Chapter 32: Zzzz…
Seeing Xia Le constantly pulling Xia Yu’s attention away, Xia Ling, who had been supervising Xia Yu’s studies, was a bit annoyed. She couldn’t say much since she was younger and didn’t want to offend her older brother.
In her frustration, Xia Ling took a deep breath, collected all of Xia Yu’s holiday homework from the desk on the bed, and said cheerfully, “Why don’t you come to my room to write?”
Seeing Xia Ling’s stern face, Xia Yu dared not utter a sound and obediently followed along, believing she’d made Xia Ling angry by spacing out too much…
So, Xia Ling grabbed the homework and her pencil case first and left the room, with Xia Yu trailing behind, lugging the little desk in tow. Now, only Xia Le remained in the room.
But that was fine. Sensing their departure, Xia Le, as their older brother, said nothing and continued playing his phone.
Unexpectedly, when Xia Ling and Xia Yu reached the living room, their parents stopped them: “Xiao Yu and Xiao Ling, have you finished studying yet?”
“Not exactly, big brother is playing games in Xia Le’s room, interfering with our studies, so now I’m taking Xia Le to my room for some extra work.”
Hearing this, Wang Wenjuan felt a bit embarrassed because she was the one who had invited Xia Le to study with Xia Yu earlier, and didn’t expect Xia Le to still act like that.
“Okay, then continue your studies and don’t stay up too late. Remember to get enough rest; we’re going to visit relatives tomorrow.”
“Got it!”

Thus, Xia Ling and Xia Yu moved their study spot to Xia Ling’s room, though they still chose to lie on their beds due to the cold winter feet when sitting at desks.
Xia Ling’s princess bed was a stark contrast to Xia Yu’s, boasting an extra thick, plush mattress and a pink, girly set of bedding complete with mosquito net and sheets.
Compared to Xia Yu’s room, which was quite simple, Xia Yu didn’t mind at all since she was used to it. It seemed someone had convinced Xia Yu girls should live in pretty, fragrant rooms.
After setting up the little desk and arranging the homework, Xia Ling resumed watching over Xia Yu’s studies. This time, though, she held a teddy bear, seeing as there was no shame in using everything at hand.
Little did Xia Yu know, it was New Year’s Day, yet she found herself studying so late.
By around ten-thirty, Xia Yu was exhausted, yawning incessantly and ready to crash.
Seeing Xia Yu’s state, Xia Ling decided it was time to call it quits: “Alright, little sister, finish for today. We’ll resume tomorrow.”
With the freedom to breathe, Xia Yu collapsed onto Xia Ling’s princess bed for rest, letting Xia Ling handle the mess. While the bed desk was comfy, it did cause some back strain—she had sat there for such a long time!
However, when Xia Ling finished tidying up, she found Xia Yu had dozed off…
