### Chapter 253: Mind Your Own Beeswax
A dandy young man with black-and-yellow-dyed hair sneaked up behind an old grandmother, holding his chopsticks like he was about to perform some magic trick.
It might have been because the grandmother needed to pick out baby chicks today that she brought a lot of money. Her pants’ pockets were bulging so much they couldn’t even close properly. Naturally, this became the target of the young man’s dastardly plan.
The young man first hid behind the old lady, waiting for her to be fully engrossed in picking out chickens. Then he started his operation, using those little chopsticks as weapons. It’s not like he lacked confidence; he proceeded to boldly and openly commit the crime, despite there being plenty of people around.
Under his control, the chopsticks gently slipped into the grandma’s money-filled pocket. He then skillfully used them to pinch the coins and lift them smoothly—clearly someone who had done this many times. Everyone nearby could see what was happening, but no one stepped in to help, surprisingly.
Even though a few whispered discussions occurred, their voices were whisper-soft, as if they were afraid of affecting the stylish young man and getting into trouble later.
Exactly, it was all due to fear of trouble. So, among so many people, not a single person dared to speak up. The young man continued freely.
As for the old woman, it seemed she either didn’t notice or was too scared to react, continuing to diligently pick out little chicks.
If Jiang Hanhang wasn’t around, perhaps the young man might have succeeded in his robbery.
Unfortunately, Jiang Hanhang was right there. She saw it all, not backing down from the stylish young man. With a sharp voice, she cried, “Thief! Thief! Catch him!”
Her voice was so clear it immediately drew everyone’s attention to Jiang Hanhang and the young man.
At once, the young man, who had been steady and confident, lost grip of his chopsticks in shock, making them fall to the ground with a clatter.
Regaining his composure, the young man glared viciously at Jiang Hanhang before looking around, realizing everyone was pointing fingers at him for standing idly by instead of working hard. Angered by the embarrassment and humiliation, he left wordlessly.
Soon, over ten similarly colorful-haired men rushed through the crowd, chasing after the thief in the same direction he went.
Once they were out of sight, Xia Ling finally felt relieved. She turned towards Jiang Hanhang and said, “Why were you so brave? Didn’t you worry they’d hit you?”
To her surprise, Jiang Hanhang stood tall, hands on hips. “Why be scared? I’ve got bodyguards protecting me. If anyone tries anything, they better hope they don’t want to live.”
Xia Ling thought about it and agreed—it made sense, what with how many bodyguards Jiang Hanhang and Jiang Kekai had.
Despite this, Xia Ling warned, “Next time, best to stay away from such scoundrels. You don’t want your bodyguards too far away if they can’t protect you in time.”
“But my bodyguards have guns,” Xia Ling muttered in disbelief.
At this moment, Jiang Kekai came rushing with Xia Yu, pushing through the crowd. “Hanhang, I heard your voice. Did something happen?”
“Yes, sister. I encountered a thief just now. He was stealing from an old lady.”
Looking where the old lady once stood, Jiang Kekai noticed she had vanished. Perhaps she was too scared and ran off without so much as a thank you.
Hearing Jiang Hanhang’s account, Jiang Kekai immediately understood what went down.
With Xia Yu and Jiang Hanhang in tow, she led them away from that stench—a place she simply couldn’t bear any longer. Xia Ling followed suit.
“Hanhang, didn’t that smell make your nose wrinkle?” Jiang Kekai commented, taking deep breaths to recover her senses.
“It was bad,” Jiang Hanhang admitted.
“What’s worse, you stayed there so long. I can’t believe it.” She chuckled.
Jiang Hanhang rubbed her head. “I had some things to sort out. But it’s fine now. Your clothes aren’t dirty; good to know nothing happened.”
Jiang Kekai’s relief washed over her as she saw no harm had come to her sister. However, that overpowering stench lingered…
She grabbed Xia Yu’s hand again, pulling her further away from the foul odor. “Sis, it’s just the smell. Is it really that bad?”
Xia Yu, still recovering from her initial shock, replied, “Yes, maybe next time, you shouldn’t go to such smelly places. Now I’m craving for my breakfast.”
Elders often worry about young ones meddling in dangerous affairs. These so-called ‘social riffraff’ usually have nothing but trouble in mind.
As the four girls departed, the gang regrouped and returned, quickly surrounding them with menacing intent. Xia Ling spotted the thief among them.
“F*, who dares mess with my plans,” he growled, lunging angrily towards Jiang Hanhang to kick her.
Without a moment’s delay, a group of black-suited bodyguards emerged.
Arriving from all directions, they swiftly apprehended each member of the gang, letting none escape. Confused and bewildered, the gang could only stare. Who were these unknown black-clad figures? Why were they being seized?
One young man struggled, only to be knocked unconscious by Bodyguard Ah Cheng. “Who the hell are you? Why attack us? Let us go!”
“Exactly, who are you? Got any guts to face us one-on-one?”
“Do you even know who my big brother is?”
Amidst the shouts, the crowd grew denser, all eager to watch the action. Word spread quickly among regular vendors and curious onlookers.
Bodyguard Ah Cheng ignored the ruckus and asked Jiang Kekai, “Should we take them to the police, Miss?”
Jiang Kekai, seemingly unfazed by it all, coolly responded, “Hand them over. If any have connections to bail them out, we’ll dismantle those backdoors. Harsher penalties, please.”
Realizing they had crossed a powerful line, the gang felt remorse seeping through. Particularly when Jiang Kekai mentioned dismantling backdoors, their connections to the law enforcement were exposed in plain light.
Having given his instructions, Jiang Kekai pulled Xia Yu out of the crowd and walked away, without a backward glance.
Because the crowd was too dense, full of hungry gossips, Jiang Kekai disliked this feeling of being watched.
Afterward, Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling caught up, Jiang Hanhang bragged to Xia Ling, “Didn’t I tell you everything would be okay?” Xia Ling merely rolled her eyes in response, “Yeah, you’re rich.”
Seeing she lacked the mood for more fun, Jiang Kekai bought only a box of milk at the supermarket and suggested they head home.
Three little girls nodded agreeably. Today, they had only played for two hours before heading back.
On the way, Jiang Kekai opened the car window and breathed in the fresh air, then asked, “Yu, is there any place to swim in your village?”
“Swimming?”
Xia Yu and Xia Ling exchanged looks, then returned to their sister. “Do you mean swimming? Or fishing in a big pond?”
“Not swimming, I meant a lake where you can catch fish!”
“Want to catch big fish or small fish?”
Hearing such a silly question, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but chuckle and gently pinch Xia Yu’s cheek. “Of course, big fish. Small fish are boring.”
“No, our ponds are tiny, only small fish live there,” Xia Yu said sadly.
Jiang Kekai patted Xia Yu’s cheek, soothingly, “That’s okay.”
