Chapter 8 – Our Encounter, Our Escape
Just as Mo Qianmeng was about to concoct a reason to leave, a few figures caught her attention.
She spotted three girls strolling along a wall adorned with paintings, seemingly lost in admiration of the artwork.
Even from a distance, Mo Qianmeng could tell these girls were exquisite.
But what caught her attention was not their looks, but the aura they exuded.
Two of them definitely radiated a Stellar vibe—probably Star Holders.
Mo Qianmeng wasn’t surprised to stumble upon Star Holders; after all, she encountered similar folks every time she stepped outside.
It’s not that Star Holders were as common as cabbages; it just meant she was already used to it.
Besides being a renowned beautiful girl and a genius painter, she was also a Night Watcher.
When she encountered unfamiliar Star Holders, she typically didn’t intervene, as it wasn’t within her job scope, and as long as the Star Holders she spotted weren’t committing crimes in front of her eyes, it was usually no biggie.
Now, the three were just peacefully admiring the art.
Normally, Mo Qianmeng would give a quick glance and move on, but this time was different.
One of the figures emanated a faint Star Eclipse aura.
Though that aura was so weak that a regular Night Watcher might miss it entirely, it was unmistakably a Star Eclipse vibe!
What if she’s carrying something tainted with Star Eclipse energy?
If that were the case, she’d need to step in.
Every Night Watcher needs to be alert for anything unusual regarding Star Eclipses, and she was no exception.
Thinking quickly, Mo Qianmeng told the adult beside her, “Excuse me for a moment.”
Without waiting for a response, she made a beeline for the trio.
Meanwhile, Night Star, engrossed in the art, suddenly sensed something and turned around.
She saw a young girl striding towards them, sporting a serious expression that screamed “looking for trouble.”
Her first impression of this girl was:
Beautiful girl!
Her second impression was:
Star Holder!
Was this gal also a student like Luo Xiquan?
If so, perhaps this curious Star Holder approaching them wasn’t something to fear after all.
But Night Star felt that this girl wasn’t your typical Star Holder; the aura she carried suggested she’d endured numerous extraordinary experiences.
It was safe to bet that this girl was most likely a Night Watcher!
What could a Night Watcher be approaching them for? No need to guess.
She was probably on a mission.
If they were in Yun Chang City, Night Star wouldn’t have panicked, considering only Night Lan was out on the streets right now.
But they were in Qi Yuan City, and she was Night Star. Night Star was an Audience Performer for the Rising Sun Theater Group, alongside two companions—a Singer and a Puppet Master.
Even with Existence Interference lessening their presence and concealing some information, who knew if a Night Watcher might catch onto anything strange?
Time to make a dash!
Thinking that, Night Star grabbed Kong Yu Bai and Lianhua by the hands, activating Speed B and zooming off.
Mo Qianmeng blinked in surprise at this scene.
“Anomaly!”
Without hesitation, Mo Qianmeng chased after them, her mind already piecing things together.
Those three knew she was a Night Watcher.
If they dared to run away from an official enforcer, didn’t that scream “guilty as charged”?
And the reason was likely the Star Eclipse aura on one of the girls—what a coincidence!
With that in mind, Mo Qianmeng sprinted after them, but soon realized she couldn’t keep up?
This must require Speed B…
After turning the corner, she noticed she had already lost them.
With only Speed A at her disposal, she couldn’t catch up to a girl equipped with Speed B, no matter how powerful her Star was.
Quickly scanning the art museum for a sign of them, she found nothing.
They probably had already left the building.
With that realization, Mo Qianmeng shook her head, deciding to return to the base.
Scene Shift.
In a corner of the Calligraphy and Painting Entertainment District.
Night Star dashed out of the museum with her two companions, bolting at lightning speed.
Lianhua and Kong Yu Bai looked at the slightly panting Night Star.
“Night Star, are you alright?”
“I’m fine… just need to catch my breath.”
Kong Yu Bai gently pulled Night Star closer, sitting down herself while offering her lap as a pillow.
“Why did you run so fast just now?”
Night Star bashfully accepted the lap pillow, stuttering, “I… I sensed a Night Watcher coming close.”
“Could you tell she was a Night Watcher?”
“Um… no, I was just guessing based on experience.”
“I see, thank you for your hard work!”
“It’s nothing. Anyway, it’s better not to interact with Night Watchers right now… can’t explain anything and might just stir up misunderstandings…”
“Yep, Night Star’s decision is wise.”
Kong Yu Bai gently stroked Night Star’s hair in a very soothing manner.
Lianhua watched with a hint of envy.
She wanted to give Night Star a lap pillow too!
But now wasn’t the time for envy.
“Night Star, where do we go next? Back to the theater?”
“Um… I don’t think so. Even though Kong Yu Bai’s Existence Interference might not fool strong Night Watchers, it’s not like every Night Watcher can detect anomalies. We probably just ran into a particularly strong one this time. Let’s just continue strolling around and head back when it gets dark.”
Night Star made a simple decision for their next move, looking completely unruffled.
If it was the old her, she would’ve probably scurried back to the theater by now.
But with her newfound courage, she wanted to keep exploring for a while longer.
As long as the entire Night Watcher squad didn’t show up for a crackdown, she felt perfectly fine.
That said, it was still a great time to enjoy the world-famous diva’s lap pillow benefit.
The soft thighs of this beautiful girl were heavenly~
Hee hee hee~
……
In the Qi Yuan City Night Watcher Base.
Mo Qianmeng entered the command hall, ready to report an anomaly and alert all patrolling Night Watchers.
Just then, a child pounced on her.
“Xiao Qianmeng~ Welcome back~”
Hearing that voice, Mo Qianmeng’s eyes narrowed, and without thinking, she delivered a swift roundhouse kick, sending the kid flying.
Bang!
The child crashed to the ground, producing a sound that made everyone wince in sympathy.
Under normal circumstances, a kid getting kicked like that would be toast.
But he stood up unscathed, sporting a somewhat aggrieved look.
“That’s just mean! You can’t treat your senior like that!”
Seeing this, Mo Qianmeng sighed lightly and replied flatly, “If you’re a senior, could you not take advantage of me pretending to be a child? You clearly look like an uncle.”
Don’t be fooled by this little kid’s slight frame; he was actually twenty-eight years old.
Not only that, he was one of the Rising Sun Night Watchers in Qi Yuan City, a real pillar of strength.
His name was Hei Yang.
