Chapter 274

Chapter 273: Wife-Defending Maniac Little Ning

After stuffing their faces, Jiang Kekai decided to take Xia Yu on a shopping spree for some stylish clothes—after all, she didn’t want her silly little sister sneaking peeks at handsome boys when she wasn’t looking!

Naturally, Xia Yu was over the moon about this. Sure, she was a girl now, but everyone has an eye for beauty, right? And being cool is a type of beauty too! Xia Yu’s obsession with looking good was hardly a surprise.

Before long, Xia Yu was transformed into a total tomboy—stylishly cool and ready to take on the world.

However, when it came time to pay, Jiang Kekai didn’t pull out her wallet like she usually did. Instead, she handed Xia Yu a card. “This is your salary card. Remember the PIN?”

“Of course, I remember!”

This was the very first card Sister Little Ning had ever given her! Xia Yu definitely wouldn’t forget that, even if she might forget where she put it. “From now on, you need to learn how to pay for yourself. If I’m not around, I’m worried you won’t even know how to spend your money.” Jiang Kekai said with a serious face.

Xia Yu: “….”

Taking the card, Xia Yu turned to the giggling cashier and said, “Swipe it!”

Surprisingly, Xia Yu caught on quickly to the whole card swiping thing, especially with Jiang Kekai there to guide her. She was starting to feel less nervous about it.

As for the card, Jiang Kekai made sure Xia Yu would keep it safe. With so many rich kids in Demon City, she wouldn’t want her little cutie to get tricked by money or handsome boys!

Giving Xia Yu financial independence was one way to ensure her safety.

And since Xia Yu was so eager to grow up fast, why not indulge her a little? By evening, Jiang Kekai returned home with a smiling Xia Yu in tow, bags in hand.

They had spent the day exploring the fun spots nearby, satisfying Xia Yu’s curiosity, and buying a ton of stuff.

Let’s just say, money was not an issue for them.

Pulling into the parking lot filled with luxury cars, Jiang Kekai seemed to have an epiphany and turned to Xia Yu, who was busy with her phone. “Little Yu, we’re probably going to have a lot of guests at home tonight. Why don’t you just stay in your room when we get back? I’ll bring you some tasty snacks.”

“Sure!”

Xia Yu realized her lovely Sister Little Ning was just worried she wouldn’t handle the hustle and bustle of high society, so she graciously accepted the offer, not thinking of anything else.

Seeing her little cutie still acting so adorably clueless made Jiang Kekai cuddle her head affectionately. “That’s settled then. If you feel like coming out, I’ll be there with you.”

“Okay!”

The driver, overhearing the conversation between the two ladies, just thought to himself how nice it was to be young and get the pampering from a young lady like that.

Once they got out and entered the villa, Xia Yu was met with a bunch of well-dressed uncles sporting flashy watches and multiple rings. Truly the image of successful men!

People have their own styles, right? Some are low-key, others are flaunting it. However, this was the only image Xia Yu could see.

“Wow, Little Ning’s back! You’ve grown a lot in three years; I almost didn’t recognize you, and this is… your little boy—uh, hmm.”

Jiang Kekai merely nodded and didn’t argue, instead coldly dragging Xia Yu away from the confused uncle and on toward the party.

She didn’t want to get tangled up with those trying to cozy up to the Jiang family; that was better off for her father to handle since she was still just a kid.

Once they encountered the first uncle, another soon followed, and they all echoed the same thoughts about Xia Yu being Jiang Kekai’s secret little boyfriend—who just happened to look a bit too much like a girl!

“Oh, we’re not fooled!” they said, convinced they hadn’t been deceived by Xia Yu’s appearance. They even looked her up beforehand. The results? They were terribly shocked to discover this adorable creature was actually a boy and that Jiang Kekai wasn’t into girls!

Of course, it made sense; the glamorous young lady of the Jiang family couldn’t possibly be into girls, right? The more successful the men, the more they nodded in agreement. After all, little girls are usually into cute boys!

Finally, Jiang Kekai led a flustered Xia Yu back to their room. “So, Little Yu, were you shocked by the crowd earlier?”

Without strangers around, Jiang Kekai finally let her warm smile shine through—no pretense at all.

Without prying eyes, Xia Yu felt a lot more comfortable, flopping onto their princess bed and exclaiming, “Yeah, totally! I didn’t expect so many people at your place! There weren’t that many in the morning!”

“They’re all visiting my dad; and trust me, it’ll get even busier tonight. We might even have to eat outside in the yard! If anyone asks you anything, just say you don’t know,” Jiang Kekai warned.

“Got it, Sister Little Ning. You can relax! I’ll behave and not let you down.”

Watching the little cutie collapse onto the bed, her eyes drifting shut, Jiang Kekai pinched her cheek lightly. “Alright, if you’re so tired, take a shower and then get some sleep. I still need to go deal with some things.”

Xia Yu blinked in surprise. “Huh? Sister Little Ning, you’re still going down? I thought you only had to go when it was time to eat!”

“What do you think? Am I as lazy as you, you little silly goose?” Jiang Kekai teased, glancing at the purple bracelet Xia Yu was wearing. “You still haven’t fully recovered from that psychological nonsense, and with all these schemers around, I’m worried you’ll get tricked. So you better stay put here!”

“Fine…”

Though Xia Yu felt a bit unsatisfied for not helping her sister, what could she do? Blaming others for her sickness wouldn’t make sense. Watching Sister Little Ning leave, Xia Yu quickly returned to normal, life had to move on—time for a shower!

The new clothes they bought couldn’t be worn immediately, so Xia Yu had to settle for a girl’s outfit she and Jiang Kekai had brought. Luckily, she was less resistant to girl’s clothes now. So, she opened her little suitcase to rummage around and then checked Jiang Kekai’s bag too, finally digging out a skirt that would suffice.

With her phone blasting music, Xia Yu slipped into the bathroom, ready to shower while humming…
