Chapter 240

### Chapter 239: Xia Wenwen

It was all because Xia Yu and Xia Ling took an afternoon nap that Xia Yu had no time to get up and change the bedding… Even if she did manage to change it, she wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway.

Watching Xia Yu with still a bit of worry etched on her face upon waking up, Xia Ling elbowed Xia Yu playfully in the side, “Little Sister, still thinking about unhappy things?” “I didn’t have time to change the bedding,” replied Xia Yu honestly.

“Ah, I thought what? Didn’t I say before? You can always come sleep at my place, bedding or not doesn’t matter.” “Really?”

“What else do you think little sis can do to me?”

With that, Xia Ling started climbing onto Xia Yu’s body, hugging her tightly from above. It really did feel like a human pillow—especially since both of them were adorable.

Of course, Xia Ling’s feelings towards Xia Yu were just sisterly; she had no other thoughts beyond teasing Xia Yu. Xia Yu: “…”

By five o’clock, it was time to feed the machine (some word got rejected, so this part remains unclear). And Xia Yu indeed went to do as she should, albeit boredly, fetching some rice.

Sitting on the steps, Xia Yu watched the little chicks eat. She couldn’t help but start spacing out, reminiscing about the past. True, Xia Yu may look weak now, but only she knew how much more mature her mind had become.

But right then, Xia Yu’s acute ears picked up on the sounds of adults talking closely behind her, the whispers growing louder.

As expected, when Xia Yu turned around, her father appeared, accompanied by a bunch of village uncles. She figured this was how she ought to call them.

And to make matters worse, there was someone else—someone bringing their daughter along. Worse yet, that girl happened to be Xia Yu’s old classmate, one of Xia Ling’s ‘little sisters.’

Well, looks like party time.

Xia Yu preferred to be alone, not wanting to interact with anyone. She wanted to breeze past these uncles and head back upstairs.

But things didn’t go as she planned; Xia Hong blocked her way, “Little Yu, why didn’t you say hello to your old classmates? Dinner won’t be ready for a while, so the two of you should go upstairs and watch TV.”

In other words, Xia Yu was the guide.

How could Xia Yu refuse her father’s command? So, she silently looked at the girl, “Come along, Xia Ling is up there too.”

The girl nodded and followed Xia Yu upstairs. With so many big people downstairs, she shared Xia Yu’s lack of desire to stick around.

Halfway up, the girl spoke to Xia Yu, “Xia Yu, never would’ve thought you’d turn out like this.”

Xia Yu felt weird, unsure whether the girl was complimenting or undermining her. Nevertheless, she responded, “Yeah.”

Knowing Xia Yu’s reluctance, the girl stopped prying and followed Xia Yu upstairs.

Upstairs, only Xia Ling was sprawled on the sofa, fiddling with her phone and watching TV—quite the leisurely sight.

Detecting no other outsiders, the girl relaxed significantly, her face breaking into a smile, “Long time no see, Xia Ling. Didn’t come visit my place after returning?”

She plopped beside Xia Ling, clearly indicating their close bond from childhood. But Xia Yu didn’t mind; she seated herself on another sofa, playing her own games.

The arrival of Xia Wenwen caught Xia Ling off-guard, but she quickly snapped back, “Wenwen? What brings you here?”

Indeed, the girl’s name was Xia Wenwen. Living in Xia Family Village, it was odd not sharing the surname Xia.

Xia Wenwen relaxed against the sofa, “My dad asked me over for dinner. Heard you’re back, so I swung by. Didn’t expect you to get so much whiter in a few months.”

“Whiter? I didn’t notice.”

Xia Ling glanced at her arms, innocently suggesting she had no idea she had changed.

Though chatting with her friend, Xia Ling made sure not to neglect Xia Yu, pulling Xia Yu alongside to her side almost immediately, “Look at my little sis. She’s even whiter than me.”

Xia Yu: “…”

Xia Wenwen examined Xia Yu’s arms and her overall appearance, her expression turning complex as she looked back at Xia Ling. “So, how’s life with your second brother? He’s not your second brother anymore?”

“Yes, he wasn’t back then. Now he’s just agreed to be my little sis, so I’ll keep calling him that.”

Seeing Xia Yu’s pitiful state, Xia Wenwen felt bad for Xia Yu’s “cute problem.”

To Xia Yu, Xia Wenwen had no real animosity, though she used to occasionally discuss bad things about Xia Yu with her friends. But Xia Yu hadn’t given her any reason to dislike her. She simply found Xia Yu’s sudden transformation curious.

Seeing Xia Yu self-conscious, Xia Yu stood up and said to Xia Ling, “You two chat, I’ll go take a bath.”

Without waiting for Xia Ling’s response, Xia Yu headed directly to her room to fetch clothes, then headed to the bathroom to shower.

With Xia Yu gone, Xia Wenwen finally couldn’t hold back, “Xia Ling, doesn’t your second brother seem too girly? Something happen? Or maybe they’re right and he has mental issues.”

Xia Ling was exasperated, “Does my sister strike you as the type to have a mental issue?” “Sure does,” Xia Wenwen firmly answered.

“Ugh, fine. She does have some minor issues needing treatment, but it’s not what you’re thinking.” “What is it then?”

“I’m not telling you,” Xia Ling retorted, somewhat stubbornly.

Seeing Xia Ling like this, Xia Wenwen gave up trying to press, “Fine, fine. You’re a stingy friend.”

“You got me all riled up for nothing. This is family business, why get so nosy?”

“Just curious, you know?”

“Curiosity killed the cat, they say.” “Oh, understood.”

When Xia Yu came out of the shower, she found Xia Ling and Xia Wenwen still discussing fun things from Peng City, and decided not to interrupt. She went straight to Xia Ling’s room to borrow the fan from Xia Jing.

But Xia Ling, ever vigilant, saw Xia Yu and immediately stood up, “Little Sis going to dry your hair? Let me help.” Finished speaking, Xia Ling got up immediately and approached Xia Yu nonchalantly.

This left Xia Wenwen, naturally annoyed at being sidelined, so she followed Xia Ling.

Thus, by the time Xia Yu entered Xia Ling’s room, both Xia Ling and Xia Wenwen were in there, which annoyed Xia Yu.

It wasn’t about Xia Ling; it was Xia Wenwen. Xia Yu disliked half-familiar types, regardless of gender. But Xia Wenwen wasn’t getting the hint, looking around Xia Ling’s “princess room” curiously.

Xia Ling, naturally, helped Xia Yu dry her hair despite her protests.

Suddenly, Xia Wenwen, with a curious look, spotted something—a subtle bump under Xia Yu’s clothes, unmistakably a bra.

Realizing her discovery, Xia Wenwen thought it was significant. No wonder the elders always said Xia Yu had issues—she truly did. Why else would a normal boy wear this?

She saw it but dared not ask, remembering Xia Ling saying, “Curiosity killed the cat.”

“Alright, I’m heading to wash up now. Go have TV time, XiaYu and Xia Wenwen.”

Xia Ling, not knowing their thoughts, naturally suggested, “Go sit and watch TV in the living room.”

Xia Yu quickly returned to the living room, and Xia Wenwen followed.

With Xia Ling absent and Xia Yu being an outsider, Xia Wenwen took out her parents’ old phone, texting her “sisters.”

To Xia Yu, oblivious to such things, she just sat there, engrossed in her game, occasionally glancing to see if Little Ning had sent her any messages.
