Ignoring the whispers and gossip, Jiang Kekai, smiling, held Xia Yu’s hand as they entered the grand villa. She paid no mind to what others were thinking—she was just enjoying the moment.
Entering the splendid villa, Jiang Kekai didn’t stop; instead, she continued up the stairs, still holding Xia Yu’s hand.
Indeed, being the second largest city in all of China, Jiang Kekai had visited Peng City early on, and this villa was one she had purchased herself. She even had her own room here, albeit she hadn’t visited in quite some time.
Arriving at another intricately decorated door, Jiang Kekai pressed the fingerprint scanner nearby, and the door opened with a click.
Even though she hadn’t been here in a long time, the rooms were always kept spotless by dedicated cleaners. Dust and grime were non-existent.
“Alright, Xia Yu, this will be our room from now on. What do you think? If you don’t like it, I’ll discuss with Aunt Ying. Aunt Hu can switch it to something you prefer,” Jiang Kekai cheerily invited.
The room was warm and yellow, different from those at her home but definitely cute. Xia Yu couldn’t bear to trouble her Little Ning Sister.
“No, Little Ning Sister, I really like it. How long are we staying here?”
“Of course, until we go back. You wouldn’t want to stay somewhere else, would you?” Jiang Kekai curiously looked at Xia Yu, her Little Cutie.
“No… It’s not that bad.”
“That’s good! This will be our room in Demon City. I’ll set up your fingerprint to enter. Besides the fingerprint, only a special card can access the room. That card is with the butler for cleaning purposes.”
Setting everything up, Jiang Kekai input Xia Yu’s fingerprint details, put down the luggage, and Xia Yu obediently followed.
Truth be told, coming to a new place made Xia Yu more dependent on Jiang Kekai than ever. She never wanted to be apart from her Little Ning Sister.
Jiang Kekai noticed this and wasn’t opposed to it. Who would turn down someone they liked getting closer?
After setting the bed, Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu took a bath together to wash away the travel weariness. They fell asleep in each other’s arms, smelling fresh.
But things weren’t as comfortable for Jiang Bin. Busy with work, he returned to his room to catch up. Zhang Yunzhi aided him in sorting things out. Jiang Dong, meanwhile, stayed in his room playing games, barely catching any sleep.
As expected, when Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai woke up, the sun was already high in the sky, shining through the curtains. Clearly, it was late morning.
Sure enough, when Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai checked their phones, it was already ten o’clock—a little past lunchtime.
Then, Jiang Kekai heard Xia Yu’s stomach growling loudly. She chuckled and said, “Xia Yu, are you hungry? Do you want me to get you something delicious?”
“Sure.”
Hearing talk of food, Xia Yu, who was a bit dazed earlier, perked up immediately. Who knew what tasty stuff was available? Jiang Kekai playfully pinched Xia Yu’s adorable cheek.
“Little foodie.”
At that moment, Xia Yu mustered up a sudden courage and hugged Jiang Kekai tightly, burying her face in her chest.
Jiang Kekai paused, then patted Xia Yu’s bottom gently, saying, “Alright, aren’t you hungry? Get up, or else I might eat you!”
“How do you eat me?”
Xia Yu clung tighter, asking in a cute voice, unaware of the implications.
“Xia Yu is too young to be eaten, but once you’re older, we’ll see. Alright, get up and let’s find something good to eat.”
Jiang Kekai dodged the question, unwilling to spoil Xiao Yu’s innocence. She helped Xia Yu get off the bed. It was getting colder, so they should dress properly.
Since everyone in the family, including her parents and older brother, knew about Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai insisted on dressing her in pretty dresses rather than neutral clothes.
“Little Ning Sister.”
When Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu reappeared, the Jiang household staff greeted them politely, seeing them every time. Xia Yu was fascinated by this scene and watched like a curious child, albeit remaining silent.
Similarly, Jiang Kekai nodded in acknowledgment without much response.
However, upon meeting the household manager, Jiang Kekai spoke up: “Tell my parents I’m out with Xia Yu for the day and not to wait for us for lunch.”
“Understood, Young Lady. Enjoy your day!”
Watching Jiang Kekai mature into such a poised figure, the household manager felt genuinely happy, recalling Jiang Kekai’s younger days when she was just a short girl.
With Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu leaving, the bodyguards reduced their presence outside the villa, discreetly following behind.
In the car, Xia Yu turned into a curious baby again, asking, “Little Ning Sister, what do you think we’ll eat today?”
“What do you want to eat, Xia Yu?”
Jiang Kekai playfully asked her. Xia Yu thought for a moment before suggesting, “Let’s try specialty foods. What kind of specialty foods are there around here?”
The driver chuckled, knowing well about this: “There are many options given how big the city is. Some suggestions include pan-fried buns, pork rib rice cakes, and steamed dumplings. And don’t forget the braised noodles with green onions. Trust me, they’re delicious.”
Though Jiang Kekai knew these foods, she appreciated the driver’s recommendations. “Do you know where we can find authentic versions of these? It’s been a while since I’ve come back.”
“You came to the right person. Let’s go!”
Soon, the car stopped at an alleyway’s entrance. There were plenty of people around, but the street couldn’t accommodate cars.
The driver led them to a small stall within the alley: “This place has authentic street snacks. The owner is a local—some became wealthy and bought multiple properties, keeping it low-key.”
Jiang Kekai nodded, acknowledging the driver’s enthusiasm.
“Alright, let’s get out here. You can head back; we’ll notify you when we need a ride back.”
“No problem, enjoy your day,” the driver replied cheerfully, without feeling any discomfort due to Jiang Kekai’s status of a Young Lady.
Hand in hand, Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu exited the car.
As the weather turned cooler, the sunlight became pleasantly warm. People bustled around, mostly adults, as children were in school.
Yet nothing could dampen their spirits. They ignored the stares and enjoyed themselves.

Jiang Hanhang approached Director He Gongxing boldly and commanded, “I’ll be taking a leave, same as my older sister, and also for Xia Ling.”
Neither could Jiang Kekai nor Jiang Hanhang be trifled with. He Gongxing dared not refuse.
Yet he was confused, “Why ask for separate leaves when you’re both taking time off? Why not at the same time?”
“Does it matter? If I say so.”
“Sure, sure,” He Gongxing laughed nervously, knowing well he could not refuse their requests despite the inconvenience.
After filling out forms on his computer, he printed two sheets: “Just fill these out and return them.”
Hanhang frowned, “Do my sister need to fill this also? I never knew.”
