Chapter 234

Chapter 233: It’s from the Property Manager

“Hmm? Younger Sister, you’re up too? Rub my arm, it feels so numb.”

Seeing Xia Yu was also awake, Xia Ling didn’t waste any time and stretched her left arm towards her, demanding a massage.

Xia Yu was still a bit dazed, but hearing Xia Ling mention her arm, she immediately perked up with some concern, “Your arm is uncomfortable? Is there something wrong? Should I call Mom and Dad?”

It wasn’t strange for Xia Yu to think this way because Xia Ling had just got her plaster cast removed yesterday. Xia Yu was genuinely worried she might have something wrong.

But to Xia Yu’s surprise, Xia Ling looked down at her with wide-eyed suspicion, then nudged Xia Yu’s shoulder with her own, “Relax, I just slept on it funny. It’ll be fine.”

Since Xia Ling said it was nothing serious, Xia Yu obliged, gently massaging Xia Ling’s arm. To be honest, it was also Xia Yu’s first time massaging a lady besides this Jiang Kekai asking her for a hand.

Feels… like Xia Ling’s flesh is soft and her bones are tiny.

After five minutes of rubbing, Xia Ling declared she was feeling better. Xia Yu, in turn, laid back on her bed, staring at the ceiling, feeling bored now that Jiang Kekai wasn’t around.

Xia Ling decided to lounge around again, snuggling up near Xia Yu, pretending to be the perfect pair of sisters.

Seeing Xia Ling like that made Xia Yu feel quite helpless. She was about to say something when suddenly, the door creaked. “Little Yu, Little Ling, did you wake up? I’ve made noodles downstairs. Hurry up and wash and come down for breakfast.”

It was Mother Wang Wenjuan.

However, Xia Yu and Xia Ling had just woken up and weren’t really hungry at all.

They knew better than to reject their mother’s care out of politeness, so they dragged themselves up, washed quickly and headed down to the dining area together.

Once they finished washing up, Xia Yu didn’t return to Xia Ling’s princess room as she usually would. Instead, she went back to her sparsely furnished room to unpack her suitcase. She took out some makeup tools, a hairbrush, and a small mirror. Then, Xia Yu began tidying herself up.

One could say Jiang Kekai truly understands Xia Yu well, knowing exactly what she might need, packing these items for her and ensuring they were in her possession now.

Satisfied she looked presentable, Xia Yu started searching Xia Ling’s room for her. Hand in hand, they ventured downstairs.

Predictably, Xia Yu and Xia Ling found a big pot filled with fragrant tomato and egg noodles. Grandmother was in the kitchen boiling pig food in a large wok and saw Xia Yu’s long hair with clear disapproval, “Xia Yu, why do you keep your hair so long? Go get it trimmed.”

Yesterday, it was too late, so Grandmother didn’t mention anything.

But now, with daylight, Xia Yu’s changes in appearance after four months were stark. She looked white and tender, with flawless cheeks and flowing silky hair. Definitely a girl.

Last year during Spring Festival, Xia Yu wore her female attire outside. Grandmother vividly recalled the gossip that followed. She didn’t want history repeating itself. However, obedient Xia Yu courageously refused, “No.”

Similarly, Xia Ling was adamant her sister should keep her long beautiful hair, “Grandma, let Big Sister keep her hair if she doesn’t want to cut it. It looks nice anyway, right?”

“But Xia Yu is a boy. Letting him out looking ambiguous will make people laugh, and the school makes him grow his hair?”

“He can, so let him be. Mind your own business.”

Xia Yu stood silently by, her face showing displeasure, indicating she wasn’t in the mood for food anymore. Xia Ling noticed this and suggested, “Little Yu, let’s eat upstairs?”

To Xia Yu’s slight relief, she nodded in agreement. Xia Ling didn’t waste time trying to pick up the noodle pot. Due to Xia Ling’s left arm just recovering, she nearly spilled it. Embarrassingly, Xia Ling laughed it off and asked Xia Yu, “Little Yu, could you take this?”

Xia Yu:

Silence aside, Xia Yu picked up the pot, ignoring Grandma’s constant nagging about getting a haircut. Upstairs, Wang Wenjuan smiled, watching the scene unfold, saying, “Don’t mind, Xia Yu. Just pretend you didn’t hear.”

Right then, Xia Ling retrieved her instant noodle bowl from her room, hinting she wanted to use food to distract Xia Yu.

Her mother’s observation proved this strategy somewhat successful; Xia Yu seemed much happier while eating. Truly, Xia Yu is a foodie.

Hearing a series of footsteps, Xia Hong entered the living room. Seeing Xia Yu and Xia Ling munching on noodles, his wife, Wang Wenjuan, idly chewing seeds, he asked, “Where’s Xia Le, and who wants to go shopping with me in preparation for tomorrow?”

Wang Wenjuan responded, “Xia Le left early, probably with his buddies. He’s probably gaming with them.” Xia Hong called Xia Le directly, proving Xia Le has something vital to attend to.

After a brief delay, Xia Le finally answered.

Xia Hong: ‘Where are you now?’

Xia Le: ‘At a friend’s place.’

Xia Hong: ‘I’m going out now, hurry and meet me.’

Xia Le: ‘I don’t want to. Have Xia Yu and Xia Ling go instead.’

Xia Yu: “…”

Xia Ling: “…”

Ultimately, Xia Le declined Xia Hong’s invitation due to their game session. Xia Hong reluctantly turned to Xia Yu and Xia Ling. Offering a bribe, “Xia Yu and Xia Ling, if you go with me, I’ll give each of you a hundred bucks, but don’t tell your brother?”

Wang Wenjuan couldn’t help but chuckle and encouraged, “Let’s go, Xia Yu and Xia Ling. We haven’t been around this area in a while!”

Xia Yu agreed, feeling bored at home and eager for change. Reluctantly taking the money, Xia Yu nodded.

Seeing Xia Yu agree, Xia Ling could hardly resist. Xia Hong gladly handed them both bills, “Eat slowly, take your time.”

Meanwhile, Dr. T brought many people to Peng City, Xia family’s residence. They were halted by Jiang Family’s bodyguards.

“Unauthorized individuals cannot enter.” Dr. T, having researched well, wasn’t surprised to see guards.

With a wave of his hand, a middle-aged man dressed formally stepped forward, “I’m the property manager, let him explain.”
