Chapter 61: A Spectacle of Chaos
Meanwhile, over on the other side…
The Sunlight Night Watcher, Mo Qianmeng, was off and about, hustling towards the site of the previous battle to tend to the injured.
Those near-d*ath Night Watchers were quickly swept into her painting, their status frozen in time to barely keep them alive.
With no other healing Night Watchers around, leaving them to their fate would just mean waiting for the grim reaper—best to get them back to the base for some actual treatment.
“Darn those Artificial Star Eclipses…”
Mo Qianmeng was questioning her life choices at this point.
She felt utterly useless, limited to playing nursemaid instead of charging into battle, which was incredibly frustrating!
Somewhere not too far off, a massive ruckus indicated that the pesky Artificial Star Eclipse was still hunting Night Watchers or squabbling with Ice Lixie.
In her current state, she was completely unable to intervene—just here, putting in her two cents of effort to help ease the tension.
Suddenly, a wave of ominous dread washed over Mo Qianmeng—danger was closing in!
She swiftly activated her star power, sliding into her painting just in time.
Boom!
A fierce storm swept through the area, demolishing everything in its path.
Once the chaos settled down, Mo Qianmeng cautiously emerged from her sanctuary.
Surveying the grim aftermath, she wore a look of dread on her face.
Thank goodness she was quick on her feet; otherwise, she’d be a casualty of the wind!
At least the injured people she had rescued were unharmed; otherwise, that storm could’ve snuffed out their flickering life forces.
But what about the other Night Watchers scattered throughout the area?
Let’s just hope they’re all doing okay.
With that thought, she gazed up at the night sky, her eyes reflecting her helplessness.
Currently, she was stuck in the domain of some Artificial Star Eclipse, severely weakened, and unable to escape this chaotic labyrinth. If she couldn’t even protect herself, how could she assist Ice Lixie and the others?
If that tempestuous Artificial Star Eclipse swung by her way, she wouldn’t even have a fighting chance.
How tragically pathetic.
“If only that annoying guy were here, he might have a plan…”
Suddenly, she found herself thinking of someone obnoxious.
His personality was like sandpaper, but it’s hard to deny that he was incredibly powerful.
As a strategic Night Watcher, he certainly had a knack for controlling battle scenarios.
Lost in thought, Mo Qianmeng was jolted back to reality when a strange aura surfaced nearby, grabbing her attention.
“What is that?!”
She quickly heightened her alertness, preparing to check it out.
When she reached the spot where the aura lingered, she hid behind a corner to observe, staying utterly silent.
There, amongst the ruins, stood a petite figure with black hair under the moonlight, looking immensely mysterious.
“Is this where she was just now? The situation here seems dire; I can only imagine how the Night Watchers are faring.”
The little black-haired girl murmured to herself, her tone oddly fascinated.
Then she switched gears, sinking into deep thought.
“Strange… after entering the theater, it reverted back to this state. Did the Wish Machine grant such a bizarre wish? Well, as long as I can revert back, I can come to terms with it.”
At that moment, she suddenly glanced toward a corner.
“Come out, I’ve found you.”
Mo Qianmeng froze in her hiding spot and then stepped out from behind her cover.
Upon seeing her, the black-haired loli was momentarily taken aback, flashing an ambiguous smile.
“Ah, what a fateful encounter.”
Keeping her guard up, Mo Qianmeng scanned the girl before her and tentatively asked, “Who are you?”
“Permit me to introduce myself! I am the Announcer from the Rising Sun Theater Group, searching for a lost audience performer. Have you seen her around?”
Hearing this, Mo Qianmeng recalled that the Rising Sun Theater Group had a member called the Announcer, and indeed, this girl looked just like her.
But… why did this Announcer give her such a familiar vibe?
Her instincts as a Sunlight Night Watcher indicated that something was off here.
“I don’t know where the audience performer is. If she’s really here, it might be hard to find her anyway.”
The Announcer paused, contemplating, then asked, “By the way, who might you be?”
“I’m a Sunlight Night Watcher from Qi Yuan City, currently tasked with taking down the Artificial Star Eclipses.”
“But with that attitude, you seem a bit low on fighting spirit… you look kinda weak. Are you really a Sunlight Night Watcher?”
“Ugh!” Mo Qianmeng was immediately choked up by those words.
She felt an inexplicable rage bubbling inside, itching to throw some punches at this Announcer.
“It’s just that I’m in an abnormal state! If I were at full strength, I’d be kicking b*tt!”
“But I still think you seem pretty weak.”
“I’m NOT weak!”
Mo Qianmeng was getting fired up and pointed at the “Lv1” hovering above her head.
“Look! This is the effect of the Artificial Star Eclipse, forcibly weakening everyone in the area! I should be max level! Being brought down to level one would make anyone look weak!”
The Announcer seemed to ponder over that.
“Uh… but somehow, I feel like even if your level were maxed out, you’d still be kind of weak, you know?”
“That’s just your misconception!!”
Mo Qianmeng was on the verge of emotional collapse.
With all this pressure weighing on her, the Announcer from the Rising Sun Theater Group had to show up and toss in some snarky comments like they were just here for the show.
It was infuriating!
If she hadn’t been so severely weakened, she would’ve already trapped this little loli in her painting, letting her get thoroughly lost in it.
Then let’s see if she’d still have the guts to call her weak!
Seeing that amusing expression on Mo Qianmeng’s face, the Announcer’s grin widened.
“Hey now, don’t get all worked up! Even if your eyes seem like they want to devour me whole, I have no ill intentions toward you. We audience performers are all about harmonious coexistence with Night Watchers. As long as you don’t provoke me, I won’t harbor any hostility!”
“Who’s the one provoking who here?”
After shouting that, Mo Qianmeng quickly reigned in her emotions, refusing to let the loli before her trigger her anger.
It seemed her mental fortitude needed some serious work—this Announcer had only to say a few lines to get her riled up.
If it had been Hei Yang or Ice Lixie here, they probably wouldn’t have reacted like this.
Mainly because Mo Qianmeng found the Announcer eerily reminiscent of someone from her memories.
The vibe was too strikingly similar…
Seeing Mo Qianmeng gradually calming down, the Announcer decided to stop toying with her.
“Can you tell me what’s going on right now?”
“This area has been engulfed by the area of Star Eclipses, causing all Night Watchers to revert to their initial levels and suffer from comprehensive weakening. Plus, new labyrinth rules have kicked in. We’ve lost our sense of direction, and navigating has become confusing and chaotic—we can’t find the exit at all.”
“Oh, I see. I think I’m starting to grasp the situation.” The Announcer nodded thoughtfully, already having a full understanding of things.
Maze?
In her “Star Map,” it hardly mattered.
