### Chapter 3: Skedaddle
When the makeup artist finally woke up, she’d have to get acquainted with the current theater group members.
And this task would be handled by Night Star.
Night Star started introducing Shuyao and the others.
First up was Shuyao.
“This purple-haired lady is our theater group’s playwright, responsible for writing stage plays, opera scripts, and even puppet shows. She reads extensively and knows a lot; anything you’re unsure about, ask her and she should be able to answer.”
Shuyao nodded her head at Night Sakura Mirror in agreement.
“Hello there.”
Night Sakura Mirror nodded back, recognizing her through Night Star’s introduction.
Even though there used to be no such role as a playwright in previous troupes, all their scripts were bought from other writers. Having a playwright in their troupe was amazing.
Next, Night Star introduced Xiangyubai.
“She’s our singer. Loves singing and is the lead performer for opera acts, singing very beautifully. I think you should get familiar with her.”
Xiangyubai gave a slight smile.
“Hey there, makeup girl. I’m excited to work with you in the future.”
“Yeah, sounds good.”
Upon hearing the singer’s alias, Night Sakura Mirror suddenly recalled the first troupe’s enthusiastic male singer whose voice was incredibly powerful and filled with passion.
Now, they had a female singer, who was both beautiful and eloquent.
Night Sakura Mirror had vague memories of her voice even when she wasn’t fully awake. It seemed like it could have been her.
Well, that was memorable.
After introducing the singer, Night Star started talking about Lianhua next.
“Meet the adorable little loli. She’s our puppeteer. She excels at performing puppet shows and is super talented. You can watch her anytime you’re bored.”
Lianhua softly nodded, her manner polite.
“Hello, I’m the puppeteer. If you’re interested, I would love to perform some puppet shows for you.”
“Really? I’m looking forward to it then.”
Night Sakura Mirror thought Lianhua seemed easy to get along with.
Puppet shows sounded quite promising.
Of course, if only she could do her job better with these members.
She felt the responsibility deeply as the responsible party for putting on proper makeup for these pretty girls from now on.
Being a part of the troupe, Night Sakura Mirror was not going to let others take her responsibilities.
Putting on makeup for performers was her life’s purpose.
Before she got too lost in thought, Night Star interrupted.
“Makeup girl, we should be done here for today. No need to introduce the group leader; the gentleman and the fraudster aren’t out much except on weekends, and the announcer is as unpredictable as ever. Wait till the next outdoor performance before I finish up with her.”
“Mmhmm.”
Night Sakura Mirror had no objections.
The current troupe was vastly different—full of strangers.
She’d have to start all over again, getting acquainted with these new faces.
Conversation was essential in this process.
Night Sakura Mirror wanted to form bonds while giving everyone a makeover, which seemed like a great way to start.
She engaged in conversation with others like Shuyao and Lianhua.
Lianhua seemed quite keen on showing a few puppet shows to this “new” member.
She remembered that Night Star had seen these shows before.
They were stories about encounters within the troupe.
Through Lianhua’s adaptation by Night Star, tales of coincidental meetings with the group leader, gentleman, and fraudster became a series called ‘Dream’s Beginning.’
Another story was about puppetry, titled ‘Puppet’s Redemption,’ and one involving the singer, ‘Sound of Remembrance.’
Lastly, the playwright’s story was known as ‘Existed for Me.’
Not to mention, they also adapted a grand opera performance from Night Star into a puppet show, a truly remarkable piece worth watching.
Except for the announcer loli, every time Lianhua adapted real-life stories into puppet shows, she asked those involved.
While the group leader and others agreed, the announcer bluntly refused.
Seemed like she didn’t approve of having her secrets turned into public spectacle.
Out of respect for the announcer, Lianhua reluctantly backed off.
But wouldn’t it be harmless if she sneaked one or two puppet shows just for audience performer alone?
All troupe members’ encounter stories adapted into puppet shows sounded like healthy teamwork!
Hence, the makeup artist started watching Lianhua’s puppet performances.
This was an efficient way to understand the other members.
Shuyao, Xiangyubai, and Night Star joined in, revisiting these puppet shows once more.
As group members, they had already gone through these performances one or two times before.
But they never found them boring.
For Shuyao, valuable books warranted multiple readings.
For Xiangyubai, lovely songs were best enjoyed repeatedly.
And how could a fantastic puppet show be watched only once?
As for Night Star…
Everytime Lianhua performed on stage, she would always watch, end of story.
However, Night Star was lost in her own thoughts at the moment.
Sure, the unexpected revival of the makeup artist was quite pleasing. But Night Star was concerned about something else.
That big incident in the capital, according to the announcer, sounded ominous.
Game over, literally.
Nightingale remained in the Capital headquarters, but should she make an excuse to flee back to Yun Chang City?
—
Meanwhile:
Night Watcher Headquarters…
At this moment in headquarters cafeteria, Nightingale was eating.
After returning from the patrol grounds and spending another morning scouting, she figured staying longer wouldn’t change much.
She couldn’t stay in the headquarters forever, especially since the problem with doodling was solved now.
No reason to linger here anymore.
Outside of herself and Nightwing, the only real friend she had seemed to be Nightwing.
Their bond was thin though; she viewed them merely as acquaintance friends.
“Gosh, might as well come up with an excuse to leave.”
Since her talk with RabbitMo regarding the capital’s upcoming big event, she knew better than to stick around.
She wanted nothing to do with a potentially disastrous situation.
She was just a novice Night Watcher, not ready for major missions. Big problems were meant for experienced big shots to handle.
“Done deciding! Got to hurry back to Yun Chang City and snuggle with Zero Meow and White Fish!”
—
Night Star pondered on other issues.
