Chapter 27

“Was that thing back there really a monster?”

Li Mo thought about it for a moment, then decided something was off.

The Divine Edge Cave is within the Qingyuan Sect, and the entrance is guarded by inner sect attendants. How could a monster possibly get in?

It’s probably just some ugly senior disciple…

Li Mo no longer dwelled on this.

Step—

His foot had already stepped onto the fourth level.

The sharp, oppressive energy that rushed towards him made even him, someone who just started seeing results in physical training, feel a near-crushing pressure.

His flesh was as tough as a peak mortal weapon, yet he still felt a slight stinging sensation.

“Even the stray energy here is this terrifying.”

“Stronger than the third level by more than tenfold!”

Li Mo took a light breath, only for his innards to experience some tingling sensations.

Good thing he’d trained his internal organs and meridians as well. Otherwise, there’s no way he’d be able to hold up right now.

“What kind of weapons are cultivated on this level?”

Li Mo glanced up.

He saw that on the massive fourth level, half was covered with frost, while the other half was so hot that the air shimmered from the heat.

Remember, this is inside a cave.

Such a scene is utterly bizarre.

There were also fewer weapons left compared to previous levels.

In total, only nine stone pedestals remained, each with a weapon planted into it.

The first one held an entirely crimson, crystalline longsword.

As Li Mo approached, he noticed an inscription carved in front of the stone pedestal:

“Cast by the first head of Shenbing Peak, Zhu Zizhong, inspired by the twin suns in the sky, modeled after the number nine weapon on the Continental Divine Weapons Chart, ‘Skyburn,’ and named the Crimson Sky Sword upon its completion.”

That was the first line on the pedestal.

A Divine-level weapon!

Weapons were ranked in this order: Mundane, Earth, Sharp, Famous.

Above Famous was the Divine tier.

A Divine weapon…

As for above Divine?

Even Li Mo didn’t know. He’d never even heard of it.

But judging by the words engraved here, this so-called Crimson Sky Sword was merely a replica of the actual Divine Skyburn Sword. The original must be even more terrifying.

“The Continental Divine Weapons Chart…”

“The first head of Shenbing Peak…”

Li Mo was astonished.

According to his understanding, the current Shenbing Peak can only forge a Famous weapon after a long while.

Back in the day, they could forge Divine Weapons?

Doesn’t that mean this sword was made when the Da Yu Dynasty had only just unified the world?

There was more writing below, so Li Mo continued reading.

[Qin Xiaomeng, the fourth head of Qunyu Peak of Qingyuan Sect, came to retrieve the sword today!]

[ Luo Rulong, the tenth head of Qunyu Peak of Qingyuan Sect, respectfully requested the Crimson Sky Sword!]

[ Yue Hong, the thirteenth head of Luoxia Peak of Qingyuan Sect, having achieved mastery in Fiery Sun Sword Technique, requests the Crimson Sky Sword!]

The farther back the inscriptions were, the longer the gaps between each sword retrieval.

Li Mo couldn’t help but reflect.

This shows that there are fewer and fewer members of the Qingyuan Sect eligible to wield this Divine weapon.

And…

This sword seemed to have gone missing for some time.

[Shang Wu, the thirty-third head of Qunyu Peak of the Qingyuan Sect, retrieved the Crimson Sky Sword after slaying a grade ‘Tian’ assassin from Misty Rain Tower.]

Li Mo scanned the nine pedestals.

The chronology was evident, but the general content was similar to the first one.

Three pedestals were empty; it wasn’t clear if the weapons were lost or were in the hands of some higher-ups in the sect.

He got the gist of it.

The weapons here were all Divine-tier weapons forged by Shenbing Peak through the generations.

Anyone who could win the recognition of a Divine weapon could become its master.

When one lost the ability to govern such a weapon, they were obligated to return it.

“How does one become a weapon master?”

It would be lying if Little Li said he wasn’t envious.

A Divine weapon…

It was something he dreamt of having, a sleek, magnificent longsword.

Of the two swords on the pedestal, one was named Tian Shuang, and the other, of course, was Crimson Sky.

Buzz—

Suddenly, a resonant sword hum sounded.

It was as though the sword sensed Li Mo’s proximity.

The Crimson Sky Sword quivered where it was planted in the pedestal.

The next moment.

Li Mo’s eyes widen in awe.

Not far away, a figure of a swordsman appeared, standing silently with a sword on their back.

The swordsman’s face couldn’t be seen, and they wore a very plain short shirt—but there was an innate air of sharpness emanating from them.

They did not speak, but Li Mo somehow understood their intentions.

“Draw your sword.”

Draw his sword?

Li Mo retrieved a feedback Qing Steel Sword from the system space.

This was his first time practicing swordplay with an actual sword, and he was a bit excited inside.

Will my newly trained superior sword technique not be enough to handle you?

Ten minutes later.

Li Mo instinctively held his chest and forced open his eyes.

In a daze, he had felt as though his sword had pierced through his own chest. Although he wasn’t really injured, the illusory pain was still searing hot.

He hadn’t been able to block the technique from his sword even with his newly accomplished moves.

The Crimson Sky Sword fell silent once more.

“It seems I must perfect a superior martial art before I can become a weapon master.”

Looking down at the inscriptions on the pedestal, Li Mo recovered.

After hesitating for a second, he shook his head and started enhancing his physical training on the ground.

The more advanced a martial skill gets, the harder it gets.

Seventy-six points of martial insight wasn’t enough to perfect his Phoenixfire technique.

If he had a hundred points, he might be able to give it a go.

With that mind, he glanced toward the nearby stone wall.

“I felt something beckoning me the first day I came to the Divine Edge Cave.”

“But there wasn’t really a way forward.”

“Could it be I have to break this wall?”

At the entrance of Divine Edge Cave.

A silence hung in the air.

This was because the previously lofty Yin Huacheng just walked out looking quite disheveled.

His eyes were full of shadowy anger, and the cloud-patterned robe he wore was now torn into strips, his entire body covered in scratches.

He wasn’t severely injured, after all. Since the Famous weapons couldn’t be controlled, they autonomously activated against him. With his physique, it was just superficial damage.

What puzzled him was why every single Famous weapon rejected him but favored some random junior disciple like a moth to flame.

It’s exactly like your dream girl suddenly runs off into the arms of a guy you just met!

Ruin my life!!!

“It’s because I’m not strong enough.”

Yin Huacheng clenched his fists and left for the back mountain of Shenbing Peak.

Far away, someone was waiting for him.

That towering, muscular figure was none other than Fu Tu.

“How did you mess up?”

Seeing his disheveled look, Fu Tu raised an eyebrow.

“What about that vessel you wanted?”

Yin Huacheng crossed his arms behind his back, ignoring the question entirely.

“I told you about Wang Hu; leopard waist, tiger arms. I’ve already fed him the Beast Formula.”

Fu Tu’s lips curled in disdain. “He even thanked me.”

“Hmm.”

Yin Huacheng nodded with a flicker of calculation in his eyes.

Fu Tu knew he was the type who couldn’t stand to lose even the smallest face, so he added:

“Rome wasn’t built in a day. Stick to the old rules and wait until the sect trial to deal with him.”

“I’ll judge that.”

Yin Huacheng spoke with impatience.

A few moments later, he asked again:

“Recently, isn’t there supposed to be a group of outer sect disciples returning to their hometowns?”

“You’re not letting them go, either?”

Fu Tu seriously inspected his expression.

Yin Huacheng coldly snorted, “Got Qingyuan Sect’s care, do you really think it’s that easy to return in glory? That bunch of slugs getting to be of some last use for me would be their greatest honor.”

Hundred Beast bl**d Refinement? No wonder it’s a forbidden art.

Practicing too much of it will make anyone crazy.

Fu Tu secretly sneered, but on the surface, he feigned hesitation.

“Don’t forget who vouched for you to get into Qingyuan Sect.”

Yin Huacheng added a threatening quality to his tone: “I know.”

Fu Tu didn’t really plan to refuse; he feigned some reluctant thought before nodding:

“Fine, I’ll think of something for you.”

As Fu Tu was about to leave, not taking even two steps before being questioned again by Yin Huacheng.

“What’s the back story of that Li guy who advanced to the inner sect?”

“That’s Qunyu Peak’s only hope.”

Fu Tu said with a somewhat amused smirk. “Don’t even think about him. If you piss off Shang Wu, even Senior Yin can’t protect you.”

“Qunyu Peak… Li Mo.”

Yin Huacheng muttered, as if to engrave the name in his memory.

The fourth level of the Divine Edge Cave!

Only the Elders of the various peaks or physical training experts who’ve reached the Observation Realm have a chance to face Divine weapons here.

There must be some extraordinary treasure with that guy!

Yeah, it’s definitely the treasure.

Yin Huacheng’s anger subsided, replaced by a burning heat.
