### Chapter 34: The Invitation
“What about the highest experimental subject? We still haven’t figured out her characteristics; we absolutely cannot give up halfway.”
These folks hadn’t forgotten their original goal.
Before, they would have put all their energy into tracking down this missing target, using everything in their power to bring her back.
But now, with the involvement of the Rising Sun Theater Group, everything had become more complicated.
They had a very bold idea: to also acquire the star eclipses of the Rising Sun Theater Group.
Once they got a hold of the Rising Sun Theater Group and turned them into assets for the Research Institute, their power would be enough to dominate the city, and even the Night Watchers wouldn’t be able to touch them.
It had to be said, this was incredibly greedy, but it was also in their nature.
“The highest experimental subject must be acquired; of course, the Rising Sun Theater Group cannot be ignored. Since they are here, we should seize the opportunity. After all, having so many ultra star eclipses appear together is a rare occasion! The last time we captured an ultra star eclipse was a year ago, and competing with the Night Watchers is still too much.”
“Right, we absolutely need the highest experimental subject, and we can’t let the Rising Sun Theater Group slip through our fingers. But before that, we need to wait for the latest research results to come out.”
The so-called research results referred to the number one and number two artificial star eclipses.
They were more complete and stronger than the three, four, and five models.
The star eclipses fused within them were also the strongest, and as artificial star eclipses, they were an incomprehensible disaster, capable of destroying a city.
They had little faith that the mere Night Watchers of Qi Yuan City could fend off two fully completed research results. With a few additional assets, taking on the Night Watcher organization would be a piece of cake.
And once the Night Watchers were dealt with, they could think about how to handle the Rising Sun Theater.
“What about the art and entertainment circle?”
“Send a few people there to keep an eye on things. Fewer people, so we don’t draw the Night Watchers’ suspicion. If any suspicious individuals show up, take note, and remember: don’t engage! There might be plenty of Night Watchers patrolling around.”
“Got it.”
…
One night passed.
The next day came.
Night Star had already canceled her alarm clock settings because she realized Night Lan didn’t have to worry about the environment of the theater; she could get up as usual.
In fact, the alarm clock was interfering with Night Lan’s sleep quality!
Overall, naturally waking up was the best, especially since there was no work to do.
Today, Night Star was just going to wander outside, and this time, she was going out with Lianhua and Kong Yu Bai.
Shopping with friends was the true joy; otherwise, it was just too boring.
After a quick wash, Night Star and the others stepped out of the theater and into the bustling streets.
“Night Star, where are we going to play today?”
“Hmm, we haven’t been to the gaming entertainment district in this city, so I want to check it out.”
She had said before that once she finished exploring all the characteristic areas here, she could chill out freely.
Now she just needed to hit the gaming entertainment district, and that was the last one!
Lianhua and Kong Yu Bai naturally had no objections; Night Star’s plans were their plans. Wherever she wanted to go, they’d follow.
But before that, Night Star needed to grab some breakfast.
Off to the dining and entertainment district it is. Eating breakfast on the outskirts there was quite nice—the breakfast quality was way better than in the regular areas, so Night Star chose that spot.
Plus, the dining and entertainment district was really close to the gaming entertainment district, so it might as well have been on the way.
Before long, the three arrived at the dining and entertainment district, ready to find a breakfast spot.
Suddenly, Night Star spotted two familiar figures—a black-haired girl and a white-haired girl.
Upon seeing them, Night Star froze immediately.
“Lianhua, Kong Yu Bai, let’s take a detour…”
“Why?”
“Because we encountered some serious people, and if they spot us, it’s going to be a hassle.”
Night Star muttered as she tried to sneak around to the back of the two, planning to push them away quickly.
But it was too late.
The more you don’t want something to happen, the more it tends to occur.
The tall white-haired girl seemed to notice Night Star’s group and walked over without hesitation.
“Audience Performer, what a coincidence! Are you also here for breakfast?”
“Nope, you’ve got the wrong person; I’m not the Audience Performer.”
Night Star ducked behind Kong Yu Bai, as if trying her best to hide, using her Existence Interference to the limit.
Unfortunately, a measly third of its power was hardly enough to keep Night Star hidden from the vigilant gaze of the Sunlight Night Watchers.
Shortly after, the black-haired girl who had been with Ice Lixie approached. She looked puzzled at first, but upon seeing Night Star’s group, her expression froze.
“Are they…?”
Ice Lixie chuckled lightly and took over the conversation from the black-haired girl.
“You guessed right, Qianmeng. They are the Audience Performer, Singer, and Puppet Master from the Rising Sun Theater Group.”
Upon hearing this, Mo Qianmeng was taken aback, her body instinctively tensed, already prepared to unleash her star power.
However, Ice Lixie quickly grabbed her arm as she was about to raise it and shook her head. “No need to be tense; at least for now, they pose no danger. They should just be out shopping today, and right now, they’re here for breakfast. It’s perfectly normal behavior.”
Mo Qianmeng stared at Ice Lixie in confusion, as if questioning why she knew so much.
She felt as if Ice Lixie and the Rising Sun Theater Group had some kind of secret she wasn’t aware of.
Lianhua and Kong Yu Bai were equally curious, inspecting the tall white-haired girl before them.
Just when did Night Star get to know this Night Watcher, especially one of the Sunlight rank?
At that moment, Night Star resignedly stepped out from behind Kong Yu Bai, an expression of helplessness on her face.
“Uh, you’re right; we were indeed planning to have breakfast.”
Ice Lixie turned to Mo Qianmeng with a glint in her eye. “See? I told you so!”
“Um…”
Mo Qianmeng didn’t even know what to say.
Just yesterday, someone told her to try to interact more with the Rising Sun Theater Group.
And now, she runs into them while out for breakfast?!
Could this be what they call destiny?
Mo Qianmeng felt as if Mo Tu had already predicted this scene, and that the words he told her were meant to make her reflect on it now.
Good or bad?
But curiosity was still curiosity; she was quite intrigued about what the relationship between Ice Lixie and the Rising Sun Theater Group was.
It was surprising how calm and gentle she was towards the potentially dangerous group members, like she truly believed in someone.
Then, Ice Lixie kept speaking.
“Since you’re here for breakfast, why not join us?”
“Uh?” Night Star looked at her in confusion.
“Actually, we’re here for breakfast too! Since we’re so fated, what’s wrong with taking this opportunity to chat a bit?”
Ice Lixie’s friendly attitude and tone were almost impossible to refuse.
