Chapter 292

### Chapter 291: The Chicken Leg Fiasco

Though she wanted to punch someone, she was still holding a plate of chicken legs. If she really got physical, all these yummy chicken legs would go to waste. So, Xia Ling decided to move aside and let Jiang Kekang come down on Jiang Hanhang once and for all.

But Jiang Hanhan was no dummy either. She followed and made herself the target: “Sis, hit me! Hit me! Hit me!”

One has to admit that Jiang Hanhan was indeed playing with fire right now. She seemed to be itching for someone to teach her a lesson, and Jiang Kekang appeared to be the lucky candidate.

Jiang Kekang obliged and approached Xia Ling, grabbing Jiang Hanhan who couldn’t dodge in time.

Hanhan became a bit spooked and looked at Xia Ling pitifully: “Little Ling, save me! We can team up!”

Xia Ling simply ignored her, grabbed the tray of chicken legs, and left. She added with a sardonic remark just before she went, “Maybe start by lying down first.” “Sis~”

Seeing Xia Ling wasn’t going to help, Hanhan looked at her sister sheepishly: “I know I was wrong. Can you, uh, be a little gentler when hitting me?”

“Guess you’ll find out.”

Hanhan couldn’t believe it; even her own sister wasn’t standing by her side. She mustered up her courage and tried again: “I’ll be more careful next time, okay? Please remember, I only have one younger sister after all.”

Jiang Kekong’s reply was dismissive. Xia Ling felt a sense of relief hearing Hanhan’s screams. After all, if this little brat didn’t get a good scolding, she’d never learn. Letting her big sis take care of her might not be such a bad thing.

In the room, Xia Yu, dressed in a pretty and comfy nightgown, was playing with her phone while lying on the bed, swinging her legs freely. Jiang Kekong thought she was finally growing up like a proper girl.

Jiang Kekong heard Xia Ling enter and asked, “What’s up?” Xia Yu found it comfortable being called “sister,” which put her in a better mood. “I brought you some midnight snacks. First, let’s eat, then we can grab more from Hanhan and the big bad guy later.”

With that, Xia Ling set up the folding table, placed the chicken legs in front of them, and started eating. They were delicious indeed.

Starving Xia Yu hopped off the bed and joined her sister in scarfing down the chicken legs: “So Little Ning and Hanhan are fighting behind our backs?”

“That’s right, they’re at it right now. We don’t need to bother, just eat as much as you can.”

“…”

At that moment, Jiang Kekong gave Jiang Hanhan a sound beating and headed back to the room with her.

Jiang Hanhan, despite being beaten up, quickly snapped out of it, still grinning foolishly: “Sis, can I ask you something?”

“Sure, what?”

“Well, how did you manage to keep Xia Yu in line? Teach me too so I can bully Little Ling.”

Jiang Kekong gave her a blank look, “You already asked. You don’t have a chance.”

Hanhan pouted, “Is this how you treat your little sister? You’re gonna let her suffer and won’t even teach me a thing?”

Jiang Kekong rolled her eyes, “These tricks are unteachable. Face it, you’re just like Xia Yu—enjoy the easy ride if you want. Life’s better when you lie down.”

“Sissy~” Jiang Hanhan’s face turned red.

Hanhan’s complaints continued as she gnawed on a chicken leg outside, “My big sis is too mean! What kind of big sis does that?”

“Don’t tell me you haven’t had enough yet?”

“I didn’t cry out because I was hit!”

“You sure about that?”

Hanhan stubbornly claimed, “It was my sis who fell.”

“Right, sure.”

Hanhan then started boasting, trying to make her earlier antics sound plausible.

As they walked, Xia Ling felt another wave of hunger hitting her and snatched two chicken legs from Hanhan, “Let me share.”

“No fair! Give those back!”

Xia Ling felt bad seeing Hanhan’s crestfallen expression and handed one back, “Come on, it’s just a chicken leg. Let’s hurry and head back before there’s nothing left.”

Hanhan found her argument valid. She figured there’d still be leftovers from Xia Lin and Jiang Kekong. Sure enough, upon their return, there were still three chicken legs left. Jiang Kekong wasn’t heartless; she wouldn’t deprive her own sister entirely.

Jiang Kekong gave Jiang Hanhan a black line for immediately grabbing the chicken legs: “So ravenous? Xiao Yu and Xiao Ling barely ate anything, and you—”

Hanhan shrugged off her concern, “Of course, stolen goods taste better. I’m growing, so leave me alone.”

Jiang Kekong just nodded, “Eat away.”

While Xia Ling quietly pocketed the last two legs, Jiang Hanhan kept ranting, “Strange how these chicken legs taste even better now. If I hadn’t gone for the milk tea, there’d be nothing left!”

Back in the room, Xia Yu smirked expecting Xia Ling’s misdeeds to be discovered. Soon, Jiang Hanhan finished her chicken legs and complained to Xia Ling, “You’re so mean, stealing my food!”

Xia Ling grinned, “Like you never take mine.”

Hanhan lunged toward her, and Jiang Kekong interrupted: “Hey, be careful. Mess the carpet and you’re cleaning it up.”

Jiang Kekong’s one-liner sobered Jiang Hanhan up as she declared, “We’ll settle this later!”

Xia Ling took another bite, annoying Jiang Hanhan further.
