### Chapter 226: Stock Up on Sugars
This time, Jiang Kekai had learned her lesson. To avoid a repeat of what happened last time, she decided to sneakily follow behind Xia Yu, like some sort of creeper. One can only imagine the expressions on the faces of the employees who saw their boss acting like that. However, since she was the boss, they didn’t dare to gossip in private.
Jiang Kekai didn’t care much for appearances anyway, and besides, Xia Yu was way more important to her.
After a series of twists and turns and a ride in the elevator, Xia Yu was being super cautious, not wanting to mess up, because she didn’t want to disappoint her Little Ning Sister. The last thing she wanted was Little Ning Sister’s disapproval!
The whole process was surprisingly smooth with no hitches at all. Xia Yu successfully delivered the files to the fourth-floor room 402. Knock knock knock—
Before entering, she knocked, which showed she still had some manners. The management inside thought it might be just a regular employee arriving until they saw Xia Yu. One of them, somewhat impatiently said, “Come in.” But when they saw Xia Yu, they were speechless because, you see, Xia Yu was none other than the new secretary.
Yes, the news about the boss having a lady secretary had spread throughout the company. They didn’t doubt Xia Yu’s identity, but they feared that Xia Yu might go whine to Jiang Kekai. But Xia Yu wasn’t the type to throw a fit or snitch; she just brushed off any annoyance.
Seeing the nameplate of a desk with He Xin’s name, Xia Yu knew that’s whom she needed to hand over the documents to for the mission to be complete.
Xia Yu acted immediately. Under the watchful eyes of six people, she handed over the documents, slightly stuttering as she said nervously, “L—Little Ning Sister says the plan is a—approved.”
Yeah, right. Because of her stuttering, Xia Yu blushed in embarrassment. Her body was very honest, apparently!
Initially, everyone thought the new secretary would have a princess complex, but instead, Xia Yu turned out to be pretty adorable, which made everyone feel less wary and more fond of her.
Especially Aunt He Xin, who boldly ruffled Xia Yu’s hair, saying, “Got it, little secretary.” Predictably, this made Xia Yu even more embarrassed, and she fled the office with a flushed face. She needed to overcome her bashful tendencies quickly; it was a long journey ahead!
Hiding in a corner, Jiang Kekai watched Xia Yu complete her task smoothly and felt quite proud. Alright, next thing was to ensure Xia Yu didn’t catch on and then return to the office first.
Resolved, Jiang Kekai hurried back from another entrance, hoping Xia Yu wouldn’t notice her tailing her. Otherwise, the girl might think it wasn’t her sole effort.
Not long after, Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai returned to their office, though Xia Yu still looked a bit flushed. “Little Yu, this is your reward. No need to be shy.”
Reward? Again?
Xia Yu expected something pricey and instinctively tried to refuse. But before she could say anything, Jiang Kekai tossed a fruit candy to her.
Seeing Xia Yu’s curious look, Jiang Kekai patiently replied, “Didn’t you forget your anemia? Carry more candies around; you might pass out otherwise, and I’d worry,” Jiang Kekai continued.
Xia Yu realized Little Ning Sister genuinely cared!
Feeling overwhelmed, she nodded with embarrassment, managing to stammer, “Yeah, I’ll do it.” Jiang Kekai smiled, pleased with Xia Yu’s obedience. She gave Xia Yu’s cheek a gentle pinch. “All done here. Let’s move on to the next office.”
“Okay.”
Xia Yu had been well aware of Jiang Kekai’s various companies anyway, so this decision didn’t surprise her much. Together, they moved on to the next big office…
By evening, both in formal attire, they finally managed to wrap things up in Peng City and Demon City. They just had enough time for dinner.
Oddly enough, Xia Yu thought her father gave her a more approving gaze than before, less dismissive.
And sure enough, as Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai sat down for dinner, Xia Hong suggested, “Little Yu, you look great in that outfit. Wear it often.”
Translation: Xia Hong was subtly hinting that Xia Yu should wear more male clothes to look more dashing.
For some time, Xia Hong had pondered changing Xia Yu’s image. Soft approaches were the only way since changing a son overnight was impossible. He listed a few stages in his mind: change clothes, change haircut, change personality.
Easier said than done, yes, but only he knew the plan.
Xia Yu’s dad addressing her prompted her to respond, but how?
Pondering, she eventually muttered, “Uh-huh.”
Happily, Xia Hong saw her in boys’ clothes and continued, “You know next week we have National Day holiday, right? Your aunt in the countryside is getting married, so let’s head home.”
In a curious look, Xia Yu glanced at her little Ning Sister, preparing to indulge her.
“Go back? I want to stay here,” Xia Yu asked hopefully.
“No can do. Your grandma wants everyone present,” Xia Hong snapped.
Xia Yu, summoned plenty of courage for that, now felt defeated by her dad’s response.
Definitely, Xia Hong’s tone wasn’t negotiable, and leaving his kid out could be embarrassing later.
But, Jiang Kekai, unlike Xia Yu, wasn’t afraid.
“You’re coming? Can I join?” she asked bravely.
“Out of question. It’s family stuff, and it’s far. Your parents will worry, and it’s not safe.”
“If there’s trouble?”
“We’re covered. You’ll be back soon too,” Xia Hong clarified.
Seeing Jiang Kekai’s affection for Xia Yu, Xia Hong wondered if this was Xia Yu’s lucky charm—such a thoughtful girl, rich too.
Knowing Xia Hong’s stance, Jiang Kekai reluctantly sighed, “Little Yu, do you remember what I told you?”
Xia Yu nodded obediently.
“Good, take care of yourself.”
Watching these two, Xia Le felt a pang of nostalgia, cleared his plate, and left.
The next day was Sunday, and Jiang Kekai indulged with Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang shopping. Having missed out during the long break, Jiang Kekai felt a surge of joy spending time with the “little ones.” Plus, she’d never been fond of Xia Yu’s messy hairstyle.
After Xia Yu got a botched haircut earlier, she resolved to spruce up Xia Yu’s appearance. Jiang Kekai led the girls into a fancy salon, the best in town.
