Chapter 308: Trouble
“So, are we having a barbecue here tomorrow night?”
“Yep.” Jiang Kekai rested her chin on Xia Yu’s shoulder and cheekily rubbed her face against the nearby Little Cutie: “So, Little Yu, do you like it?”
“Not really.” Xia Yu firmly answered, “I don’t like eating with them. I only want to eat with you, and Hanhang, and Little Ling.”
“Don’t worry, if anyone dares to bully your sister tomorrow, I’ll make sure to teach them a lesson. They’ll remember it!”
“Mm~”
Xia Yu instinctively inched closer into Jiang Kekai’s warm embrace. Beep beep beep—
Jiang Kekai opened her phone again, and it was another message from Xia Ling about the barbecue plans for tomorrow.
Xia Ling: “I talked to them, and they said no drinks, so no drinks it is. We’re starting at 7 PM with a total of 41 people joining—looks like we’ll have a full house.” Jiang Kekai: “Got it, I’ll handle the rest. You and Hanhang remember to sleep early; I heard all that noise.”
Xia Ling looked at Jiang Hanhang, who was whining under her, and smiled helplessly: “I got it; you don’t need to worry about me and Hanhang; just take care of my little sister.”
Message conversation over, Xia Ling tossed her phone aside and pressed down on Jiang Hanhang’s arms with a mischievous grin: “Ready to admit defeat? Still feeling rebellious?”
“Ugh—” Jiang Hanhang, used to this treatment, decided to keep talking back: “Is that all you’ve got? If you have the guts, come at me! Looks like you don’t have it in you.”
Xia Ling: “….Will you d*e if you don’t act up?”
Jiang Hanhang: “If you dare, then eat me! If you don’t, let go of this young lady, and let’s settle it!”
Xia Ling: “….”
Meanwhile, Jiang Kekai listened to the ruckus on the other side, chuckling to herself. Finally, her mischievous little sister had met her match.
Well, at least she wouldn’t bug her now.
So, Jiang Kekai opened a movie on her phone and cuddled up with Xia Yu to watch, since it was still early for sleep anyway.
The next day, thanks to sleeping on time last night, both Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu were in high spirits.
Compared to them, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang seemed out of it—who knows how long those two stayed up last night! “Sis, what are the plans for today? Please don’t tell me we’re just staying in the villa? That’s so boring!”
Jiang Hanhang yawned as she asked Jiang Kekai, a bit sleepy but not willing to let her playful heart be dimmed.
“Last time we came, there was no time; now that we have time, how about we go for a drive?”
“Bad idea!” Jiang Hanhang was quick to crack, “It’s freezing out! Have you lost your mind or what? Plus, the car with the fancy gadgets is still at the Jiang family place; how are you gonna drive it?”
Jiang Kekai nodded; she couldn’t argue with that logic. She turned to her clever and playful little sister: “So, what do you want to do?”
“Sleep!”
Before Jiang Kekai could respond, Xia Ling tapped her on the head: “Quit being silly and be serious, alright?”
“Okay.” Jiang Hanhang rubbed her sore head and quickly proposed: “We could go to town! Didn’t we agree to open a budget-friendly restaurant here earlier? Since we have time, let’s do some scouting, and maybe find some tasty treats!”
Jiang Kekai thought about it and found it a reasonable idea: “Alright, let’s set off in a bit. Everyone go put on some warmer clothes.”
With that, Jiang Kekai pulled Xia Yu back to her room. After all, they were heading outside; she couldn’t let her Little Cutie freeze!
Without delay, Jiang Kekai dug into her suitcase and tossed some clothes onto the bed: “Little Yu, you’ll wear these.”
Xia Yu looked at the pile—girl clothes that Jiang Kekai had previously worn: a wool sweater, leggings, and a big coat…
Seeing Xia Yu hesitating, Jiang Kekai understood her concern: “Don’t overthink it. We’re just getting in the car, and no one will see you dressed like this.”
With her older sister’s hopeful gaze, Xia Yu really didn’t want to reject Jiang Kekai, who was so nice to her. So, she bit her lip and eventually changed into the cute outfit.
When they gathered outside, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang saw Xia Yu’s outfit and weren’t surprised at all. Honestly, they were more shocked when she wore boy clothes.
Meanwhile, Zhao Wei had already had her breakfast, and after receiving early notice from Jiang Kekai, she warmed up the car. Living in the countryside was so cozy; she had slept soundly.
Under Zhao Wei’s guidance, the four quickly arrived in town.
Since it was chilly outside, not many people were around, so the girls didn’t want to get out of the car.
Smart little mischief-maker Jiang Hanhang said to Zhao Wei: “Drive slowly; we can just look from here.”
“Got it.”
After a few minutes of looking around, Jiang Hanhang felt sleepy again, so she used the opportunity to indulge herself, flopping into Xia Ling’s arms and wrapping up in a blanket to snooze.
Zhao Wei drove back and forth a couple of times, and noticing Jiang Kekai’s dissatisfaction with the shops, they also sensed that the owners had plans to move to the city.
Just as Jiang Kekai was ready to settle, she pointed to a sizable noodle shop ahead: “Zhao Wei, let’s stop there. We can grab a warm bowl of noodles.”
“Sure.”
What the eldest lady said went, and Zhao Wei was all in.
As they got out, Jiang Kekai looked back at her little sister, who was already snoring softly. She had no idea what to do—if she didn’t wake her, she’d throw a fit; if she did wake her, she’d still throw a fit.
So, she tossed the problem to Xia Ling, after all, Jiang Hanhang would probably belong to her in the future: “Little Ling, you wake her up. You probably have more experience with this.”
Correct—after sleeping with Jiang Hanhang for so long, Xia Ling indeed had some experience in dealing with her.
Straightforwardly, Xia Ling pinched Jiang Hanhang’s nose with one hand and covered her mouth with the other, preventing the little rascal from breathing.
Mm—
Jiang Hanhang was swiftly startled awake, and upon seeing Xia Ling messing with her, she immediately got furious: “Grrr—”
Xia Ling swiftly let go, jumping back to avoid the bite of the furious little girl. Seeing Jiang Hanhang’s disgruntled expression only made Xia Ling happier.
Is this how Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang interact? Xia Yu found it quite entertaining. She had never seen Xia Ling so happy before. “Sis, she’s bullying me!”
Having missed her chance to chomp down on Xia Ling, Jiang Hanhang could only look up at Jiang Kekai with a pitiful expression, hoping her older sister would save her.
In response, Jiang Kekai rolled her eyes: “Didn’t you want to eat? Get out and eat! You think we’re standing out here waiting for you to freeze, huh?”
“Eat! We definitely need to eat!”
Jiang Hanhang quickly grabbed the blanket and jumped out of the car: “What are we eating?”
“Noodles.”
Jiang Kekai took Xia Yu’s little hand and led her into the noodle shop, with Zhao Wei following behind. As for the two little rascals, they were still outside battling it out. Since it wasn’t a market day and the weather was cold, there were no other customers in the shop, making it perfect for discussing business.
After slurping on noodles for a while, Jiang Kekai finally called over the shop owner and his wife, providing an opportunity for Xia Yu: “Little Yu, you go ahead.”
Originally, Xia Yu was happily enjoying her noodles, but now she felt unprepared to speak up.
Since there weren’t many customers, the owner and his wife didn’t mind chatting with the adorable guests.
“It’s okay; just say what you need! Is there something wrong with the noodles?” the owner’s wife guessed, but seeing the playful girls fighting over food didn’t align with that suspicion.
Xia Yu shook her head, took a deep breath to gather her emotions, and then imitated Jiang Kekai’s tone from before: “I’m here to buy this place. You name your price.”
“Uh?”
The shop owners thought the little girl was joking; after all, children don’t have that much money.
Seeing as there were no new customers, the owner’s wife didn’t mind sticking around for a chat: “Little girl, do you know what you just said? This shop is quite expensive, you know.”
“She’s serious.”
Zhao Wei could tell that Xia Yu was being underestimated, so she stepped in to lend her adult authority.
Sure enough, after hearing Zhao Wei’s words, the shop owner and his wife exchanged glances, expressions growing more serious.
“What do you want with the shop? As you can see, it has three floors. The second and third floors are used as living quarters, so if you’re buying it, it all comes together for three million—what do you say?”
Three million! In a second-tier city, that could get you a pretty decent house. It seemed the owners were considering a shift to the city. Xia Yu had no clue if that was a reasonable price, so she looked toward Jiang Kekai for help, hoping her beloved older sister would come through.
After slurping another mouthful of noodles, Jiang Kekai casually replied: “Sure, let’s just go directly to transfer ownership and do the bank transfer.”
Then she turned to Xia Yu and Xia Ling: “I’ll have someone bring your IDs over; it’ll be like the villa, so it’s under your names. No objections, right?”
“Whatever.”
Xia Ling shrugged, viewing it as just Xia Yu’s enterprise—she was merely helping out.
Little did they know, this was actually Jiang Hanhang’s way of making things easier on herself. If she found it troublesome, then let Xia Ling do the heavy lifting!
