Chapter 295: Prophet, Come Out!
“Hmph, naughty Little Ling.”
After grumbling, Jiang Hanhan now had no intention of sleeping and obediently got up to follow Xia Ling for their morning routine, looking like a wronged little wife. Watching these two dim-witted lolis, Jiang Kekai indulgently laughed and patted Xia Yu’s small head: “Cold? Want me to go find you a hat?”
Xia Yu shook her head, declining the offer.
Xia Yu not uttering a word made Jiang Kekai feel weirdly uncomfortable. If Xia Yu had said something earlier, it could have helped, but why did she always keep things inside? Despite this, Jiang Kekai, considering Xia Yu as her “Little Cutie,” maintained her affection. She believed that one day Xia Yu would return to normal. Thus, Jiang Kekai draped her arm over Xia Yu’s small shoulders and accompanied her back to the living room to wait for the two dim-witted lolis to handle their business.
Although not sitting on the same sofa as Xia Le, he kept glancing in Xia Yu’s direction, his mind presumably occupied with thoughts.
Finally, he seemed to make an important decision and stood up, approaching Xia Yu: “Little sister, can we go to my room for a bit? I have something I need to talk about.” “Alright.”
Xia Yu thought nothing of her older brother’s request and was ready to get up and accompany him back to the room, curious about what he wanted.
However, before Xia Yu could even fully stand, Jiang Kekai pushed her back down and coldly remarked to Xia Le: “We can just talk here. No need to go to the room.”
In Jiang Kekai’s eyes, Xia Le was already part of Lin Jie’s faction. Now, if Xia Le wanted Xia Yu to go to his room, she knew it couldn’t be anything good for either her or Xia Yu.
Especially given Xia Yu’s unstable mood, she was not about to let Xia Yu out of her sight.
Jiang Kekai’s stance was clear, but Xia Le was being somewhat unreasonable, mustering the courage to defy her: “This is between me and my younger sister. You can’t boss us around too much, right?”
“But I’m going to marry Xia Yu, and our parents have agreed. In other words, Xia Yu is mine now. Don’t I have a say in whether you take her away?”
Somehow, Jiang Kekai managed to be shameless.
Though annoyed by Jiang Kekai’s words, Xia Le had to acknowledge that it was true—her father Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan really did approve of Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai being together. It was no secret in this family anymore.
Knowing she couldn’t win against the genius young lady, Xia Le turned to Xia Yu, hoping she’d make a choice:
“Xia Yu, who are you listening to? Me or her?”
Xia Yu glanced at Jiang Kekai and then at her big brother. One was her very caring person, and the other was family. This dilemma was tough. Then she quickly recalled their past, remembering… she seemed happier when staying close to Little Ning Sister. Although Little Ning Sister was busy, she never once ignored her.
Regarding her brother, he had plenty of brothers already, and adding Xia Yu didn’t seem necessary. Thus Xia Yu felt more comfortable with Little Ning Sister. “Big bro, let’s just talk about it here.”
Xia Yu timidly looked at her brother, worrying that if she went with him, he might get upset and hit her.
Hearing Xia Yu hadn’t chosen him, Xia Le couldn’t help but feel disappointed. After all, they had been living together for years.
Seeing Xia Yu wanted to stay and talk, Xia Le hesitated then said, “Lin Jie probably remembers, doesn’t he? Help me with this?”
“If you want Xia Yu to assist in those experiments, forget it—you don’t know the consequences, and neither does Lin Jie.”
Jiang Kekai’s words made Xia Le’s face darker. “Doesn’t Xia Yu have a say in this?”
But “I won’t allow Xia Yu to get hurt for your sake.”
“It’s just some bl**d work, right? What’s the big deal?”
“You sure it’s only that? Do you know what they’re doing with that stuff? Nothing comes for free; why do you think they care so much about Xia Yu?”
Jiang Kekai was sharp-tongued, leaving Xia Le speechless because he truly didn’t know what they were doing.
In his own way, though, he couldn’t stand seeing his brother troubled by such a small matter. So he wanted to help if possible. At that moment, Xia Hanhan and Xia Ling emerged after washing and brushing their teeth.
Jiang Kekai didn’t want to argue further, deciding to lead Xia Yu straight to Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhan’s room.
Xia Yu obediently followed, surprised her big brother wanted this of her and didn’t dare refuse. Besides, she was super afraid of needles anyway.
Ding—
Door opens, door shuts.
Coincidentally, Xia Yu and Jiang Hanhan found themselves changing clothes together. They couldn’t exactly go out in their pajamas for breakfast!
To Xia Yu’s embarrassment, upon seeing the scenario, she blushed, feeling shy and avoiding eye contact, worried the girls might think her perverted.
Jiang Kekai squeezed Xia Yu’s adorable little ear, smiling helplessly. Why did this girl still not realize she’s one of the girls? They all have the same stuff, right?
True, during their visit to Demon City, Xia Yu saw them all n*ked before. But Xia Yu couldn’t accept seeing them again.
Once everyone was dressed warmly, the girls headed out for breakfast, leaving Xia Le home to guard. Though Peng City wasn’t as snowy as Demon City, its winter winds were equally chilling for sure.
At the community entrance, Jiang Family bodyguards hung out together, roasting, chatting, and gaming leisurely. Their captain was in there too. Seeing the ladies leave, they reluctantly shut off the heating devices and readied to accompany them.
This time, however, Jiang Kekai stopped them: “No need, continue with your fun. We’re just going nearby for a snack.”
“That’s not safe! Better to come along just in case,” Cheng said, sticking to protocol.
Thinking it over, Jiang Kekai conceded: “Fine, but dress warmly.”
“Yes!”
The bodyguards chuckled. They weren’t susceptible to illness like Xia Yu. But pleased by the Miss’s concern, they were happy for her.
So Jiang Kekai led the group off again, with the bodyguards trailing covertly.
On the way, Jiang Kekai asked a silly question: “It’s cold, is there any food to warm you up?”
Hot pot!” replied Hanhan instantly. “It’s freezing. How about hot pot?”
“No problem, you game?” Xia Ling chimed in enthusiastically.
Then Jiang Kekai looked at Xia Yu: “Xia Yu, do you want hot pot?”
Xia Yu nodded, choosing not to speak. But Jiang Kekai understood her nod.
“Let’s go for hot pot then,” Jiang Kekai said. Everyone smiled joyfully. Breakfast and hot pot!
For hot pot, they couldn’t go just anywhere. Who knows if the place was clean and didn’t reuse broth. Jiang Kekai dialed a familiar number, summoning a black luxury car.
Chauffeur Zhao Wei appeared, expertly aiding the ladies out: “Good morning, ladies. Where to this fine morning?”
Ignoring the playful comment, they responded, “To Cloud Sky Restaurant for hot pot. Want to join us?”
“Save it, Miss. I’m budget-conscious, remember?” Zhao Wei buckled up and started the car, driving them off.
“No worries, let Hanhan foot the bill, treating the crew afterward. Cold weather calls for hot pot. Just a few grand.”
Right, a few grand was peanuts for rich Hanhan. Plus, it’s family property, so no cost required besides ingredients.
Hanhan waved off the money issue, “Okay. Zhang Wei, spread the word. We’ll just eat. Leave the payment to me.”
Pleased, Zhao Wei relayed the message to the undercover bodyguards, ensuring they’d watch as the ladies enjoyed hot pot.
Everyone was thrilled to enjoy a warm meal together, secure and cozy.
