### Chapter 15: Successfully on the Run
Ice Lixie walked out of the academy with Night Star, apparently preparing to hail a cab.
Night Star was plotting every possible escape in her mind and had not given up yet.
Hand themselves over?
No way!
A brave Audience Performer would never betray the theater troupe!
And this also involved Night Lan’s social d*ath!
If it were discovered that the Night Lan from Yun Chang City and the Night Star from Qi Yuan City were the same person, they would be done for.
There might even be some secrets about the Audience Performer that would come out later…
In short, they needed to run!
The Night Watcher from Qi Yuan City probably hadn’t seen Night Lan from Yun Chang City before.
She had heard from Boss Xiao Jin that such secrets were well hidden.
The Night Watcher institution in Yun Chang City was intentionally keeping Night Lan’s information under wraps, making sure it didn’t leak.
Even Night Watchers from other cities weren’t aware.
So naturally, Qi Yuan City, which was quite a distance away, wouldn’t know that the Night Star who just showed up here looked very similar to a newbie Night Watcher somewhere else.
If worst came to worst, she could always team up with the Singer back in Yun Chang City to use the “Existence Interference” technique to hide Night Star’s face when they got back. There were plenty of ways to go about this.
Of course, this was assuming they could manage an actual escape.
Night Star looked up at the person beside her and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you the Sunlight Night Watcher?”
“Oh? You actually know about that? Looks like you’re no ordinary person. What organization do you belong to? And who’s that standing behind you?”
“I’m my own boss, I don’t work for any organizations.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, really.”
Ice Lixie stared at Night Star for a while in silence and then said with a smile, “Seems like you’re telling the truth, but we’ll discuss the details once we get back to the Night Watcher base. If you don’t pose a threat, the Night Watcher won’t make things difficult for you.”
Night Star couldn’t help but avert their gaze, looking quite reluctant to head to the Night Watcher base.
“Um, can you let go? I’m not used to being held by anyone…”
It couldn’t drag on any longer, or they really would end up at the Night Watcher base!
“Trying to run?”
“I can’t outrun you…”
“Then wait a bit.”
Ice Lixie smiled warmly but did not let go.
After a while, a levitating car pulled up to the academy entrance, presumably for the Night Watchers.
Seeing this, Ice Lixie released her grip and said, “Please get in.”
“Um um um…”
Night Star didn’t act immediately, instead staring at the nearby wall.
A few seconds later, they made a bold dash straight at the wall.
The pitch-black theater entrance appeared on the wall, emanating an eerie aura.
Seeing this, Ice Lixie moved to block Night Star, only to get plastered by a barrage of black feathers from the dark entrance, causing her to stop momentarily.
When she pushed the feathers aside, she realized Night Star had already vanished.
Ice Lixie sighed gently, expression slightly frustrated.
“What a sneaky little thing, managed to slip away for real.”
Following that, the driver stepped down from the Night Watcher’s specialized car, looking rather stunned at Ice Lixie.
“What was that?”
Ice Lixie shook her head.
“Nothing, let’s go take me back to the base.”
“Yes.”
Ice Lixie got into the car, gazing out the window in thought.
“Rising Sun… Troupe?”
—
Inside the theater.
Night Star sat in the backseat, heart pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of their chest.
“Whoa… That was intense! Almost caught!”
Standing next to her, the black-cloaked Group Leader said calmly, “Audience Performer, please be more careful next time when you go out, we wouldn’t want you getting caught by someone dangerous.”
“Mmh, thank you, Group Leader, you’re a savior!”
“You’re welcome. Get ready for the upcoming performance this week. If you’d like, you can perform on stage too, there’s no need to be confined to just as an audience performer.”
“I know.”
The Group Leader then retreated back into the shadows.
Night Star exhaled, her heartbeat finally calming down.
That was a close call. Without the Group Leader’s help, escape might have been impossible.
Qi Yuan City really is terrifying. Just entering one school meant running into serious stuff.
Night Star had never experienced anything like this in Yun Chang City.
Of course, this might also be because she had been quite reckless in this city.
At that moment, Lotus, practicing puppetry on stage, noticed Night Star returning and rushed over.
“Audience Performer, welcome back! Why so early today?”
“Uh, forced.”
Lotus cocked her head, confused.
Night Star didn’t offer further explanation, draping a hand familiarly over Lotus’ shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it. We won’t go out today. It’s more relaxing watching the Puppet Master perform anyway.”
“Okay!”
Lotus immediately let it go.
All she cared about was that Night Star wanted to see her puppetry.
—
Night Watcher Base.
Ice Lixie entered the command room where Black Yang was sitting in the main seat, eyes glued to screens showing different information.
Black Yang noticed someone approaching and turned, smiling warmly.
“Lixie-nee, welcome back. How was your trip? Need me to suggest some new tourist spots?”
Black Yang knew this person liked sightseeing.
Sometimes, they enjoyed standing at the highest points, watching the sky, sunrise, sunset, stars, and the moon. During their free time, they loved traveling.
They had seen all the sights around Qi Yuan City, perhaps glimpsed somewhere along a mountain peak, riverside, or balcony.
Maybe this behavior gave them some inner peace to balance the side effects of the stars.
But could they really achieve that?
Black Yang respected them and would try their best to assist, even if it meant only suggesting more scenic spots.
Ice Lixie looked at Black Yang, soft-spoken, “I’ve sorted out most of the anomalies found by Thousand Dreams.”
“So soon?”
“Yeah, just got lucky.”
“Considering this was managed by Lixie-nee, it must have been perfect.”
“Not really, she got away.”
“Oh, that explains it, pretty impressive then.”
Black Yang’s smile faded, expression somewhat surprised.
Ice Lixie didn’t continue about it, saying instead, “Tell the others not to focus on the anomaly anymore. The Rising Sun Theater Group has arrived in Qi Yuan city. We should think of how to handle their strange antics this weekend.”
“Rising Sun Theater Group? The group with at least six Ultra Star Eclipses?”
“Yep.”
Black Yang sucked in a breath.
“Looks like our luck changed. Finally reached our city. But things are a bit complicated right now, adding the Rising Sun Theater Group into the mix. Not sure if we can handle it.”
Ice Lixie smiled, “Have you checked out Yun Chang City lately? Since they put on a grand show, I think we should be able to handle it without much effort.”
“We’ll see, better stay on guard.”
