Chapter 54: What’s Outside?
On a bustling street in Qi Yuan City.
A silver-haired loli was sauntering down the road with a ghost girl that only ordinary folks couldn’t see.
They were none other than Night Star and Eypar.
Eypar was curiously soaking in the sights, practically itching to leave Night Star’s side and go wild.
“Night Star, Night Star! What fun things are here? Can you take me?”
“Well, there’s plenty of fun stuff to do, but I bet a lot of it is off-limits to you since, you know, you lack a physical form?” Night Star replied softly.
This city is known for its various entertainment districts.
In the gaming section, personal accounts are required—Eypar doesn’t even have a body, let alone a game account.
And when it comes to the food zone, Eypar can’t eat anything, so forget about that too.
So the only experiences this little ghost could enjoy would be movies, music, and the Calligraphy and Painting Entertainment District, and even then, she’d need Night Star’s help.
“Hmm~ Actually, Eypar has long prepared for the fact that I might not get to play. Most of my past explorations have just been watching others play or enjoying the show—I’m totally fine with that.”
“Hmm…”
Night Star pondered for a moment.
“If it’s about munching popcorn and enjoying the spectacle, then you can visit those places—just don’t get spotted by any strange people.”
“Uh-huh~ Actually, I can play on my own and come back to find you later!”
“But I don’t have a fixed place to stay in this city—my only hangout is the theater, and you can’t even go in alone. I’d have to hunt you down again, and that just sounds like a hassle!”
“Hmm, good point.”
Both Night Star and Eypar fell into deep thought.
Suddenly, Night Star had a bright idea.
“Hey, how about I take you to a certain place, and when you’re done playing, you can wait for me there? I usually go there every night, and then we can just head back to the theater!”
“What place is it?” Eypar was suddenly intrigued.
“Eh~ You’ll find out when we get there!”
With that, Night Star led Eypar off to the Calligraphy and Painting Entertainment District.
A little later, they arrived in front of the district’s largest library.
Eypar gazed in wonder at the enormous structure, tilting her head as her little tuft of hair took on a question mark shape.
“So, this is where you come every night?”
“Yep! I’ve recently developed a liking for reading at night, so I pop in here every day.”
“Hmm, this seems suspicious!”
Eypar’s ghostly instincts tingled; something felt off.
Just then, they walked into the library.
Once inside, Eypar’s interest piqued as she began to look around, curiously taking everything in.
She noticed it was eerily quiet; despite the massive space, it was devoid of people, which was strangely similar to the dimly lit theater.
But upon closer inspection, she spotted a purple-haired woman sitting at the front desk, engrossed in a book—apparently the administrator of the place.
Just as Eypar began to wonder, Night Star approached the desk.
“Hello, Administrator Sister, I’m back!”
Previously Night Lan had visited the administrator; now it was Night Star, but essentially they were the same person.
The administrator lifted her gaze to the silver-haired loli and gently asked, “Has the other you gone back?”
“Uh-huh~ She left yesterday.”
“Good, good.”
Then the administrator’s eyes shifted to the ghostly figure behind Night Star.
And Eypar, curious about the administrator, suddenly gasped when she noticed the administrator was staring right at her.
“Eep!”
Eypar’s tuft shot straight up, the ghostly equivalent of a hair-raising moment.
“You can actually see me?!”
The administrator diverted her gaze back to Night Star.
“Audience Performer, who is this?”
“Um, she’s my friend, named Eypar. As you can see, she’s a ghost Eclipse.”
“What a peculiar friend you have.”
“Well, she’s just a bothersome ghost.”
Night Star lightly jabbed back, then asked, “By the way, Administrator Sister, it’s impressive that you can see Eypar. Most Night Watchers can’t.”
“That probably has to do with my psychic ability—having lived for several hundred years, my mental power is probably stronger than Sunlight’s by now.”
Stronger than Sunlight?
The highest known psychic level is A; what’s next? S rank? Or how about an “Out of This World” level?
“Wow, that’s amazing!”
“But it’s useless. No matter how strong my psychic power, I can’t use it for anything, and if someone catches me, they’ll just chop me into pieces.”
Having said that, the administrator changed the topic. “Getting back to business, you must have come to see me for a reason?”
Upon hearing this, Night Star recalled her purpose for coming.
“Well, you see, Eypar just arrived from another city and is super curious about Qi Yuan City. She wants to explore on her own, but I can’t accompany her in ghost mode, so I thought she could wait for me here when she’s done playing. I usually swing by at night to pick her up—how does that sound?”
“That’s a piece of cake; just don’t cause a ruckus, and it’ll be fine.”
“Awesome!”
Night Star turned to find Eypar deep in thought.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Eypar’s wondering if there’s something going on between you and this big sister.”
“It’s a normal friend relationship.”
“Really?” Eypar squinted suspiciously.
She recalled what Night Lan had said about Night Star going to the movies with a “friend,” and suddenly this got a lot more suspicious.
“Don’t mind the details! Just remember, while you’re in here, you absolutely cannot mess around and disturb her, got it?”
Knowing Eypar’s penchant for mischief, Night Star felt the need to emphasize this.
Eypar obediently nodded.
“Understood! Eypar promises to behave!”
“Well then.”
Soon, Eypar floated out.
She made a mental note of her surroundings, planning to return when night fell.
Putting the strange woman on the back burner, she decided to explore the new city and satisfy her bubbling curiosity first.
Once Eypar left, Night Star let out a soft sigh.
Here’s hoping this ghost doesn’t bite off more than she can chew. If she gets caught by a Night Watcher, Night Star would have to plead with Ice Lixie to bail her out.
Shoving those thoughts aside, Night Star resumed her chat with the administrator.
“Um… Administrator Sister, have you thought about what wish you want to make?”
The administrator gently shook her head.
“Not yet.”
“Honestly, whatever wish you make, I’ll do my best to fulfill it, so don’t worry! Just say it boldly!”
Night Star felt the administrator’s wish must be related to her immortality.
Even though it’s unclear if the Wish Machine could influence that, it’s worth a shot.
“Anything at all?”
“Not at all a joke… As long as I find it reasonable, it’s good.”
“Then I’ll let you know later! Won’t keep you waiting too long.”
“Um-hmm.”
