Chapter 25

Chapter 25: Under Siege

Bam~

No one knew which naughty boy kicked off the first shot, and then the other boys hiding around Xia Yu joined in. With no shooting training, of course their aim was terrible, but there were so many of them that it didn’t much matter. Bullets flew everywhere, and Xia Yu got hit without a doubt.

If it had only hit her clothes, at least the thick fabric would have provided some cushioning. But hitting her face, neck, and hands—areas bare of protection—wasn’t fun at all; it hurt like mad!

As soon as she took that first b*llet, Xia Yu realized what these boys wanted—to gang up on her. She’d been through this before when she used to play with her older brother, Da Ge. But now… she hadn’t joined in on this game, and besides, she didn’t have a toy g*n anyway.

The boys didn’t care what Xia Yu thought; they just wanted a thrill. Seeing her run away, they charged forward like victorious heroes in a movie, firing behind them as they pursued her.

With so many bullets flying around, it was inevitable that a few would hit Xia Yu’s face, neck, and hands. They stung so bad that tears welled up in her eyes.

Thankfully, they weren’t far from the basketball court. When Xia Yu reached a crowded place, the mischievous boys had to give up their chase. Otherwise, their random shots could’ve hit an adult watching the game.

Once she noticed the boys giving up, Xia Yu slowed down. The discomfort in her tummy was getting stronger—she’d been suppressing it while running. If those boys’ bullets had hit her, she’d feel even more uncomfortable.

Wiping away the few tears from the pain, Xia Yu headed home. Slowly, the skin where she was hit by the bullets started to redden.

In truth, this wasn’t too bad. Xia Feng still remembered the time he followed his brother Xia Le and played with these boys. Xia Le’s team had left him behind, and the boys had shot her at close range. Her face had been covered in bruises, a memory she couldn’t shake off easily.

Back home, as usual, everyone was eating dinner. Xia Yu’s older brother, Xia Le, was also enjoying his meal. Next to his seat lay a new toy g*n Xia Le had bought…

Seeing Xia Yu, who wasn’t really favored at home, return, Xia Hong casually remarked, “Since you’re back, let’s eat.”

“Mmm…”

While serving herself food, Xia Yu didn’t mention what happened earlier. She knew her story would just be dismissed as kids’ play.

Regarding Xia Le, Xia Yu knew well enough that if she gossiped about the incident, he’d probably tell his friends later and mock her instead of protecting her.

And then, his friends would continue to give Xia Yu a hard time, teaching her a lesson for being a tattletale.

That was why Xia Yu didn’t like following Xia Le and being his little shadow—it just wasn’t worth it.

P.S.: This story has a yuri theme. The other female lead, the young lady, appears later in Xia Yu’s middle school years.

P.S.: Currently, Xia Yu is in fifth grade. She might suffer some bullying at school, don’t worry too much. Once the young lady shows up, things get sweet!
