Chapter 339

### Chapter 350: Dog Torture Frenzy

That night, trying to sleep wasn’t easy due to the lingering effects of the poison that had left her dizzy. Xia Yu fell asleep in Jiang Kekai’s embrace almost instantly, barely a few seconds after settling in.

Holding Xia Yu close, Jiang Kekai lay awake—there was too much on her mind. Work, Xia Yu, and the mystery of who had poisoned them all kept spinning in her head.

Sigh

Exhaling softly, she wished Xia Yu would grow up quickly, though that meant more worries for her. She really needed someone reliable to help her out.

But for now, all she could do was hope Xia Yu could fend for herself soon.

In the morning, Xia Yu woke with a throbbing headache from the lingering toxins, while Jiang Kekai felt groggy from lack of sleep. Yawning, Jiang Kekai’s disciplined nature wouldn’t let her stay in bed, unless something extraordinary happened—well, being tired certainly didn’t count as special.

The past few days had been a blur of fun with Xia Yu, leaving her work piling up. She needed to get back to it before things got worse.

Slapping Xia Yu lightly on the b*tt, Jiang Kekai said, “Wake up, the sun is shining. Get up, or your breakfast will get cold.”

“Mmmh, Xiao Ning Jiejie, it’s not school day, why should I get up?”

“To eat breakfast, else it won’t be good for you.”

“But I don’t want to, I want to sleep some more.”

Seeing Xia Yu snuggle closer, Jiang Kekai sighed, “Fine, if you don’t want to get up, then stay in bed. But I have work to do.”

Jiang Kekai jumped out of bed immediately, leaving Xia Yu with nothing warm to hold. Even with eyes closed, she couldn’t fall back asleep.

Gurgling noises…

Without Xiao Ning Jiejie around, Xia Yu felt a little down. Holding her teddy bear pillow, she stared at Jiang Kekai working intently at her desk.

Another yawn, but Xia Yu was tired of just watching. So she got up, dressed, and sat beside Jiang Kekai, curious about what she did every day.

Not stopping Xiao Yu, Jiang Kekai figured these were matters Xia Yu would learn eventually. If Xia Yu was to become her secretary someday, she could handle these duties too.

Patting Xia Yu’s cute little head, Jiang Kekai handed her a blanket, “Go make me a cup of coffee, no sugar, just a bit of milk.”

“Okay!”

Xia Yu loved doing these small tasks for Jiang Kekai, making her feel useful.

Holding the cup, Xia Yu headed towards the kitchen. Her brother was still playing video games on his phone in the living room.

She couldn’t figure out how he had changed so much lately. Was it because he had no friends here? She shrugged off the thought as everyone had different lives.

Boiling water, Xia Yu added instant coffee powder, some milk, and began stirring. Oddly enough, she never imagined someone like Jiang Kekai drinking instant coffee.

Setting the coffee aside, Xia Yu returned, leaving her brother alone.

Meanwhile, outside, Xiao Ling and Jiang Hanhang had just woken up from their intense night and saw they had time before getting up again.

By midday, despite Xia Hong and Wang Wenjuan having stuff to do and couldn’t join, Chef Chen had arrived with fresh ingredients.

Xia Yu was dragged into cooking once again, following the routine where she cooked one day, then watched the next.

“Go ahead, prepare whatever you want, feel free to ignore me,” Chef Chen encouraged her.

Nervously stepping up, Xia Yu started washing, cutting, and chopping. Chef Chen looked away sometimes at Xia Yu’s rough cuts but understood she was new.

Soon dishes were ready—stir-fried vegetables, green pepper stir-fry, clear chicken slices with sauce, and seaweed egg drop soup. Each time Xia Yu finished, Chef Chen tasted and nodded approvingly. He found her simple ingredients—oil, salt, and soy sauce—perfect.

After turning off the stove, Xia Yu hesitantly asked, “Did I do okay?”

Chef Chen smiled, handing over the ingredients, “All done? Serve it, let’s eat. We’ll review later.”

Jiang Kekai turned off her computer and approached, pinching Xia Yu’s cheek playfully, “Let’s see what you made.”

“Today’s lunch is mine, not Chef Chen’s,” Xia Yu boasted.

“Really? Looks delicious!”

As they left their room, the others waited with bowls and chopsticks.

Jiang Hanhang sampled Xia Yu’s stir-fried vegetables, “Not as good as your noodles, too smoky.”

Xia Yu grinned, “That’s okay! Just give it a try.”

Xia Le and Xiao Ling didn’t care—they’d eaten Xia Yu’s food before. It was familiar but satisfying.

After lunch, Xia Yu decided to tell Xiao Ning Jiejie.

“Xiao Ning Jiejie, I’m going to Chef Chen’s hotel to learn!”

“Right now? Shouldn’t you rest first?”

“I can’t sleep.”

“Alright, I’ll go with you.”

“But I’m old enough!”

“That doesn’t mean much. We’re going. You don’t need to worry.”

Jiang Kekai’s possessiveness amused Xiao Le and Xiao Ling; they were used to it. But Xia Le, who was single, quietly left, feeling left out.
