Chapter 12: Peeping in the Dark
“Mmm, this uniform fits pretty well. So, why does this academy have uniforms of this size? Could it be that there are little lolis here?”
Night Star tugged at her blue and white uniform, feeling the good quality material and comfortable fit.
Hold up, now doesn’t seem like the time to worry about this.
Luo Xiquan seemed to be missing!
“Mmmm…”
Night Star fell into deep thought.
She had heard voices outside while changing earlier and faintly caught a few words. Seems like Luo Xiquan was taken away by them.
Well then, Night Star didn’t have much of a choice; might as well take a stroll around.
Night Star leisurely walked out of the building, having already canceled the existence reduction effect of Existence Interference.
Since she was wearing the academy’s uniform, there was no point in hiding anymore.
And besides, using Stars continuously was such a bother. Might as well turn it off.
Even if she encountered a Star Holder or Night Watcher, she could bluff her way through.
With that, Night Star happily sauntered down the path, her steps light and cheerful.
This felt like returning to being just a student again.
How strange~
Night Star’s adorable figure quickly attracted many stares.
The silver-haired red-eyed loli was always a top beauty target for many, once seen, could not be unglued from.
Having experienced numerous weird events, Night Star had developed a special aura that shone brightly for ordinary folks; it was like a precious pearl in the darkness, extremely beautiful.
Many students thought this silver-haired loli was probably some big-shot company’s little princess. Her exquisite face combined with unique charm made it hard not to speculate along these lines.
Yet, many students started scratching their heads.
They hadn’t heard of this character around campus.
Logically speaking, a cute little loli like her should be widely known across campus, similar to the campus heartthrobs whose names spread like wildfire on campus groups.
Could she be a new transfer?
Thinking that, some daring girl students stepped forward.
This silver-haired loli was alone, with no bodyguards or small clique.
If that’s the case, approaching and asking shouldn’t be an issue, right?
“Mmm… Something feels off.”
When Night Star snapped back to reality, she found herself surrounded by several senior girls.
“Junior, what’s your name? What year and department are you in? Mind introducing yourself?”
“Ahem…”
She didn’t know!
Night Star finally realized the danger of canceling out Existence Interference.
Guess I have to bluff my way through.
“That, I’m a newly transferred student, still not sure yet.”
“Really a new transfer junior? Awesome! Let me, Senior, help you get acquainted with the campus.”
A very ordinary-looking senior eagerly volunteered, acting like a helpful student.
Others were visibly displeased.
“It should be my turn. No one can match my familiarity. You guys are too green.”
“Stop the bickering. You’ll scare the junior. It’ll be gentler if I handle it.”
…
Seeing these quarreling girls, Night Star was completely frozen in shock.
So scary!
No time to waste, better slip away now.
Night Star quickly reduced her presence and slipped away unnoticed.
Moments later, the girls noticed the vanished silver-haired loli.
“Oh, the cute junior is gone.”
“She must’ve been scared off by you guys.”
“Really, why not just take her along?”
“Oh well, we’ll get to know her next time we meet.”
Scene shifts.
Night Star cautiously moved to another area, heaving a sigh of relief.
“Mmm~ Definitely better to use existence interference strategically. Too cute draws attention, am I turning into one of those trouble-making beauties in novels? It’s such a torment.”
Of course, if all the attention came from lolis, it wouldn’t be bad.
Night Star dispelled her random musings and prepared to explore more of the campus.
Surely, there aren’t just one or two Night Watchers around. Better be careful.
Raising her alertness, Night Star proceeded, constantly observing people to avoid any Star Holders, circumventing them when spotted.
Suddenly, she noticed a large group of people on a long hallway. Carefully sensing, she realized they were all Star Holders!
“d*mn, are they all Star Holders from the academy? And gathered together.”
Night Star quickly found a corner to hide, fearing some powerful Star Holders may notice her shadow.
“Mmm-mm~”
Continuing her covert watch, she found a clearly adult figure, also a Star Holder, in front of the group.
As expected, that person should be a Night Watcher from the academy.
“Heavenly City’s Night Watcher, huh. We’ll have to interact with them eventually. Not sure what the Heavenly City’s Sunlight Night Watcher is like; hopefully, they’re more gentle than a battle maniac.”
Night Star whispered softly, ready to follow the crowd.
Since the hidden power of Existence Interference can save her from being noticed, hiding well should keep her safe.
Making a decision, Night Star followed discreetly.
A while later, they arrived in an open area devoid of other students but specifically reserved.
Night Star hid beside a trash bin, peeping out with a head like an assassin skillful at concealing presence.
Instantly, the leading Night Watcher spoke.
“Now, I’ll teach you about Stars and methods of advancement. To achieve greater heights, it requires immense effort; raw talent isn’t enough. Spiritual energy is key to wielding Stars. For growth, you need to…”
Night Star vaguely heard these words, quickly comprehending.
This Night Watcher was educating these students on basics.
Regarding spiritual energy enhancement, Night Star knew it like the back of her hand.
In fact, Night Star’s knowledge about Night Watchers passed the test with flying colors; even a newbie mentor wouldn’t do better.
For example, little loli Zero Meow. At such a young age, she already became Night Star’s tutor, and Night Star noticed the difference and grandeur in her appearance with a distinct air of authority.
“Mmm-mmm-mmm~ Doesn’t look that interesting. Should I leave now?”
Night Star found the group more amateur compared to her, not even Night Watchers themselves.
If so, then there’s no excitement, neither worth watching.
Just as Night Star considered leaving, a voice rang nearby.
“Classmate, what are you doing here?”
“Eee!!”
