Chapter 318

Chapter 12: Witness to Glory

After taking a bath, Night Lan and Night Star dried their hair and lay down on the bed together.

“Mmmmm~”

Night Star Lan opened her eyes. She couldn’t sleep because she had an itch in her curiosity she just couldn’t scratch. Since hearing from Book Yao that the Rising Sun Theater Group existed a long time ago, she just couldn’t let it go.

In short, she wanted to know what happened to the theater group before.

If she asks the Group Leader, would he answer?

Probably, but seeing it with her own eyes would be much more comfortable.

If she can witness it with her own eyes, she’s sure it would be much more shocking than anything said by words alone.

But the problem now is how exactly can she see it for herself?

She could only return to the past when the Rising Sun Theater Group was newly created. Then she’d watch like an audience member, hoping to catch a glimpse of the theater’s glory days.

Only the Wish Machine could do this.

But here’s the problem—the Group Leader apparently said he didn’t want any interference from her powers…

That’s what Night Star Lan interpreted.

Wait, if he doesn’t want to be interfered with, couldn’t she just be a pure spectator?

For example, she could hide among the crowd as an audience, blend in, and observe everything, never revealing her identity—even if anything happens, she’ll stay out of it, letting history run its course naturally.

Then there would be no problems.

The Group Leader remains unchanged. She could still successfully witness the theater’s grand moment, all perfectly in place.

Since the Group Leader isn’t going to grant her a wish, she’ll do it herself.

Granting her own wish would still work out fine, and she wouldn’t have to worry about any unacceptable prices.

There wasn’t really anything better to do tonight anyway, so why not witness the glorious moments of her current theater group?

She soon made up her mind.

She had no intense desires, not at all; never used the Wish Machine for random wishes, but she felt a bit bored tonight. So why not use it just to pass the time?

Just like watching a movie.

Wish Machines, you might as well use them while you can. After all, returning will just be another sleep anyway, who cares?

With that thought, Night Star Lan prepared herself.

“Wish Machine, I wish to go back to the time when the Rising Sun Theater Group first came into existence, and I’ll observe everything as a bystander.”

No sooner did she speak the wish than the Wish Machine started to activate.

Ding!

Time and space instantly shifted.

Night Star Lan’s consciousness began to lose focus, and soon she fell into a deep sleep.

*

The world seemed upside down, morning came.

A strange environment.

Night Lan and Night Star opened their eyes and realized their surroundings had changed.

“Hmm, seems successful.”

It appeared the Wish Machine had transported her to a new environment.

As expected, it should be some time in the past.

Night Lan intended to check the time on her phone, but it was gone.

“Uhm, could it be that electronic devices aren’t yet invented in this era?”

Realizing this, Night Lan barely accepted it.

“Mm, let’s go outside and take a look.”

Now, Night Star Lan was in a rather simple wooden house. In the future, such constructions vanished long ago.

Yet, here she finds wooden houses—a sign of antiquity.

How far back this era is, though, Night Star Lan doesn’t know.

Book Yao mentioned that the Rising Sun Theater Group might have begun a century ago.

The likes of which distant eras, Night Star has visited indeed.

That time with Book Yao might count… Although she did not interact with that era’s social aspects, just its books.

Facing this distant age, Night Star Lan feels a little nervous.

Thinking as much, Night Star and Night Lan approached the door. Carefully, they opened it, peeking out to survey the outside.

This looked like a residential area. It didn’t seem particularly lively.

After some contemplation, Night Star Lan decided to step out.

So, Night Star and Night Lan simultaneously took a deep breath, and stepped through the door.

On the streets, Night Star Lan surveyed the sparse crowd, noting something odd.

To be precise, they weren’t Eastern-looking faces. Instead, features more akin to Westerners.

This raised a new hypothesis in her mind.

“d*mn… Could it be? Am I abroad?”

Realizing this, Night Star Lan paid closer attention to the locals’ chatter.

Then she realized—it was definitely not Chinese!

It sounded like English.

Night Star Lan was flabbergasted.

Traveling back to ancient times was one thing, but abroad, where she couldn’t understand the language—what could she possibly do?

“Ah… I never thought the Rising Sun Theater Group once worked overseas—it truly surprises me… Perhaps their domestic activities didn’t come sooner because of their work abroad? That makes perfect sense…”

Night Star Lan suddenly had no idea how to react.

Now, not only was life completely unfamiliar, even the language barrier was a challenge. Wanting to communicate, she could only rely on a few words and basic gestures.

Even though Night Star Lan was legally two post-graduated “Loli”s, her foreign language skills were practically nonexistent—dogs would wag their heads in disdain.

Her command of English was abysmal.

“Ah… Ah well, let’s find the theater group instead. No plans to mingle with society here, no need for communication, staying hidden while witnessing the glory is the goal.”

Originally wishing to see the theater’s grand glory, this shouldn’t dampen her spirit.

Without the burden of saving someone, and with a light heart, watching the event unfold would do just fine.

However, finding the theater group alone may not be simple.

Night Star Lan is new to the place, unfamiliar with how things work. Even with nearby theaters, she’d have trouble navigating.

If she were to ask passers-by, she wouldn’t know enough foreign languages to do so!

“Hmm, solving the language issue must be priority…”

As this thought crossed her mind, the Star inside her generated some fluctuations, catching Night Star Lan off guard momentarily.

Soon after, voices she previously couldn’t understand became clear—not just clearer sounds, but comprehensible meanings.

In other words, she can now understand foreign languages!

Upon realizing this, Night Star Lan quickly scanned the surroundings, looking for spots with English.

Seeing them, her eyes lit up with excitement.

“Oh, I can understand English too!”

Needless to say, the Wish Machine solved this issue seamlessly—complete service.

Perfect.

Now understanding English, Night Star Lan felt much more confident surviving in this age—even if she had to, she could probably find food.

“So, let’s start…”

With that, Night Star and Night Lan held hands and strolled cheerfully down the street.

Habitually, they kept a low profile, avoiding being too conspicuous.

If anyone around saw these exquisite little girls, they’d likely be in disbelief.

Given how delicate they look for their era, coupled with the sophisticated clothing—they could only belong to nobility.
