### Chapter 274: Is Xia Yu a Boy or a Girl?
After a nice shower, Xia Yu felt great in the single room with its own bathroom. Xia Yu wasn’t scared at all, instead feeling pretty good about it. Oh, and this seemed to be her Little Ning Sister’s room.
After drying her hair, Xia Yu checked out the computer, then looked at the closet, and finally at the mess of stuff piled in one corner, which sparked a strong desire to hunt for some treasure. But she thought better of it. “Curiosity killed the cat,” she pondered. If she started rummaging through Little Ning’s things, what if she found something and ruined the birthday surprise?
So Xia Yu decided to control her curiosity and picked up a fluffy stuffed toy from the princess bed, sitting in front of the computer watching cartoons. Kids will be kids. Meanwhile, under the guidance of their Father, Jiang Kekai and Jiang Dong introduced themselves to the guests and got acquainted with them as well.
As the saying goes, rich kids grow up mostly at adult gatherings and become conditioned by what they see. After a half-hour of small talk, the meal at the main table of the Jiang household really began.
Jiang Kekai remembered her little girlfriend hidden away in the room. What if she’s starving?
She quickly got a big plate and started filling it with goodies: chicken legs, octopus, steaks—everything on board! “Take your time, uncles, aunts, and cousins. I have some stuff to handle.”
Polite as always, Jiang Kekai gathered the food and returned to her room. Who knows if the little adorable cutie got hungry?
But when she opened the door, Jiang Kekai had a moment of déjà vu. Xia Yu, hugging her plush toy and perched in front of the computer chair, looked like a younger sister… or maybe this little cute girl also enjoys being a homebody—probably wouldn’t even go out if not dragged by her.
“There you go, Xia Yu, stop watching. It’s time to eat.” Jiang Kekai spread out a folding table and set the plate on it for Xia Yu. “Do you want me to finish eating first?”
“How could you? Of course, I came here to eat with you. You don’t mind, right?” Xia Yu replied.
Suddenly, Xia Yu, who was sitting on the computer chair, held out her hands to Jiang Kekai. It was clear she wanted a hug. Jiang Kekai chuckled: “I give up on you. How do you get so clingy?”
Even so, Jiang Kekai enjoyed this closeness. There’s nothing better than being adored, right?
So, Jiang Kekai naturally embraced Xia Yu and brought her from the chair, tumbling onto the princess bed together. “Are you happy now? Ready to eat after playing?”
Pinching Xia Yu’s cheek, Jiang Kekai sat on the floor. The folding table was tiny, and lying on the carpet sounded comfy. Xia Yu followed suit, snuggling beside Jiang Kekai. Nobody else was around anyway; why not be a bit naughty?
Xia Yu was not without emotions. She felt the kindness from Little Ning and couldn’t possibly dislike her. So, now that they’re alone, she indulges a little.
This realization came to Xia Yu somehow over time.
Thus, dinner between Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai really started. With no one around, she felt comfortable laying down and resting on Jiang Kekai’s lap. “Ning Sister, you should feed me. It hurts my back sitting on the floor.” Jiang Kekai replied with a sigh…
Though a tad annoyed, Jiang Kekai went along with it because Xia Yu was her favorite. Anything to keep her happy. As they ate, someone knocked on the door.
Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu shared a glance. Xia Yu straightened her dress immediately to avoid any embarrassing exposures. Clink…
Jiang Kekai opened the door. Xia Yu noticed girls, rich kids, dressed elegantly outside. “What is it?”
Unlike with Xia Yu, Jiang Kekai didn’t stay sweet. They must be fishing for something.
Sure enough, one girl quickly handed Jiang Kekai a fancy black box: “Little Ning Sister, from my parents. They asked me to give this gift to you.”
“Yes, yes, take it, Little Ning Sister. Otherwise, it’ll be difficult later.” Other girls agreed.
Plenty of gifts overflowed Jiang Kekai’s arms, while the rich girls forced their way inside, pushing Xia Yu aside.
Noticing these girls and the ones behind, Jiang Kekai sighed, “Fine. Wait a bit, I’ll find somewhere to put you guys.”
She set the gifts down. Who knew what precious items were inside.
Before leaving, Jiang Kekai didn’t forget Xia Yu: “If you’re bored, come along too. And bring the plate to the servant.”
Xia Yu thought, “Wow!”
Jiang Kekai included her. Now that she agreed, everything should be okay.
Xia Yu grabbed the half-eaten plate and left the room with her.
Just then, one of the Jiang family servants passed by. Jiang Kekai stopped him with the plate. “Can you take care of this?”
The servants’ attention was on Xia Yu, curious about her. Right, they had seen Xia Yu’s photos before and heard she was likely Jiang Kekai’s boyfriend. That made sense, but she was wearing a skirt. What was going on? It baffled them.
Even though they were curious, they didn’t dare ask. What if it was rude? For now, they’d just have to figure it out.
