### Chapter 296: Chestnut Phone
Upon entering Cloudy Sky Restaurant, with the glass doors keeping out the biting cold winds, Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai and the other girls felt much better. Finally, the cold wasn’t as unbearable anymore.
Behind them, Zhao Wei and the other bodyguards followed closely. Since they were supposed to be undercover, they pretended not to know Jiang Kekai, waiting until she and her friends were seated before taking their own seats nearby.
Unfortunately, there weren’t enough of them to fully encircle the group, so they settled on blocking the front and both sides, otherwise it would just waste space.
After some deliberation, the bodyguards decided this was the best arrangement. It wouldn’t hinder the group, and they weren’t too far away. The group started hotpot, which hit the spot perfectly on such a chilly day.
Jiang Kekai, an expert at hotpot, relied on her instincts to judge cooking times for various meats before dipping them in condiments and placing them in Xia Yu’s bowl.
As Xia Yu looked at the meat in the bowl, she couldn’t help but recall yesterday’s events. Was she overthinking things?
This thought made Xia Yu feel down, her face pouting slightly. “Sister Xiaoyu, I have hands. Actually, I can pick them up myself.” Hearing this, not only Jiang Kekai, but even Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling paused with their chopsticks mid-air.
The bodyguards eavesdropping beside them became even more curious about what transpired between Xia Yu and the young lady, wondering why Xia Yu wasn’t enjoying her privileges.
They couldn’t enter yesterday’s gathering, leaving them entirely clueless about the situation. Naturally, they were all extremely intrigued.
For bodyguards, having fun in such a manner was quite normal.
Returning to reality, Jiang Kekai didn’t scold Xia Yu but instead gently patted her head and then picked up another slice of meat to put in Xia Yu’s bowl. “I’ll pick it for you. Just eat it.”
Seeing the scene, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang wisely kept quiet, choosing instead to mind their own business. They weren’t going to stir things between Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai.
Xia Yu looked at the delicious slices of meat in her bowl. After some hesitation, she ultimately obliged nicely.
Then, Jiang Kekai added another slice: “Don’t worry too much about others’ opinions. All of this, I do willingly. Just eat it happily, okay?”
“Um.”
Though Xia Yu answered, Jiang Kekai felt that the dumb girl clearly wasn’t getting it and was just appeasing her. But Jiang Kekai didn’t press further; after all, time heals all wounds, and she was confident that Xia Yu would eventually understand.
Once the meat ran low, Jiang Kekai glanced at her sister. Jiang Hanhang understood immediately: “I’ll go get more. Just stop looking at me like that, my heart can’t take it.” Saying that, she instinctively grabbed Xia Ling to come along, but Xia Ling refused: “You go first. I’ll join you shortly.”
“Then hurry.”
Jiang Hanhang didn’t give it much thought and headed towards the kitchen. This place was part of the Jiang family’s property after all.
As soon as Jiang Hanhang left, Xia Ling smirked mischievously. “Little sis, did Hanhang bully you yesterday? Let me take revenge.”
She then started adding random, questionable condiments to Jiang Hanhang’s dipping sauce, though they were all technically condiments. Xia Yu, however, suspected the black, gloopy sauce might cause digestive issues.
Having done that, Xia Ling happily went to help Jiang Hanhang with the meat, eagerly anticipating how Jiang Kekai would react.
But as soon as Xia Ling left, Jiang Kekai poured out half of Jiang Hanhang’s sauce and made a new one. Seeing Xia Ling pull such a prank, Jiang Kekai couldn’t ignore it. No matter what, health was paramount.
Besides, Jiang Kekai knew her sister pretty well. She might just use this sauce to eat hotpot to make Xia Yu happy. Such a move could easily backfire, and Jiang Kekai certainly didn’t want that.
Xia Yu silently watched everything, feeling neither happy nor upset herself.
Jiang Hanhang would be upset when she and Xia Ling returned and saw the sauce, but Xia Yu lacked the nerve to mess things up. Thus, the culprit had to be Jiang Kekai, the big bad.
Unfortunately, Jiang Kekai could beat Xia Ling but wasn’t strong enough to confront the big bad, so Xia Ling had no choice but to stew quietly.
As guests slowly filled the restaurant, more people came for hotpot. After all, in such cold weather, how could one not enjoy hotpot?
“Family, it’s gotten even chillier recently. Today we’re visiting Cloud Sky Restaurant, a well-known spot in town. Did you know it’s part of the Jiang family’s assets from Demon City?”
On hearing this, Jiang Kekai and her entourage, alongside the surrounding bodyguards, naturally turned towards the source of the voice. A livestreamer was broadcasting his visit with friends at the restaurant.
At first glance, he spotted a table right next to Jiang Kekai’s group, despite being marked as reserved. He confidently sat down without care.
Noticing the group’s looks, he got up to greet them. “Hi, lovely ladies! You’re just four, huh? Want to share a table with me? Everything’s on me. How about it?”
Realizing his live audience would enjoy the view, he adjusted his camera to capture the scene.
Unexpectedly, upon turning his phone around, it was snatched away swiftly by Jiang Kekai and then thrown to the ground, shattering into pieces instantly. His expensive device, worth twenty thousand yuan, was reduced to ruins.
This move left the livestreamer stunned. Not only did it crash, Jiang Kekai also stomped on it without any emotion, treating it as if it were no big deal.
“You…you owe me a new phone and the loss! And don’t tell me I’m not in the middle of a broadcast.”
The livestreamer quickly panicked, and his friends circled around him, asking:
“What happened?”
“My phone is broken!” Emboldened by his friends’ support, he continued confronting Jiang Kekai: “Are you crazy? Why break my phone?”
Initially, Jiang Kekai was willing to settle with money, but the live streamer’s comment infuriated her. She retorted: “Do you know who I am?” If he was wise, he would guess her identity and realize why she couldn’t show up on the feed—she wanted to avoid exposure and possible danger.
However, these people recognized Jiang Kekai’s connection to the Jiang family, though they didn’t know who exactly she was. Given Jiang Kekai had been missing from public life for some time, this was understandable.
Ignoring that, the livestreamer proclaimed: “It doesn’t matter who you are. Since you broke my phone, you must pay. I won’t repair it—my phone cost forty thousand yuan. Figure it out yourself.”
Hearing that, his friends chimed in, affirming the cost. It was true; Jiang Kekai noted these new-model chestnut phones were pricey, even after the price drop from forty-eight hundred to two thousand.
Now, she was set on teaching them a lesson.
Facing the provocative words, Jiang Kekai remained calm. Turning to Xia Yu and the two playful young ladies, she asked, “Have you eaten enough?”
“Yes,” they replied in unison.
Jiang Kekai nodded, acknowledging it was time to go. She shot a signal to the watching bodyguards, who then stood up, putting down their bowls and surrounding Jiang Kekai’s table, trapping the livestreamer and his friends.
Seeing such massive men close in, the livestreamer and his companions grew anxious. Was today a bad day?
Jiang Kekai ignored their fears. Grabbing Xia Yu’s hand, she led her away. Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling followed suit.
“Wait…”
The livestreamer tried to chase after them, but the bodyguards blocked all exits.
“What do you plan? Trying to fight? Then fight me!”
As Jiang Kekai moved away, the livestreamer grew desperate, trying anything to escape.
Just then, Jiang Kekai called out, “Since he wants it so much, let him take it. Aim for his face; I’ll cover the medical bills.” The bodyguards were relieved; finally, they could teach this guy a lesson.
Moments later, screams of pain were heard through the restaurant.
With the main group gone, the door was locked almost immediately, preventing any news leaks. They had to threaten and coax everyone to silence and then have them sign nondisclosure agreements.
