Chapter 314

### Chapter 314: Let’s Go

Xia Yu dragged Jiang Kekai to the door, keeping her away from the stove—she knew full well the place could be dangerous. Meanwhile, Xia Yu took the pan with practiced ease, washed it thoroughly, and started scraping off the stubborn bits, then set it on the fire. He poured in some oil, added ingredients, and started flipping them around in a fluid motion. Xia Yu handled it all seamlessly.

Despite his skill, Jiang Kekai remained somewhat worried, knowing the kitchen was a treacherous place. “Don’t worry, you big bad guy! My sister has been making food since she was little. This fried rice is no big deal.”

The voice sounded quite familiar. Sure enough, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang were both present.

While Jiang Kekai had been sorting things out earlier, they had been eavesdropping and now were down here looking for something to eat. Otherwise, they’d probably still be snuggled under their warm blankets.

“You’re saying Xia Yu learned to cook when he was very young? Do you remember exactly when?” asked Jiang Kekai, genuinely interested in Xia Yu’s background.

“Yeah, seems like around six or seven. Gran and Grandpa were busy with farm work, so we just had to heat up our own food when we got home from school. Soon enough, my little sister mastered cooking, and it’s pretty good too.”

Seeing Xia Ling being so cheeky, Jiang Kekai felt increasingly excited—are Xia Yu’s cooking skills really that great? Just then, a rich aroma of stir-fried rice filled the room, making the famished girls even hungrier. “Xia Yu, how about you make us each a plate?” Jiang Hanhang suggested shamelessly.

Right, hearing Xia Ling’s words made her curious too. And besides, she was hungry.

This time, Xia Ling didn’t knock her on the head; she wanted to taste something too, and Jiang Hanhang seemed eager to indulge her. “Sure thing, we’ll wait a bit, it won’t take long.”

Xia Yu agreed happily—clearly showing he was useful, not just some useless flower vase. At first, Jiang Kekai wanted to mention this, but saw Xia Yu seemed quite happy, enjoying himself.

A few minutes later, four steaming plates of fried rice were ready. Xia Yu felt a tremendous sense of satisfaction as he said, “Alright, come and get them.”

Not missing the chance, Xia Yu and Jiang Hanhang rushed forward, grabbing the two plates with the most rice. Seeing them act so brazenly, Jiang Kekai felt a headache coming on. She thought, maybe they weren’t worth her effort.

Soon, Jiang Kekai got her share too: “Xia Yu, you’ve worked hard.”

Jiang Kekai naturally wanted to pat Xia Yu’s head, but remembering her oily hands, she let the idea go.

“How’s it? How’s it?”

Xia Yu eagerly watched the three girls who had started eating, hoping for praise. “Mmm, it’s pretty tasty, marrying you won’t be a loss, sis.”

Jiang Hanhang kept stuffing her face, jabbering nonstop, as if she’d d*e if she didn’t poke fun at someone. Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai couldn’t escape her barrage.

Even though it was criticism, Xia Yu detected praise in her words, so she felt pretty good: “Little Sister Xiao Ling, what do you think about the taste?”

Xia Ling swallowed a mouthful of rice before turning to Xia Yu with a smile. “If I say I can’t tell the difference, could you make another plate?”

Bang!

This time, Jiang Kekai bonked Xia Ling on the head for getting too bossy. Then, Jiang Kekai helped Xia Yu carry over her plate: “Xia Yu, let’s go upstairs and eat, don’t mind them.”

Xia Yu looked uncertainly at Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang, then at the increasingly distant Jiang Kekai. Finally, she decided to catch up…

“d*mn, favoritism forgotten!”

Xia Ling, rubbing her head, had hoped Xia Yu might stay put. But seeing her chase after them, she felt really hurt. “Haha, never thought you’d end up like this! Painful, huh, Xia Yu? Heartache?”

Jiang Hanhang pushed her luck again~

The bodyguards, seeing there was nothing much left to see, dispersed to attend to their own business. In their minds, Xia Yu was Jiang Kekai’s other half, so they approached with caution.

Inside the room, Xia Yu quickly finished her own plate of rice. Surprisingly, her skills hadn’t dulled; if anything, they seemed sharper than ever.

Throughout, Jiang Kekai just observed Xia Yu eat. Had Xia Yu not been insistent about not being fed, Jiang Kekai would’ve been bored out of her mind.

“Have you had enough?”

“Yes.”

But then, Xia Yu got a sudden suspicion. Could something important be about to happen? Sure enough, one second later, Jiang Kekai grabbed Xia Yu’s arm, dragging her to the bathroom for a wash down: “There’s a stench of grease on you, let me clean you.”

Xia Yu: “…”

Even though she’d faced this before, Xia Yu still felt shy, avoiding eye contact by facing the wall. Failing to do so would give her guilt.

Jiang Kekai understood this but thought it essential for Xia Yu to embrace her feminine identity quickly, hence deciding on drastic measures. “Xiao Yu~”

Suddenly, Jiang Kekai hugged a nearly steamy-hot Xia Yu from behind.

She lay Xia Yu on the bed, dressed her in fresh clothes, and finally dried her hair, making sure she was snug under the covers: “Xiao Yu, time to hibernate.”

Xia Yu tucked herself under the blanket shyly, looking adorable.

Jiang Kekai pet her affectionately, then sat at the desk, booting up her computer—she was always busy.

Happy moments fly by. Soon, it was already the thirtieth, the day Jiang Family’s two sisters and Lin Jie were leaving.

Of course, they were just visiting briefly; they needed to return home for the holidays, and their extended stay had reached its limit.

Watching the convoy recede, Xia Ling eagerly embraced Xia Yu from behind. “Haha, I guess the big bad guy is gone; now you’re mine!”

Xia Ling’s jubilant attitude made Wang Wenjuan, being a mother, unsure how to handle her. Xia Yu being female was no secret to her either, so she did not object to their closeness between sisters.

Fortunately, Xia Hong was preoccupied with preparing New Year’s stuff and couldn’t send them off. If he could, he’d likely have questions.

Xia Yu clung to Xia Hong instead, leaving Xia Le feeling sour, yet regretting the lack of time-travel medicine.

Without Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang, along with the bodyguards leaving, Xia Yu and Xia Ling had no interest in returning to their cold, enormous villa and opted for homelier settings instead.

On the couch, Xia Ling firmly held Xia Yu’s arm, not letting her move an inch.

Xia Yu sighed, “Can’t you just sit calmly? Holding onto me isn’t tiring?”

“It’s not tiring. Only now can I hold on to you for a while. Once that big bad guy returns, he’ll snatch you back.”

Xia Yu pinched Xia Ling’s soft cheek, unsure what to say next. “Fine, but don’t let dad or grandpa and grandma catch on!” “Don’t worry. We’ll keep it a secret. Plus, mom will back you.”

She glanced at a phone-obsessed Wang Wenjuan. “Right?”

Wang Wenjuan glanced at her daughters and noted there was no one else around. “Just be careful.”

Xia Ling, taking the opportunity, cheekily wrapped her arms around Xia Yu’s neck, giving her cheek another rub. “Don’t worry, it won’t be noticed. Tonight, I’ll share your bed.”

Xia Yu: “…..”

Later that night, Xia Yu and Xia Ling returned to the villa with Wang Wenjuan. Xia Ling’s bedding was packed up for the trip back home, leaving Xia Yu with a large Teddy Bear Jiang Kekai had gifted her.

Seeing this bear, Xia Ling couldn’t help but think of Jiang Kekai. But seeing Xia Yu’s fondness for it, she kept quiet.

Laying comfortably on the bed, Xia Ling’s hand twitched, noticing the absence of Jiang Hanhang’s company. Unlike Jiang Hanhang, Xia Yu was dearer; how could she bear to pinch her? Thus, Xia Ling felt conflicted, yearning for Jiang Hanhang.

Meanwhile, Jiang Kekai’s convoy returned to Demon City.

Exiting the car, Jiang Kekai confronted Lin Jie. “Lin Jie, no matter what your past feelings, stay away from Xia Yu from now on, okay?”

“Especially you, Xia Ling.”

Jiang Hanhang followed, wrapping her arms around her sister’s neck, interrupting.
