**Chapter 53: Doing Embarrassing Things**
Yun Chang City.
Inside the Sunset Research Institute.
A large laboratory was crowded with people—all researchers from various cities.
These folks were hired by entrepreneurs or powerful figures to study stars and star eclipses, forming the backbone of the Sunset Research Institute.
Today, they were all giddy with excitement to witness the launch of the latest research results.
“The Number One and Number Two Experiment Subjects have been fully calibrated! Their strength is 1000% that of Experiments Three, Four, and Five combined! The power they hold is more than enough to compensate for all the Star Holders lost at the Institute, and they might even be stronger!”
Upon hearing this, all the bigwigs on the screen perked up with anticipation.
“Let’s get them out ASAP.”
“Understood.”
With that, the researchers sprang into action, operating machinery that roared to life, shaking the lab.
Steam billowed from the sealed pod, revealing two n*ked dudes.
The researchers quickly pulled up their bodily data, ready to activate their consciousness.
Thanks to a cocktail of drugs and high-tech wizardry, the two rapidly opened their eyes, exuding an overwhelming star eclipse aura.
Boom!
This star eclipse aura spread to the energy barrier, barely managing to keep it contained, sparing the researchers from becoming collateral damage.
As they continued analyzing data, the researchers realized the aura they just emitted exceeded even the normal ultra star eclipses’ limits.
But would it hold up in battle?
They had all the confidence in the world for their Number One and Number Two experiment subjects.
The saying goes: it’s not that the star eclipse’s power is too violent; it’s that the weird star eclipses are the scariest disasters.
Once they unleash their might, even the powerful Sunlight Night Watchers wouldn’t dare to jump in and swing their weapons.
In the world of star eclipses, the oddball powers truly reign supreme.
One of these two subjects was a powerful, mysterious star eclipse with weird abilities, and paired with a brute force star eclipse, they could surely take down an entire city’s Night Watchers!
Not to mention, they could even capture all the members of the Rising Sun Theater Group.
But they’d have to wait until they got their hands on the top-tier experiment first.
“Great! Awesome!”
Hearing the researchers’ report on these two artificial star eclipses, the bigwigs erupted in satisfied laughter.
Such immense power—who needs to fear the Night Watchers now?
They could practically visualize the capture of the top-tier experiment and the members of the Rising Sun Theater Group happening right before their eyes.
Next, all they needed to do was wait for the right moment to act and draft a meticulous plan to unleash the true power of these two artificial star eclipses.
This time, failure was simply not an option!
“Report! The intel team has just come back, saying they’ve located the highest experiment’s whereabouts. Should we deploy immediately?”
“Not yet! Let’s finalize our strategy first; we need to play it safe.”
And so, the internal conflict in Yun Chang City was on the verge of igniting.
…
Later that night.
Night Star used the “Slip-Through Door” at the Rising Sun Theater to return to Yun Chang City, where she found herself back in her Fish Playing House, running straight into Night Lan for a warm embrace.
“Ah~ It’s been ages since we hugged like this!”
“Come to think of it, it’s only been a little over a week.”
“And yet, it feels like forever!”
“This must be what they call ‘time drags on like a year,’ huh?”
If Eypar had been there, she’d probably roll her eyes at these two lolis for their silly chatter.
Talking to oneself while pretending to be in a dialogue—anyone unfamiliar would surely think they were bonkers.
But now, in this rare moment where it was just Night Star and Night Lan with no one around to interrupt, it truly felt special.
They rolled onto the bed, the atmosphere growing serene.
“Speaking of… the Administrator seems like a pitiable soul.”
The image of the Purple-haired Administrator popped into Night Lan’s mind.
Her immortal star led her through oodles of unfortunate events.
While Night Lan didn’t know the full story, she could only imagine the sad tales hidden underneath.
Is immortality really all that great?
That’s been a conflicting issue forever.
But for the Administrator, it must be the worst curse imaginable.
If this star really bestows the host with immortality, it’s like surpassing even the Sunlight itself.
Night Lan felt it could rival her wish machine.
But when it came to functionality, that wish machine certainly wouldn’t lose!
“Could it be the Administrator doesn’t want that immortal star anymore?”
Night Lan pondered the possibility.
It felt likely that witnessing so much over an eternity could wear anyone down—even a normal person would be sick of living after so long.
Maybe the Administrator would want to use her wish quota to get rid of that immortality effect.
But then she felt a twinge of doubt.
Can the wish machine really erase an immortal star?
It’s not that she lacked confidence; it was just a tad dubious.
Mainly, she feared she might flub it.
Directly granting wishes is one thing, but getting up and doing the wish-making might lead to… well, she had no clue!
Just dealing with Lianhua’s Doll City incident and Kong Yu Bai’s disappearance had already given her a headache.
Who knows what mess would come up next?
Of course, that’s assuming the Administrator even wishes for it.
“Whatever, time to shower.”
After mulling it over, Night Lan decided to toss those jumbled thoughts aside.
Next up was all about enjoying a nice bath and hitting the hay with Night Star.
With so long since they’d cuddled, it felt like a drought finally giving way to rain—tonight, they had to make up for lost time!
First, they’d shower together and do some embarrassing things.
Then, they’d sleep together and do even more embarrassing things.
That was their plan, roughly speaking.
Heh, just kidding!
Or maybe not? When emotions hit, who can stop that, right?
Ehe~
So, Night Star and Night Lan spent a delightful night in the Fish Playing House, enjoying perfect sleep that banished all their fatigue.
The next morning.
Night Star and Night Lan rose early, washed up, and prepared to head out.
But Night Star was off to the theater while Night Lan was bound for the Night Watcher Base.
Just like always, everything seemed to change and yet nothing really had.
“Hmm~ We’ll cuddle again tonight!”
Separated by distances?
Not a chance!
Only Night Star and Night Lan’s constant cuddling could keep Night Lan’s action principles intact.
In the blink of an eye, Night Star was back inside the theater.
As soon as she stepped in, a ghost floated over, eyes filled with bitter resentment.
“N-n-night Star… you actually left Eypar behind! I could’ve been your pillow, boohoo!”
To which Night Star muttered, “Why pick you, a goofy ghost, when I could have a better pillow? You just can’t compare to Night Lan’s comfort level.”
“Waaah… I know I can’t beat Night Lan, but why does it still feel so unfair…”
Eypar’s little curl bobbed up and down, clearly not taking the loss well.
At that moment, Night Star spoke up.
“Alright, quit obsessing over that nonsense. Aren’t you off to explore a new city? Let’s go have some fun!”
“Yay!”
Eypar quickly shook off her little grumpiness.
