Chapter 15: The Theater of Ancient Times
“What?”
Jian Ji’an stared in disbelief as the two figures disappeared.
Just as he was about to chase after them, he realized their silhouettes had already vanished among the crowd.
Stubbornly chasing after them, Jian Ji’an found himself unable to spot the tiny figures in the sea of people.
“Did they get away? They’re holding divine powers, so it makes sense for them to be extraordinary.”
Jian Ji’an resolved to bring them back to the papacy.
Divine powers shouldn’t be lost out there; if spotted, they needed to be brought back immediately.
Only problem… with their weird speed just now, catching up seemed quite difficult.
First step, find where they are before planning the next move.
If one try didn’t work, then another method would have to be used.
Cutting the scene.
Night Lan and Night Star were now in unfamiliar territory, having escaped that odd man.
“Trouble me as little as possible; I don’t want any attention,” murmured Night Star Lan softly.
With her abilities properly used, she could easily beat that Star Holder just now.
Even without summoning members of the theater group in these strange times, she’s pretty powerful herself.
Little Lian alone could dominate this area.
But she didn’t want to do that; finding members of the theater group would be a better idea.
Running away seems a lot safer when bumping into those weirdoes.
Night Star Lan started looking around, and suddenly noticed a big building.
Night Lan checked the map and realized the building matched one of the symbols on it; she knew her location now.
“Okay, next stop is to check out the local theater.”
After figuring out the route, Night Star Lan acted swiftly, marching straight toward the theater.
Time passed, and Night Star Lan finally arrived at her destination — one of the renowned theaters of the region.
Sure enough, the Rising Sun Theater Group would probably be performing there.
“Hmm… Just have to wait here and I’ll eventually run into someone from the theater group. And once I do, I can watch the show.”
Curiosity filled Night Star Lan’s heart now.
The current leader of the Rising Sun Theater Group should still be the old guy skilled in magic — wonder if a fraudster or gentleman has joined.
Puppet Masters and Singers were later additions, and those types weren’t common nowadays, so might not be seen here.
Since it’s a decent theater group, it shouldn’t only have a few members.
She figured the Rising Sun Theater Group was a legitimate organization rather than the Star Eclipses.
Being normal, the group should have ordinary team members.
Right now, Night Star Lan was intrigued by what sort of stuff the theater group had up its sleeves; a closer look wouldn’t hurt.
She gazed toward the nearby theater, not thinking it too shabby.
Although it differed significantly from those built by announcers, it carried an air of historical flair.
In these times, theaters were major entertainment spots.
The moment she thought this through, Night Star Lan decided to go in and check it out.
“What if… I go inside?”
As she pondered this notion, she started putting it into action.
Night Lan and Night Star quickly reduced their presence, preparing to walk in.
On second thought, this stealth technique only worked on regular folk, making them unnoticeable — invisible to the untrained eye.
But for Star Holders, it’s not as effective.
Night Star Lan recalled, probably due to the true nature of her Existence Interference power not being unlocked yet.
Even just a third of its strength could make someone an Extraordinary Star.
Full-on Existence Interference could hide even the stars of the Night Watchers from Sunlight, effectively erasing oneself entirely.
A third of this power should rival the Sunlight Stars, capable of more than just reducing presence.
Formerly, Night Star Lan hadn’t explored further because lowering one’s presence seemed sufficient.
Now though, danger lurked around every corner.
This wasn’t her home turf, and no Night Watcher was around, let alone fellow members from the Rising Sun Theater Group who could pop up instantly.
Hence, protecting herself became crucial.
To achieve this, she needed more power.
Divine Speed B isn’t always reliable, especially when fleeing isn’t an option.
Thinking it over, she decided to give Kong Yu Bai’s powers a shot.
“Hmm… Test out hiding my star aura?”
As Night Star Lan mulled this over, Kong Yu Bai’s power kicked in, starting to take effect.
Night Lan and Night Star sensed each other, noticing the faint star energy dissipated.
“It works!”
Night Star Lan felt relieved.
Provided she didn’t encounter that same person again or display extraordinary abilities, she remained hidden.
Next, she would blend into history under the guise of a regular citizen.
Thinking this, Night Lan and Night Star sneaked into the theater unnoticed.
Inside, Night Star Lan examined the grand interior, memorizing its layout.
Plenty of space with a sophisticated design — much grander than typical construction. Only nobility and elites frequented such venues.
She shifted her gaze to the stage.
Enormous and perfect for performances. Imagine a Gentleman standing there, thinking the same thing about it.
The theater was empty and silent.
Two Lolita girls moved about, finally settling on the seats before the stage, staring blankly.
She wondered when the Rising Sun Theater Group would perform there.
Since the Wish Machine had sent her here, she’d fulfill her condition soon.
When?
Then a sound echoed nearby.
Night Star Lan snapped to attention, hiding.
Night Lan poked her head out, checking the noise source.
A teen girl walked slowly along the edge, her hair a soft pink — like a mix of white and pink, looking far from ordinary.
Night Lan tilted her head, curious.
If the girl was here, likely related to the theater.
Was she a performer or staffer? Not sure if contact was possible.
“Mmm…”
Night Star Lan hesitated.
If given the chance, she desired plenty of info—like knowing where the Rising Sun Theater Group practiced or when performances started.
Such insight might streamline her plans.
But besides seeking out these details personally, asking around was the only other option.
Night Lan mulled it over, gathering courage, significantly increasing her presence.
This soon caught the girl’s attention.
Then, a mutual staring contest began.
