Chapter 312

Chapter 312: Hanhang’s Complaint

“Well, this is unexpected,” Xia Ling’s words shocked everyone. How could Xia Ling possibly be siding with Xia Yu? Wasn’t she the one who used to dislike him? Moreover, she had invited everyone here! Shouldn’t she be responsible for this situation?

While everyone was scratching their heads, Jiang Hanhang, standing next to Xia Ling, grabbed her hand and chimed in: “Didn’t you fools realize? Xia Ling is on my side now! Xia Yu is basically her… family! Do you honestly think she’s gonna help you? What dummies~”

With that exclamation, Jiang Hanhang took it upon herself to drag Xia Ling away, unable to bear the tension any longer.

Xia Ling was all too eager to escape; before long, the two of them made their way to the second floor. From a window up there, they could still get a bird’s-eye view of the drama unfolding below.

With Xia Ling leaving, the group of “clueless” individuals lost yet another ally. Their options were dwindling fast!

From her elevated position, Jiang Kekai spotted a few in the crowd sneaking glances at their phones as if desperately trying to call for help.

But Jiang Kekai was not worried at all. She had already set up a signal jammer the moment they entered, so even if they had a whole day, they wouldn’t be able to send any messages.

“Seriously?!” Another hot-headed guy couldn’t hold back anymore, boldly pointing at Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu while shouting, “Do you even know what happens next? When I get out of here, I’m going straight to the enforcement team. There’s no way they can’t handle you!”

Jiang Kekai just rolled her eyes: “Are you done ranting? It’s chilly outside, and Xia Yu and I will only wait here for three minutes. Apologize, and you can leave. Otherwise, just wait an hour, and we’ll be right back for another three minutes.”

With the stakes announced, the bodyguards sprang into action, clearing away the barbecue equipment and packing up the trash, denying the group any more chances to warm up.

So there stood Jiang Kekai, looking down on them, while they gazed back in disbelief. It was their first experience with someone this assertive. “Three minutes are up? Well, see you again in an hour!”

After that, Jiang Kekai took Xia Yu’s hand and led her back inside the villa to warm up, leaving everyone behind to brave the cold wind.

And since this villa was situated pretty close to the village, the view was vast but the wind was fierce, nothing to block it!

Tap—

As the bodyguards returned to the villa, they made sure to turn off all the lights in the yard; after all, a dark, cold atmosphere can really mess with people’s minds. Meanwhile, in the second-floor living room, Jiang Kekai had the barbecue supplies moved inside. People might need to be disciplined, but food was still essential. Noticing the decor, Lin Jie complimented, “Jiang Kekai, how much did your villa cost? I want to build one in the countryside too!” Yet Jiang Kekai just shot him a glance and opted not to respond.

Xia Le, however, chimed in: “Oh, I know! This villa started construction during the National Day celebrations, and the land cost… I think they said the total expenses would be…”

Listening to Xia Le, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but admire how the kid remembered everything so clearly.

“Just so you know, no one is allowed to build within 300 meters of here.”

“No problem.”

After grilling for an hour and a half, Jiang Kekai finally glanced at her phone: “Time flies! Xia Yu, let’s go check if they’ve conceded.” She took Xia Yu outside, flicked the lights back on, and sure enough, the group in the yard looked like they were about to freeze solid.

Seeing their piteous state, Jiang Kekai couldn’t help but smirk: “Thanks for your patience, everyone! Our countdown starts now—three minutes. Who knows when Xia Yu and I might come out again? As you figured out, we kind of lost track of time and might fall asleep soon.”

“Jiang Kekai, do you think it’s worth it to go this far for Xia Yu?”

“Mind your own business!” Jiang Kekai shot back, deciding to unleash a rare curse word: “You’ve got two minutes left; if you haven’t figured it out by then, Xia Yu and I might just extend our little chat to two hours.”

With time ticking away, a girl finally stepped forward. Gritting her teeth, she faced Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu and mumbled the three magic words: “I’m sorry.”

“Oh? Do you even know what you did wrong?”

“I shouldn’t have talked behind Xia Yu’s back before. I get it now.”

“Hmm, good attitude about admitting your mistake. You can leave now, but don’t even think about plotting revenge, got it? Or you’ll regret it.”

“Understood!”

Hearing this, a bodyguard escorted the girl to the exit while the rest kept an eye on the remaining crowd to prevent any escape attempts. Thus, under the envious gazes of the others, she smoothly exited the villa.

“Last minute! Anyone else want to step up? If not, Xia Yu and I are heading back in.” Jiang Kekai’s voice snapped them back to the grim reality—looking back, even money wouldn’t lure them to stand up! “I’ll do it.”

This time, a boy, eager to escape the freezing cold, swallowed his pride: “I’m sorry…”

One by one, as more people reluctantly stepped forward, Xia Yu was caught off guard. She tugged at Jiang Kekai’s shirt, whispering, “Sister Little Ning, can’t we just let it go? I’m fine now, aren’t I?”

Jiang Kekai ruffled Xia Yu’s hair: “No way! I promised to help you clear your mind, and after this, you can forget about these people for good.”

Soon enough, apologies enrolled like a line at a bakery, and Jiang Kekai, keeping her word, let them leave, throwing in a threat as they left—what’s a little intimidation if it saves time?

As for the remaining group of guys and girls? Jiang Kekai meant business. Without hesitation, she took Xia Yu and headed back inside the villa to continue their barbecue feast.

“What do we do now? Do we really have to apologize to that queen?”

“Not sure, but it seems like they won’t let us leave unless we do, and there’s no signal for our phones. Should we scream for help?”

“You scream?”

“Too embarrassing! You do it!”

“Get lost, you do it!”

An hour later, several boys were desperately squirming, their stomachs gurgling as they sought the restroom.

Clearly, Jiang Kekai had spiked their food with laxatives, wary that these tough nuts wouldn’t apologize. She didn’t believe they’d rather soil their pants than say sorry!

Watching Lin Jie and Xia Le dash for the bathroom, Jiang Kekai knew the time had come. Again, she took Xia Yu to see how the stubborn ones were doing.

“So, any tummy troubles? I’ll give you three more minutes to think, or you can go ahead and choose to… handle it in your pants.”

The group, clutching their bellies, peered at one another—none were willing to be the first to break the silence.

“Two minutes left.”

“One minute left.”

“Okay! You folks have got some guts. See you in two hours!”

Letting out a dramatic sigh, Jiang Kekai started to walk away, pulling Xia Yu with her.

“I apologize!”

“Me too! I apologize!”

Once someone took the plunge, it wasn’t long until others followed suit. The fear of an embarrassing accident was a powerful motivator.

If a mere apology was just shameful, then letting it happen in pants would be an absolute disgrace in the village! They were basically middle schoolers!

Hearing their reluctant confessions, Jiang Kekai’s smile widened: “Great! Then line up, one by one, and you can head home afterward. If we’d known it would come to this, things would have gone very differently, huh?”

So there stood Xia Yu, rather bewildered, as she accepted a barrage of apologies, and Jiang Kekai made sure to threaten the crowd one last time before finally letting them go.

As the final person left and the door was closed, Jiang Kekai sighed in relief and wrapped her arm around her little cutie: “What’s up, Xia Yu? Now do you feel a lot better inside? They all apologized!”

“Ah? Mmm~”

Although she knew their apologies weren’t truly heartfelt, Xia Yu felt genuinely touched that Sister Little Ning was willing to go this far for her. “Is it over now?”

Jiang Hanhang, dramatically lounging in Xia Ling’s embrace, asked, already knowing the answer when Jiang Kekai and Xia Yu returned. “Is it over? It’s getting late; everyone should hit the hay.”

Indeed, after being bombarded by Jiang Kekai for yet another hour, it was already 10:30 PM. She certainly didn’t want her little cutie Xia Yu staying up late!

Once the order was given, Jiang Kekai led Xia Yu back to their room to brush their teeth and get ready for bed.

Naturally, Jiang Hanhang didn’t want to linger in the cold living room watching TV either; it was much better to cuddle with Xia Ling under the covers, so she followed her back to the room.

Later, as they finished showering, Jiang Hanhang noticed Xia Ling still seemed downcast. She knew exactly why and immediately leaped over with a teasing grin: “Don’t worry! If they don’t want you, you still have me, right?”

Xia Ling: “…”

It’s no surprise that the playful Jiang Hanhang got a light smack on the head from Xia Ling, just to vent a few frustrations.

Reeling back, Jiang Hanhang exclaimed in mock indignation: “But you promised not to hit me anymore! You’re not keeping your word! I’m ignoring you now!”

With that, she flopped onto the bed, burying herself under the blanket and wrapping herself into a gigantic fuzzy caterpillar, hiding her head inside as she sulked alone.

At the same time, thanks to Jiang Hanhang’s antics, Xia Ling found herself blanketed in nothingness, as that was the only blanket available!
