Chapter 4: The Ghost Massage Machine
Rising Sun Theater.
Under the manipulation of the announcer, all theater members instantly returned to the theater like a teleportation, even faster than the Rising Sun Theater’s Black Feather magic transfer.
Could this be the fearsome aspect of the theater’s founder?
So terrifying.
Night Star felt admiration for this.
The leader of the group adjusted their top hat and softly said, “Today’s performance has ended. Next, we need to prepare for our conventional grand performance.”
Night Star was intrigued by these words and curiously asked, “Group Leader, what exactly is this grand performance?”
“This is a grand performance for the entire city. At that moment, everyone’s eyes will focus on our theater group. Everyone will become our audience, and we will deliver the most spectacular show to them. That way, the reputation of the theater group will be firmly imprinted in their memories.”
“Wow? For the entire city?”
Night Star was shocked by the scale.
Does this mean all residents in Yun Chang City will watch the performance?
But thinking about it again, it probably won’t all be live viewing—there might be livestreams. But how do we start?
Night Star remembered the Star Eclipses effect of the Group Leader.
If the Group Leader uses Star Eclipses, they could truly make all citizens focus on the performance.
Audience etiquette would freeze anyone watching the Group Leader’s performance and turn them into forced cheers.
But if this is done, it would breach the Night Watchers’ regulations, and the Rising Sun Theater would likely face another round of Night Watchers’ attacks.
Night Star didn’t want to return to those days.
After a moment of contemplation, Night Star cautiously asked, “Um, how do we prepare for the grand performance? It must be difficult, right?”
“Yes, the Audience Performer you have brought unprecedented changes to the theater group. We can’t rely on routine methods anymore.”
“What….”
Before Night Star could continue, the announcer cut in.
“Don’t worry about it, Audience Performer. I’m capable of more than just announcing. I’ll create the performing environment so that it won’t turn into what you imagine.”
Night Star looked at the announcer, who maintained a mysterious smile, as if she had everything under her control.
She always felt this tiny announcer was like the theater’s wise sage, very reliable.
Since she said it, Night Star was relieved.
“Okay! I look forward to the show then. How will it turn out?”
The group leader patted Night Star’s head gently and said, “You’ll see for yourself.”
“Mhmm!”
Night Star learned that the grand performance still requires the ceremony for shifting locations.
After this performance, the Rising Sun Theater will head to the next city, much like a tour.
If the group decides to shift venues, Night Star would have to go along with it.
The Rising Sun Theater cannot do without the Audience Performer!
Sure enough, joining the group’s activities was not something Night Star resisted; there was a fair bit of anticipation.
That anticipation was for the curiosity of a new city.
Night Star had never been proactive about visiting other cities before. Even Shanghe City was somewhere they were forcibly taken to.
A new city meant new things, a new environment, and perhaps even new friends, all worth looking forward to.
It was somewhat unfortunate though. They couldn’t tell whether they’d still get to cuddle with Night Lan.
They were one body, sleeping together every night, clinging together while showering.
The only reason they separated was because Night Lan needed to clock in at the Night Watcher Base, whereas Night Star had to mingle well with the theater folks.
Both had different social circles and currently, it’s practically impossible for them to merge.
If Night Star goes to another city, Night Lan could only stay in Yun Chang City, which means separating again.
When Night Star thought about Night Lan being separated, there was some unease.
Forget it. They’d figure it out later.
…
Evening.
Night Star arrived home, walked in, and a ghost pounced up from nowhere.
“Night Star! Welcome back!”
“Unhh~ Unhh~ I’m here.”
Night Star peeled off the ghost girl who wrapped around them and lay on the bed, relaxing.
“Oh~ Soft bed, so comfortable~”
Eypar floated beside them, curiously asking, “Night Star, you look really tired. Should I give you a massage?”
“Huh? Sure, thanks.”
Night Star turned over, showing their back to Eypar.
Eypar’s massage skills weren’t bad despite lacking weight, using a force that only worked on Night Star and Night Lan.
Hence, the ghost girl had developed a new function aside from guarding the house: an outstanding ghost-girl massager!
If either Night Star or Night Lan were exhausted after returning home, they could enjoy this clumsy ghost’s massage.
And Eypar was more than willing to massage Night Star.
She wouldn’t miss out on such opportunities to snuggle casually.
“Hmm~ Ahh~ So comfy~”
Night Star moaned lazily, letting Eypar knead their shoulders and back, feeling almost heavenly.
Looks like keeping a ghost around wasn’t altogether bad.
Eypar seemed more useful than imagined.
Night Star lay on the bed, emitting cute, soft sounds, completely relaxed. Suddenly, an idea came to mind.
“By the way, Eypar, we might head to another city soon with the theater group. Are you going with Night Star, or staying here with Night Lan?”
“Of course, with Night Star! While I know Night Star and Night Lan are the same person, Night Star’s silver hair and red eyes are truly my type. Heehee~”
Eypar groaned, thoroughly lost.
Even dogs shook their heads at this.
“Alright? Do as you wish, since you can’t leave me. Since I’ve bound your freedom, I must take responsibility. As long as you’re obedient.”
“Yeah, Eypar will be very obedient! And I can massage too. Bringing me along isn’t a loss at all!”
“Well, as long as it’s okay.”
Just then, Night Lan returned from the Night Watcher Base.
“I’m back~”
Night Star jumped up, stretching and popping their joints.
“Eypar, go give Night Lan a massage for a bit.”
Although a single soul sharing the two bodies mentally shared, physical states didn’t sync—like muscle and joint fatigue.
So, returning Night Lan also deserved to enjoy the ghost girl’s services.
Night Lan came over, climbed onto the bed, and took Night Star’s place.
Night Star then went to gather their clothes, planning to have a refreshing bath.
In some time, Night Star and Night Lan might part ways.
They need to use this time to cuddle and recharge.
“Come to think of it, what is the grand performance of the Rising Sun Theater like? Can’t wait~”
No matter what, Night Star’s curiosity was piqued.
Wish I could fast-forward to that day.
