“Admin Sis, do you know who’s singing the song that’s currently playing?”
“Who?”
Night Star proudly patted her chest.
“It’s me! I sing like a pro, even the world-renowned songstresses say it’s amazing!”
“That’s really surprising.”
This time, the administrator was genuinely surprised.
Because last time when Ice Lixie visited the library, she had mentioned this song. She said it was the hottest track lately, with the voice of the songstress deeply touching and the lyrics so captivating that it was a top-notch masterpiece in all aspects.
She remembered Ice Lixie mentioning the name of that songstress.
“So, you’re the Starry Sky Songstress?”
“Mmm, yep, it’s me.”
“Ice Lixie loves your music. She even talked about it with me last time.”
“Shocked to hear that the Sunlight Night Watcher is actually a fan of mine?”
Night Star gave an expression like a cat in shock, as if she hadn’t expected this.
The administrator nodded.
“She likes music. Since your songs are good, she would naturally enjoy them too.”
“Ah, that makes sense. Then do you like it, Admin Sis?”
“I guess it’s okay, but mostly I’m just not used to listening to music while reading. And I spend most of my time reading, you know…”
Night Star got it. It seemed the administrator didn’t listen to much music and wasn’t very interested either.
But there was Night Star.
“Mmmm~ Anyway, having an interest in music isn’t bad. Reading alone can get pretty boring. I’ll make sure you fall in love with music from here on, starting with my voice.”
Night Star didn’t know why she said such embarrassing things, but it just came out naturally.
Hearing this, a tiny corner of the administrator’s lips curled up imperceptibly.
“You better work hard then.”
“Mmm, I’ll show you my real talent right away.”
So, Night Star and the administrator found themselves a music booth. The equipment was perfect; they could sing or record with ease. This setup was similar to the one she and Blank Songstress used last time.
The administrator sat on the sofa, watching Night Star pick out songs. Her vision began to blur as memories flashed by.
It had been a long time since she put down her books. Since she began spending most of her days in the library, her memories of places like the Film and Television Entertainment District and the Music Entertainment District became fuzzy. Even the path to the Calligraphy and Painting Entertainment District became unclear.
She picked up books to drown out her sorrow and waited for fate to fulfill her obsession.
Now with no books, old memories slowly started returning, triggered by the actions of this silver-haired girl before her.
It felt nostalgic, a bit like the carefree days she once spent with her friends. Time had witnessed dynasties change, technology leap forward, and society transform. Each moment was etched in her mind.
Back in those days, she was simply a girl who believed living forever would be awesome. But, as time passed, she realized her earlier thoughts were mistaken.
Focus returned to reality.
Night Star seemed to have picked her songs.
She planned to sing the new song written by Blank Rain White and the songs of Blank Songstress and Clean Mist Songstress. These were the only two songs she knew well enough to sing by heart.
“Mmm, let’s get this over with.”
Hearing this, the administrator snapped out of her daze and stared silently at Night Star.
“I’ll listen closely.”
As the accompaniment played, Night Star’s melodious voice filled the room. The administrator was stunned by the live performance. There was something magical about hearing someone sing live compared to recorded music, especially when accompanied by the sight of the singer in action. It felt almost angelic.
Even though she’d experienced many hardships, this voice seemed to cast a spell, drawing her in deeper than any book could.
Wow, incredible!
Listening to this voice made the administrator feel like it was worth dying for, somehow filling a void inside and recalling moments of joy from the past.
Even if hazy, these were sweet melodies that recalled fond memories.
The song ended.
Night Star took a breath.
Looking at the administrator, she asked hopefully, “How was my singing? Not bad, right?”
Lowering her head initially, the administrator lifted it again, smiling gently.
“Yes, it was lovely. Thank you for letting me hear such a beautiful voice.”
Seeing the smile, Night Star froze and suggested, “Your smile is really pretty, Admin Sis. You should smile more often.”
“But I hardly have anything worth smiling about,” the administrator admitted softly.
Night Star volunteered, “Then I’ll definitely make you smile more!”
“You’d better try hard then…”
The administrator whispered, her resolve wavering.
This performer was sincere and genuinely wanted to befriend her. Every move showed her earnestness and desire to please.
It’s true. Her approach was so likable that few could refuse.
If she were any other person, she would be no different.
But she decided long ago not to make friends; it only led to pain. Now, with some obsession, she risked hurting others. This was contradictory.
Can she really hurt this girl?
Perhaps…
I must be this selfish kind of person.
To end her own suffering, she deceived fate and caused heartache.
That was so selfish.
Back to reality.
Night Star had no idea what the administrator was thinking but sensed her mood sinking.

“Ugh! Next, let’s head to the Game Entertainment District. There’s loads of fun games.”
“Sounds good.”
The administrator agreed.
Over the next few hours, Night Star led the way with a happy face, dragging the administrator along to the gaming district.
After a whole day here, Night Star knew the place like the back of her hand, no longer worrying about getting lost or clueless.
The administrator already had an account, so they could play straight away.
Night Star glanced at her admin’s game level.
“Huh? Wow, Admin Sis, you’re such a low-level gamer.”
Just a mere twenty-something, looking like they didn’t play often.
That made sense, after all, she preferred books over games.
If she dedicated book-reading time to gaming, she’d be a high-level champion!
The administrator checked Night Star’s level.

But then, perhaps she just began playing today herself.
Rising ten levels is pretty impressive.
This moment, Night Star grabbed the administrator’s hand, grinning happily.
