Chapter 22: Shining Entry
The star of Hei Yang is named 【Sun】.
Under the sun, Hei Yang’s fighting power increases, powerful enough to crush any opponent.
During the day, he’s as bright and cheerful as the sun, smiling warmly at everyone he meets.
But once night falls, he can’t tap into the full strength of his role as the Sunlight Night Watcher, and his personality turns icy cold.
If he’s a powerhouse in the day, he’s a weakling at night.
If he’s a blazing sun during the day, he’s a hermit by night.
This is all thanks to the shortcomings of 【Sun】.
Of course, 【Sun】 has its limits, but they’re not related to the sky—rather, they’re about Hei Yang’s own limits.
Even with these limits, however, Hei Yang is still an unstoppable war god during the daytime.
Artificial Ultra Star Eclipses?
Knock them out with one punch. What else is there to say?
Back to reality.
Hei Yang, with a childlike grin, cracks his knuckles, producing a crisp snapping sound.
“Get this: When you all decided to act like evil eclipses, you ticked me off. If you want to d*e, feel free to keep charging at me.”
Upon hearing that, the remaining two artificial star eclipses froze in place.
Still retaining their human consciousness, they didn’t have the guts to attack him, even though their strength far surpassed others’.
Then, the leader from the institute stepped forth, trying to stay calm as he said, “Sir Hei Yang, aren’t you being a bit hasty?”
“Hasty? What’s there to be hasty about? It’s part of the job, right? Self-defense even! And accidentally overdoing it a little—isn’t that normal too?”
“Do you know what consequences your actions could have?”
“What consequences? Are you seriously thinking you could threaten the watchmen just because some people are backing them up? Even if things get complicated, do you really think threatening the watchmen is that easy?”
“You…!”
“Since we’re in Qi Yuan City, we need to follow its rules, right? You can try to threaten us with city order, but I’d just laugh it off and beat you senseless.”
Though small in size, Hei Yang was mighty in spirit, and he certainly wouldn’t give them any face.
“If you withdraw voluntarily, we might look the other way. But these two artificial star eclipses must stay for us to deal with. I’ll give you time to think about it.”
Hearing this, the remaining researchers fell silent.
The institute’s leader then contacted higher-ups, as if reporting what had happened.
Hei Yang, bored and ready to take them all down, restrained himself.
It’s complicated in Qi Yuan City.
Let’s avoid causing a ruckus, shall we?
If they touched the institute, a multitude of problems would arise, possibly involving other cities—a real headache for him.
He simply wanted to be a brainless battlesmith, but being a leader meant he couldn’t act on mere whims. Each step required deep thought—the very essence of being a watchman leader.
—
Elsewhere,
Other watchmen had subdued most of the star holders in the calligraphy and painting entertainment district, quelling the unrest somewhat.
Before professionals, these half-baked ones were basically noobs—barely a few were worth mentioning.
Perhaps the institute keeps them around just for fresh research subjects.
—
Meanwhile,
The institute’s leaders watched the situation via drones, speechless with shock.
They hadn’t seen Black Sun in action before, and were unaware of his capabilities.
Who would have thought he’d one-shot those ultra star eclipses equal to the Sunlight Night Watcher? That’s terrifying!
Worse still, this eclipse couldn’t even put up a fight, giving no data worth speaking of. A total loss!
As for the two surviving experiments, they couldn’t turn the tide anyway.
These half-finished products had no chance against such fearsome watchmen.
“F*ck, that guy’s a bratty monster? I swear he acts like he came straight out of a lab!”
“It seems not all Sunlight Watcher data is universal. Against him, Sunlight is just a joke.”
“Retreat for now. We’ll unveil the complete versions when done. Besides, the top experiment won’t d*e—what’s the rush?”
“This batch of experiments is too weak, anyway. Maybe only after number One and Two reach completion will we proceed. By then, local watchmen will be a joke.”
In the institute’s lab, two sealed experiment chambers housed two dangerous entities, their release imminent.
These were the institute’s crowning achievements, capable of city-level destruction.
Could the watchmen handle such a threat?
Recapturing the missing experiment subjects was just a matter of time.
Even if watchmen hid them away, they felt confident in seizing them back.
—
A new perspective:
The institute’s forces in the calligraphy and painting entertainment district received word, planning to evacuate soon.
Watchmen, however, likely wouldn’t let those two artificial eclipses go.
As they saw it, any eclipse deemed a threat necessitates intervention by professional watchmen.
And even normal watchmen could tell these two eclipses had unstable auras.
Leaving them to roam the city would cause significant harm—hence Black Sun’s firm stance.
The eclipses seemingly accepted their fate.
When they became experiment subjects, researchers planted obedient commands in their bodies. Under normal circumstances, they would never disobey. Even if the commands were suicidal.
Moments after the troops prepared to leave, abnormal star eclipses appeared in the area, surprising the watching watchmen.
Institute members sensed this anomaly.
“What’s going on? Could it be…star eclipses?”
All paused, waiting for the newcomers with star eclipse auras to approach.
Soon, six figures entered the view of both sides.
Members of the Rising Sun Theater Group.
“The Rising Sun Theater Group?!”
Recognizing the silhouette, Hei Yang recalled it was Sunday, their regular performance day.
Earlier, Ice Lixie reminded him to prepare, but he forgot amidst the institute’s events.
Similarly, institute members recognized the legendary eclipse group.
“Is this the famed star eclipse organization? Who knew they’d appear in Qi Yuan City?”
“What now?”
Researchers erupted into excitement, shouting.
“Quick! Capture them! So many high-caliber subjects! Can’t miss this!”
