### Chapter 287: Five Buck Feast
A month flew by like a blink of an eye.
During this month, Xia Yu and Xia Ling were forced to complete their tasks every day, which opened up their flexibility to extremes. Today, Jiang Kekai decided to give Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang a break and took them to check out the new cheap yet satisfying restaurant she had planned. Before this, Xia Yu had entrusted all these arrangements to her dear Xiao Ning Jiejie (Sister Little Ning), but Jiang Kekai kept it a secret, telling them they would just have to wait and see.
Not only Xia Yu, but Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang were also clueless about what Jiang Kekai had done to Xia Yu’s restaurant, so they were quite excited for the surprise.
They got off at the familiar Jingnan Road intersection, and naturally, Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang began guessing the whereabouts of this restaurant, thinking it must be in a prime location. But they knew that those prime spots came with a hefty price tag.
Jiang Kekai caught on to their wild thoughts and smirked, saying, “You’re wondering if I’d open a restaurant in such a fancy neighborhood. Do you think those old folks would dare to come here?”
The three cute little girls pondered for a moment before shaking their heads in unison, “No.”
Xia Yu couldn’t wait any longer: “So, Xiao Ning Jiejie, where is this restaurant? Just tell us already!”
“Alright, alright.” Jiang Kekai couldn’t handle this cutesy girl, turned around, and pointed towards a direction, “It’s not far from here. Even though there are lots of people passing by, this spot will do just fine for our purposes.”
With that, Jiang Kekai led the way…
When Jiang Kekai was setting up the restaurant, she often discussed ideas with Xia Yu late at night. Xia Yu suggested it not be too luxurious or too large—just plain and simple, something older folks would feel comfortable using.
Indeed, Xia Yu didn’t aim for money; she wanted to help those in need. Therefore, no need to go overboard with decorations as long as it was cozy enough.
Whatever Xia Yu said, Jiang Kekai did.
When Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang finally arrived at the restaurant, they were astonished. This simple decoration didn’t seem like Jiang Kekai’s usual style. And it looked like the place had just opened but wasn’t celebrating, which was odd.
Regardless of Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang’s thoughts, Jiang Kekai was genuinely excited to show Xia Yu her efforts, “What do you think, Xia Yu? Do you like your restaurant?”
Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang suddenly understood that this restaurant was exactly according to Xia Yu’s wishes. They looked at Xia Yu, expecting her reaction to this unremarkable place, but got only one word in response, “Like.”
“Glad you like it.” Jiang Kekai then patted Xia Yu’s head playfully and grabbed her hand, pulling her inside, “Since we’re here, let’s eat. Don’t hold back, this is Xia Yu’s restaurant!”
Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhan could only awkwardly smile, knowing they weren’t the type to refuse a free meal.
Before Xia Yu arrived, Jiang Kekai had been hands-on with managing the restaurant, so everyone there knew her, and they weren’t worried about bankruptcy either.
Seeing one of the employees about to greet her, Jiang Kekai stopped him and said, “Hold on. She is your boss now. Understand?”
The employee immediately reacted, “Y-yes! Welcome, Boss!”
This was the first time someone called Xia Yu “boss,” and she felt a bit bewildered. Fortunately, Jiang Kekai reassured her, “Xia Yu, once you decide to step up, you’ve got to get used to this. Many will call you boss.”
Xia Yu nodded earnestly.
After patting Xia Yu’s head adoringly, Jiang Kekai focused on the employee again, “It’s almost lunchtime. Have you prepared those quick meals?”
“Sure thing.”
Following the guide, Jiang Kekai brought the group to the kitchen. Although the outside environment wasn’t great, Jiang Kekai was strict about hygiene in Xia Yu’s matters. Thus, the kitchen equipment was state-of-the-art, and Jiang Kekai was stern about keeping things clean to preserve Xia Yu’s reputation.
On the stainless steel tables in the kitchen were numerous containers filled with delicious dishes, ready to be served momentarily.
Jiang Kekai knew these kitchens well after multiple visits, so she confidently retrieved some large containers from the sanitization cabinet and handed them to the girls.
“You can use these bowls. Whatever and however much you want to eat as long as you don’t waste anything. Got it?” she added.
“Got it.”
Upon receiving the stainless steel bowls, Jiang Hanhang pulled Xia Ling toward the food, confident they could handle whatever was served.
In reality, not only Chen Xue and the other girls could enjoy this set-up, when these dishes and rice were moved outside, guests could freely add more food and drink without restriction, except for taking them away. A five-buck meal.
Indeed, after discussing with Xia Yu many times, Jiang Kekai settled on this number. Too cheap, and they would lose money, so five bucks was their bottom line. For those lacking even the five bucks, the staff would invite them in personally while discreetly monitoring them. If truly in need, they would offer help.
But if they were fakes trying to scam a free meal… Jiang Kekai didn’t mind seizing their assets, ensuring they wouldn’t have the means to eat elsewhere.
