Chapter 324

Chapter 235: Little Ling is Sad

As soon as Xia Ling stepped through the door, her gaze was immediately drawn to the little baby snuggled in Xia Yu’s arms. Without a second thought, she rushed over to sit beside Xia Yu and enthusiastically stretched out her hands, “Baby, how about you let your sister hold you for a bit?”

The little baby merely glanced at Xia Ling and then gleefully wrapped her arms around Xia Yu’s head, clearly showing that Xia Ling wasn’t getting any love today.

This was how it always was—back then and now. Xia Ling felt a bit stifled. Did the baby really not like her? After all, she looked quite similar to Xia Yu. Observing the scene, her cousin Tang Mengying chuckled, “Don’t worry, Little Ling! Maybe Beili just isn’t familiar with you yet. Just spend more time with her!”

“Yeah,” Xia Yu chimed in, still unable to bear watching Xia Ling sitting there sad and alone. He tried to pass the baby to Xia Ling, encouraging her to take a shot at holding her. Naturally, Xia Ling gently took the baby, despite the baby’s obvious reluctance.

The little one suddenly panicked, wriggling around in an attempt to grab onto Xia Yu’s hand or clothes, but to no avail. Eventually, she was handed over to Xia Ling. Not long after, the baby’s big, watery eyes filled with tears…

Wah wah wah—

The baby cried, her voice as loud as ever, startling Wei Yin, who had been intently playing on her phone. “What happened? What happened?”

Tang Mengying pointed helplessly at the flustered Xia Ling and the bodyguard, equally baffled as to why her child was acting this way. Stuck holding the baby, she rocked her gently, but there was no sign of improvement. Xia Ling could only keep her frustration bottled up and hand the baby back to Xia Yu. “You take her. She just doesn’t like me.”

And sure enough, as soon as Xia Yu took the baby, she stopped crying immediately and nestled her little face against Xia Yu’s shoulder, her tiny hands clinging tightly to his shirt… “Um…”

Xia Yu felt a bit awkward and flashed a smile at Xia Ling. This wasn’t her fault! She had no clue why the baby adored her so much.

At the same time, Jiang Hanhang and Jiang Kekai, who had been snoozing in their car, both opened their eyes at the same time, not sure why sleep was eluding them.

Stretching her arms, Jiang Hanhang was the first to speak up, “Sis, you can’t sleep either, right? Let’s go find Xia Yu and Xia Ling!” “Sure.”

Jiang Kekai didn’t mind the idea. After all, she was also missing Xia Yu. Maybe that was why she couldn’t sleep—what a little heartthrob he was!

Once they got out of the car, Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang teamed up to head to Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s grandma’s house. They didn’t really know the way, but they could always call someone to come get them.

Just then, Xia Ling’s phone rang—

The fact that the baby preferred Xia Yu over her made Xia Ling feel super awkward, so when her phone rang, she seized it as an excuse to step outside and clear her head. Once outside, seeing Jiang Hanhang reminded her of her own relationship with Jiang Hanhang, prompting her to ask a rather shocking question: “Hanhang, do you find me really annoying?”

Jiang Hanhang thought Xia Ling was joking, and without holding back, she rolled her eyes, “Yeah, you’re pretty annoying, what’s it to you?” “Nothing much.”

The usually upbeat and confident Xia Ling began to feel down. Could it be… she really was annoying? She started reflecting on what exactly was off about her.

Watching Xia Ling sulking ahead, Jiang Hanhang quietly turned to her sister and asked, “Sis, what’s wrong with her? Did staying up late mess up her brain? Why else would she ask me something like that?”

This prompted Jiang Kekai to roll her eyes back at Hanhang, “She brought this upon herself, let her figure it out.”

Xia Ling returned with two adorable girls just as the relatives were eagerly trying to figure out their identities while simultaneously reaching for their pockets… they were quite accustomed to showering children with money.

Eventually, they learned from Xia Hong that the girls were simply friends of Xia Yu and Xia Ling.

But… with red envelopes in hand, they certainly weren’t about to hold back. I mean, who could resist giving money to two cute little girls? It was only five bucks, after all!

Jiang Kekai, understanding the drill, calmly accepted the red envelope and cheerfully said, “Uncle, Auntie, wishing you prosperity!” Jiang Hanhang quickly followed suit.

Before long, Xia Ling led them to the third floor and exclaimed, “Cousin, open the door.”

Creak—

The door swung open, revealing Wei Yin once more.

When Jiang Kekai and Wei Yin looked up at each other, they were both taken aback, clearly recognizing one another. Then, Wei Yin snapped back to reality and warmly welcomed the special guests, “Please… come in.”

Jiang Kekai nodded and stepped forward into the room.

“Little Ning!”

Xia Yu was a little surprised to see Jiang Kekai and Jiang Hanhang arrive so soon, but she still habitually greeted Jiang Kekai.

Looking at Xia Yu and the baby in her arms, then glancing over at Tang Mengying who was playing on her phone, Wei Yin turned her attention back to Jiang Kekai, “Is this your child?” “Yep,” Wei Yin said, a bit sentimental, “I put in quite the effort to get this little one.”

At that moment, she remembered what Xia Ling had said about Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai, surprised that it was actually true and that they had come to visit.

Grinning, Wei Yin then looked at Jiang Kekai and asked, “And you? I’ve heard about your story too! When are you planning to get married? Any plans for a little one?” “If it happens, it happens! As for marriage…” Jiang Kekai looked lovingly at Xia Yu, “I’m not in a rush. We’re still young, and we should give each other time to adjust.”

In other words, she was waiting for Xia Yu to be ready. After all, he was too young for such responsibilities. Wei Yin could see that.

“Well, don’t forget to send us an invite when the time comes!” “Of course, we’re all family now!”

The others watched the two women in slight confusion. It seemed they knew each other.

Then, Jiang Kekai introduced her sister, “This is… Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s… husband… I think that’s how it works. In Beijing, he’s the CEO of the Wei Group, and he was even featured as an outstanding up-and-comer overseas last year…”

Hearing her sister say this, Jiang Hanhang jotted it down in her mind. So, they were somebodies! What a coincidence running into someone famous here! Too bad she wasn’t into that kind of stuff and didn’t feel like putting in the effort, even if she had the conditions for it.
