Chapter 264: Did She Cry Because of the Scolding?
The moment Li Jia and Guo Yao saw that the newcomers were Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang, they understood right away and expressed a bit of regret as they told Xia Yu, “Alright, alright, since that’s the case, we won’t wait for you. Let’s grab a meal together next time!”
With that, the two little lolis grabbed each other’s hands and dashed out the door, afraid that if they were late, the cafeteria would run out of delicious food.
It was only at this moment that Xia Yu lazily got up and looked at Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling, asking, “Did Sister Little Ning say what we should do?”
“She did! She said we just need to wait here, she’ll come to pick us up later,” Jiang Hanhang replied.
As she said that, Jiang Hanhang casually pulled out her phone and plopped down on a chair to fiddle with it. She then looked up at Xia Yu and Xia Ling, invitingly saying, “Hey, Little Yu, Little Ling, wanna team up for a game? Sister said she’ll be here later.”
“How long do we have to wait?”
“Probably about twenty to thirty minutes. Sister also said we could play a match of Honor of Kings first, and by the time we finish, she should be along.”
Xia Yu and Xia Ling exchanged glances. Since Jiang Kekai said so, they might as well go along with it. They took out their phones, powered them on, and jumped into the game lobby… Meanwhile, Jiang Kekai, sporting a pair of sunglasses, confidently strolled to the school gate. Wasting no time, she stepped outside.
Seeing the Young Lady arrive, the Jiang Family bodyguards immediately surrounded her—a scene so grand, one might mistake it for a gang assembly.
Naturally, the security guards at the gate were too scared to intervene; who would dare mess with such a show of force? After all, their own lives were a bit more important than their jobs, right?
Standing at the school gate, Jiang Kekai glanced in one direction and slowly said, “Alright, you guys, stop hiding. Come out; don’t think I don’t know.” As her words finished, a whole bunch of people popped out from various hiding spots. They weren’t dressed as nicely as the Jiang family, but they were decent enough.
Then, the sound of approaching luxury cars drew near. Three different notable vehicles pulled up to the gate, with drivers skilled enough to park right next to Jiang Kekai.
“Miss Jiang, it’s good to see you,” said the first to emerge, Doctor Y. He didn’t panic when Jiang Kekai unveiled his secret, handling the encounter with cool composure.
After all, the worst he’d ever done to the Jiang family was snag T Doctor’s hard work; it wasn’t exactly a bl**d feud, so he had no reason to be scared.
The second to step out was a head of the Huang family, who merely stood there in silence, flaunting his family’s pride. The last to arrive was from the Lin family, as Lin Hai was busy with important matters and couldn’t come to babysit, leaving behind another family representative instead.
Given the previous business between the Jiang and Lin families, the Lin family representative naturally held some grudge toward the Jiang family, including Jiang Kekai. Seeing Huang’s arrogance, he couldn’t resist mimicking it.
Well, it seemed Jiang Kekai had effectively exposed the hidden forces lingering around the gate—most of them were threats to both her and Xia Yu. Stepping out from her protective circle of bodyguards, she looked at the three distinguished individuals and issued a stern warning:
“I don’t care what you’re here for; stay away from Xia Yu, or don’t blame me for the consequences.”
“Miss Jiang, the world is vast; what we do here is none of your business, right? Besides, Xia Yu isn’t part of the Jiang family; you have no right to interfere,” replied Doctor Y.
Jiang Kekai took off her sunglasses and shot a side-eye at this old man in his lab coat, her tone dripping with sarcasm: “Don’t think I don’t know your intentions. Xia Yu is under my wing; I have every right to meddle.”
“Well, she has the right to choose too, doesn’t she? I want to talk to her. We’ve never spoken; how can you assume she wouldn’t accept my offer?”
“I already said she’s mine.”
And so, Jiang Kekai and Doctor Y squared off.
Just then, the Lin family representative chimed in, “How about this, Miss Jiang? I don’t know if you remember, but you owe my Lin family a favor. Why not make use of this opportunity to repay it? I assure you, Xia Yu won’t be in any danger.”
Unexpectedly, Jiang Kekai gave him a disdainful glance, “Who are you? A dog for the Lin family? What authority do you have to guarantee anything? As for the favor your family claims, I’ll repay it later myself. You should just give up on anything concerning Xia Yu.”
With that, she turned to the Huang family representative: “So, Huang family, is it? Your people that came over the last time? I handled them; what of it? Are you here for revenge? Well, I’m right here.”
As Jiang Kekai’s words sank in, her bodyguards stood firmly behind her, wearing sunglasses and looking down upon everyone. “You… Jiang Kekai, let me give you some advice: don’t be too arrogant. Be careful not to draw the ire of someone you shouldn’t.”
Faced with Jiang Kekai’s fierce retort, the Huang family representative began to stutter. In truth, he had never encountered such an audacious girl before.
However, Jiang Kekai was unfazed, confidently snapping back: “Arrogant? I have every right to be! Go on, try to make a move right here. As for whom I might provoke later…”
She stepped closer to him, her tone still over-the-top, “You—are—not—in-charge.”
For a brief moment, Jiang Kekai felt like spitting on his car window, but thanks to her impeccable upbringing, she held herself back. Now, she stood firmly against all three factions, showing no fear of their influences.
The school security guards huddled in the security room, avoiding this mess like it was the plague. Honestly, it was quite exciting, but they didn’t dare step out and snap pictures, fearing they might get pummelled. Though they couldn’t intervene, they quickly contacted the enforcement team; having so many people loitering at the school gate for such a long time might earn them a reprimand from their superiors.
As expected, not long after Jiang Kekai confronted the three, the enforcement team arrived in droves at the school gate.
The leader was reluctant to stir up trouble, but with the situation unfolding right before him, he had no choice but to face it.
Fortunately, as it turned out, the crowd was merely posturing and hadn’t started throwing punches. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have known how to handle it.
The enforcement leader stepped forward personally to diffuse the situation, saying, “Um… could you all take your conversation somewhere else? This is a school, and having so many people gathered like this is quite disruptive.”
They needed to give the enforcement team due respect. At the end of the day, it was an official organization; if they got peeved, their backing could turn against them—it would definitely be a messy situation if the higher-ups got involved.
So, in the end, Doctor Y, the Lin family representative, and the Huang family representative decided to cut their losses, waving hands to disperse their people. Some left, sulking in their cars, unwilling to engage Jiang Kekai further.
Jiang Kekai also dispersed her bodyguards before turning to the enforcement leader, saying, “Thanks for your trouble.”
Hearing this, the enforcement leader was a bit taken aback, immediately grinning, “No trouble at all! This is a school; having so many people congested here not only hampers traffic but could also affect the students inside.”
As he spoke, he glanced inside the school to find a horde of curious students gathering to watch the commotion. Jiang Kekai nodded, “Alright, since the issue has been resolved, I’ll be heading back now.”
With that, Jiang Kekai left the enforcement leader in the dust, heading back inside the school. After all, her Little Cutie Xia Yu was still waiting for her!
Watching Jiang Kekai’s departing figure and glancing around at the now near-empty school gate, the enforcement leader wiped the sweat from his brow. He hated dealing with family disputes the most!
Back in the game, two rounds had ended, and they had lost both, facing plenty of beautiful but cutting remarks from their teammates.
As a result, Xia Yu dropped her phone and said, “Hanhang, where did Sister Little Ning go? Why is she taking so long?”
“My sister doesn’t inform me about her business! She just told us to wait, and she’ll come find us later.” Jiang Hanhang replied, clearly a bit frustrated. They had been waiting for half an hour! Her sister was too much sometimes.
Just then, the three girls’ longing was fulfilled as Jiang Kekai finally appeared.
Jiang Kekai stood at the classroom door, feeling too lazy to go inside, her expression softening into a warm smile as she faced the three: “Are you hungry? We can go eat now!”
Xia Yu had been eagerly anticipating this moment.
As soon as Jiang Kekai’s words left her lips, Xia Yu couldn’t contain herself and rushed forward to embrace Jiang Kekai, adopting a slightly spoiled tone like a little wife wronged, “Sister Little Ning, why did it take you so long to come?!”
Xia Yu’s enthusiasm caught Jiang Kekai off guard, and she glanced at her sister, Jiang Hanhang, with confusion: “What’s up with Little Yu?”
“Who knows? Maybe she was about to cry after losing so badly in Honor of Kings.” Jiang Hanhang responded, unfazed.
Then, Jiang Hanhang took Xia Ling’s hand and walked over to Jiang Kekai, her curiosity piqued: “Sister, where are we heading now? What were you doing earlier? Why did it take so long?”
This aligned perfectly with Xia Yu’s question. With her eyes already shimmering with impending tears, she turned to Jiang Kekai, asking, “Sister Little Ning, where did you go? Why did it take you so long?”
