### Chapter 24: Watching and Getting Made-Up
“Are you talking about me?”
A voice suddenly sounded behind Night Sakura Mirror, completely catching her off guard. It felt like she had run into a ghost.
The white-haired girl naturally jumped in surprise and fell flat on the ground.
“Oh!”
Night Sakura Mirror turned around, landing b*tt-first on the ground, with a fearful look at the petite figure standing before her.
When she realized the petite figure was the person who had been on her mind, Night Sakura Mirror let out a sigh of relief.
“So it’s you! You scared me to d*ath…”
“Huh? Am I really that scary? I’m so cute.”
“But even if someone is super cute, sneaking up and suddenly making noise like that would scare anyone! It doesn’t matter what they look like…”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
Night Lan nodded thoughtfully.
But she was already immune to such things.
The reason was that this stupid Ghost Girl always found opportunities to scare her, with daily pranks like suddenly popping out of nowhere. The result was that Night Lan or Night Star would pin her down and give her a good rubbing, or even spank her.
Eypar never learned her lesson and still kept repeating it, dragging Night Lan into trouble too.
Just this time, Night Lan’s sudden outburst was indeed pretty frightening to Night Sakura Mirror, although thankfully no ghostly cries—those would be even scarier.
After calming down, Night Sakura Mirror asked, “Why are you here?”
“Uh… I heard the Rising Sun Theater Group will be performing here, so I came over.”
This was a lie. Night Lan wouldn’t admit to stalking them for ages.
It felt odd, and admitting it would make her sound weird.
“So you’re here to watch the performance?”
“Well… yeah?”
Night Lan wasn’t sure how to respond.
Declining would blow her cover as an undercover fan.
After all, she was still hiding as a devout fan of the theater group.
Hearing this, Night Sakura Mirror smiled happily.
“That’s great! Since the theater troupe has been targeted by the Holy Church, they have lost all their audience and are quite troubled. Knowing you’re watching their show would surely make them very happy.”
“Heh heh…”
Night Lan laughed dryly, feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place.
She really wanted to watch the show and cheer up the theater leader and company.
But she had promised the future theater leader not to change anything.
Now…
Night Lan pondered for a bit and got a daring idea.
Surely just one time wouldn’t hurt, right?
It wouldn’t change much anyway; she’d keep the final say.
“Mmn, let’s go watch their performance then!”
“Wonderful!”
As long as there’s one loyal audience member, that’s the best possible scenario.
With an audience, the troupe can perform confidently and regain their confidence.
Yes, as long as even one person…
Night Lan continued to think, “I actually have another loyal audience member to introduce. Do you want me to?”
“Really? Please, do introduce us to her.”
“Then let me bring her out.”
As she spoke, a silver-haired figure walked over from nearby, precisely like Night Lan but different—Night Star.
Seeing Night Star, Night Sakura Mirror was stunned.
“Why do you both look so similar?”
Night Lan had refined the art of lying.
“Cough, cough, she’s my little sister. She also loves stage performances but is a bit shy. Don’t ask too many questions.”
As she said this, Night Star peeked out from behind Night Lan to secretly observe Night Sakura Mirror, creating a sisterly bond vibe.
Their personalities became clear.
“Does your little sister also love the Rising Sun Theater Group’s performances?”
“Mmm, yes.” Night Lan nodded gently.
Night Star chimed in, “Like my sister, I love watching the Rising Sun Theater Group. Everyone is amazing.”
“That’s wonderful.”
Although something still felt off, Night Sakura Mirror didn’t care anymore.
“In that case, come back and watch the performance of the theatrical troupe. Even if there are only two of us, they’ll still put on a show.”
“Wait.”
Night Lan stopped her.
“What’s the matter?”
“Um… we don’t want to expose ourselves. Being watched makes us feel embarrassed, so it’s better if we disguise ourselves.”
Mostly because Night Star Lan didn’t want the theatrical leader seeing her face.
Everything was fine now, but if returned to the future, and the leader found out she entered his story without permission, he might get angry.
So discretion was best.
Night Sakura Mirror thought of another angle.
“It’s better if you disguise yourselves. You’re ordinary people, and the Rising Sun Theater Group is against the Holy Church. If others see you mingling with us, it could backfire. Definitely better to disguise yourselves.”
Right as Night Lan was about to suggest something, Night Sakura Mirror suddenly had an idea and offered, “How about I give you some makeup?”
“Huh?”
Night Lan and Night Star both raised their heads simultaneously, perfectly in sync.
Night Sakura Mirror flashed an expectant smile.
“Don’t you want it?”
“Uh, sure.”
Night Star Lan agreed to her proposal.
It was twilight, with the sun not entirely set, the sky painted red—an incredibly beautiful sight.
Night Star Lan followed Night Sakura Mirror to the riverside where the air and light were good.
“Sit down.”
After making the two lolis sit, Night Sakura Mirror pulled out a makeup box.
“I’ll start applying your makeup now.”
“Just go ahead…”
In honesty, Night Star Lan was a bit nervous.
She had never applied makeup before, nor had she done it for someone else before.
Her usual routine barely involved washing with facial cleanser and brushing her hair with a comb.
Things like foundation or lip gloss hadn’t been used.
To sum up, while she knew makeup could make her cuter, she was too lazy for it.
But since someone else would apply it, Night Star Lan was both excited and nervous.
She wondered what her new look would be like.
Would it look bad?
With these thoughts, Night Star Lan welcomed her first proper makeup session.
Night Lan and Night Star both closed their eyes nervously, while Night Sakura Mirror began her work on both at once.
Eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip gloss, foundation…
Night Sakura Mirror went through every step for Night Lan and Night Star.
Halfway through, Night Star Lan started feeling itchy and a little embarrassed.
This kind of makeup was beyond her imagination, more embarrassing than wearing cutesy outfits.
“I… don’t want to continue. Can we stop?”
“No way, you’ve done half! Stay put.”
Night Sakura Mirror’s firm voice echoed, leaving no room for argument.
Though usually docile, she wouldn’t budge on makeup.
“Speaking of which… how did you meet the theater group, Night Sakura Mirror? Your name sounds off too, it’s so strange.”
Night Lan finally voiced her skepticism.
To this, Night Sakura Mirror replied mid-makeup, “Mm… I’m not actually from this country. My parents came from another country, and for some unknown reason, I was born here with a unique name.”
Night Lan hummed.
“Ah, that explains why you look different from everyone else here. So how did you end up meeting the Rising Sun Theater Group?”
“When I was young, my parents took me to the theater. I was quickly captivated by the stage performances, especially the makeup on the performers’ faces, which left a strong impression on me. At the time, I thought I would someday do the same for the performers. Later, introduced to a makeup artist by my parents, I eventually became one myself. That’s how I met the Rising Sun Theater Group while working as a theater makeup artist.”
Night Sakura Mirror reflected on her past.
It was only a few months ago, not far away.
At the time, she was a fairly famous makeup artist in the performer circles.
With her skill in makeup and somewhat attractive appearance, she quickly became popular.
She was pursued by many male performers, but she declined them.
Getting married meant she wouldn’t be able to continue her work with performers, even if she could, it wouldn’t be free.
Becoming a free makeup artist was better, after all, it was her dream.
Soon after, the theater she worked for welcomed a small troupe called the Rising Sun Theater Group.
They seemed to have only ten members, nothing as large as other professional organizations.
Night Sakura Mirror truly met them properly when she applied makeup for them.
She was first captivated by their performance.
Whatever the genre—magic, music, opera, or theater—it was a blend of classics and art, giving a powerful impression.
Many troupes merely performed to please those in power instead of genuinely loving their craft. But the Rising Sun Theater Group was different.
Whenever Night Sakura Mirror watched their shows, she could feel their passion, pride, and dedication, easily moved by their performances.
They were more like real performers!
Since then, she became their faithful audience whenever the opportunity arose.
Gradually, she formed friendships with the troupe members.
And now, she was the troupe’s official makeup artist.
Though the Rising Sun Theater Group faced adversity due to opposition from the Holy Church, Night Sakura Mirror held no regrets.
She even felt she owed them.
After all, she was the instigator.
As long as the Rising Sun Theater Group didn’t discard her, she would stay with them forever.
Simple as that.
