Chapter 275: Making Friends
Following Jiang Kekai’s lead, these rich young ladies and Xia Yu soon found themselves in a grand living room which Xia Yu had never visited before. It’s not like she hadn’t expected it, though. After all, this villa was huge, and Jiang Kekai couldn’t have shown her around in such a short time.
These wealthy girls, however, were quite familiar and at ease, not acting like first-timers. They comfortably settled down to chat as soon as they walked in.
Jiang Kekai wasn’t about to let her Little Cutie sit with other girls and took Xia Yu’s hand instead, settling both of them into a sizable armchair: “Feel free to chat about anything.”
Hearing the cold tone of Miss Big Miss Jiang, all the rich girls knew better than to provoke or challenge her. They’d rather just talk among themselves. However, their eyes couldn’t help darting towards Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu every now and then, curious about what made Xia Yu so special in Jiang Kekai’s eyes.
Though Jiang Kekai guessed what they were thinking, she didn’t bother explaining. She placed a hand on Xia Yu’s shoulder and asked, “Are you thirsty? Want anything to drink?”
“Milk tea,” Xia Yu replied automatically. “Fine.”
Scanning the room and finding nothing alarming, Jiang Kekai sighed and went off herself to get drinks. Gently stroking Xia Yu’s adorable head, Jiang Kekai reminded her before leaving, “Don’t wander off. Wait for me to return.” Phew~
Her gentle, caring tone was no shocker. The rich girls were still surprised by how much Jiang Kekai doted on Xia Yu. It made them wonder if Xia Yu knew exactly what Jiang Kekai liked.
Half a minute after Jiang Kekai left, one of the rich girls who was sitting next to Xia Yu couldn’t take it any longer. Leaning towards Xia Yu with a smile, she asked, “You’re Xia Yu, right? Got a question for you. Do you know what Little Ning likes?”
Oops! This question perplexed Xia Yu.
Xia Yu quickly thought back, remembering that whenever she offered something to Little Ning, whether it was food or a gift, Xiao Ning always accepted with a delighted face. If there was truly something Ning liked, Xia Yu remembered her confession, which made Xia Yu blush.
In reality, Xia Yu’s cheeks rapidly flushed. But she didn’t forget to answer the rich girl honestly, “No, I don’t think Little Ning has anything particularly she likes.”
This answer didn’t surprise the other eavesdropping wealthy girls, who felt let down. What kind of answer was that? Xia Yu must be close with Little Ning because they’ve known each other for quite some time.
Thinking for a moment, Xia Yu didn’t hide, “I’d say about half a year, maybe more.”
The rich girl clearly doubted this, “Just half a year?”
Xia Yu nodded, “Yes, about this year. We actually met because we were both kidnapped, then I got to know her.” Fellow suffering, isn’t it?
At that moment, everyone presumed they understood why Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu’s relationship was so good so quickly. Too bad, though, they didn’t have the luck to be part of it too.
“Why don’t we be friends?” suggested a girl, extending her hand. “My name is Zhang Huilin.”
Without hesitation, the neighboring rich girl, who seemed pretty decent, shook Xia Yu’s hand warmly.
Seeing this, others wanted in too. They stood up to introduce themselves, eager to become Xia Yu’s friend as well. But as they did, Jiang Kekai returned…
Upon Jiang Kekai’s appearance, the rich girls moved away from Xia Yu, as if retreating as if she were a teacher supervising.
Jiang Kekai sat beside Xia Yu and asked seriously, “What’s going on?”
Xia Yu nervously answered, “They just want to be friends.”
“Not a problem.” Relieved, Jiang Kekai’s stern expression softened as she patted Xia Yu’s head and said to the girls, “She’s my personal assistant, feel free to befriend her. But…”
With renewed sternness, Jiang Kekai clarified, “Xia Yu is mine. Keep your hands off her. Understand?”
Jiang Kekai, the first daughter of the top rich man, exerted power over these girls, making them apprehensive.
Yet a few weren’t intimidated. With their family status, they weren’t afraid – it wasn’t like Jiang Kekai would harm them. “Alright, alright, we know you’re Little Ming’s dear sister, but…”
A leading rich girl suggested, “We’re just here to make friends. No need to worry. We’ll only be friends with Xiao Yu, nothing else.”
“That’s great.” Jiang Kekai was a bit relieved yet wary. She feared Xia Yu could easily be deceived.
This called for strict supervision of Xia Yu, or else, anyone might exploit her naivety.
As if on cue, the milk tea Jiang Kekai ordered earlier was brought in, steaming hot with a rich fragrance.
Jiang Kekai poured two cups: one for Xia Yu and herself. She noticed Xia Yu’s special day was coming up and decided to treat her nicely.
Xia Yu’s choice of drink won her points with the girls. They appreciated her taste and felt closer to her.
When Jiang Dong walked in with a group of rich boys, Xia Yu noticed a gaming vibe. “Let’s play,” they all exclaimed, ready to team up for a game.
Unbeknownst to them, there was a plan afoot.
With Jiang Dong’s natural leadership, it was obvious he would succeed his father Jiang Bin. His friends shared his passion for games, creating a perfect opportunity for bonding.
Recognizing the dynamics, Jiang Kekai didn’t intervene – she trusted their elder brother to handle it.
Who wouldn’t want to play games to bond? It was almost like a social obligation. Xia Yu was thus invited to play by Zhang Huilin, “Join us, we’re short two players.”
Boredom mixed with the gaming atmosphere; Xia Yu agreed readily, “Sure.”
“I’ll join too then.”
To their surprise, even Miss Big Boss herself joined in. It was indeed a rare opportunity to bond with the notoriously aloof Jiang Kekai.
Unfortunately, only three spots were open when the others arrived.
Thus, Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu found themselves in Zhang Huilin’s lobby with three slots filled perfectly.
Then, the others sensed something amiss. Xia Yu’s gaming rank was merely noble level II – an embarrassment in their circle.
Zhang Huilin, noticing this, tried to offer to upgrade Xia Yu’s rank, turning to Jiang Kekai for approval. Jiang Kekai, however, was protective of Xia Yu and wouldn’t hear of it, declaring Xia Yu’s choices were her own.
Holding her ground, Zhang Huilin backed off.
