### Chapter 5: Dreams
It was nighttime.
Night Lan and Night Star were preparing to sleep in the Night Watcher Headquarters’ lounge, already planning their exit the next day.
She had already informed the leader today that she would be returning to Yun Chang City the next day.
The leader didn’t have any issues with this and let her go.
This was for the best.
Moreover, Night Lan managed to find an excuse to fool Night Feather, causing very little suspicion.
Only when Night Lan started saying her goodbyes did Night Feather’s eyes dim, possibly showing reluctance.
After all, there aren’t many who would tolerate her eccentric personality, let alone someone willing to play along when she’s “having a fit.”
Night Lan understood this, but her home was in Yun Chang City, which meant she couldn’t stay here.
So, she told Night Feather to look for her back in Yun Chang City, which solved everything.
In summary, Night Lan felt pretty satisfied with her trip to the capital city.
Though she hadn’t seen all of its cool buildings or scenery, she wasn’t too bothered about that either.
Frankly, Night Lan isn’t much of a shopper. She could take care of business and head straight home.
If the city had other close friends, she might’ve actually taken her time to explore.
But unfortunately, her only close friends here were those from the theater group and a few little lolis from Yun Chang City.
The former probably wouldn’t appear in the capital.
They’re part of the theater troupe in the Star Eclipses organization, and if they showed up in such an important place, they could risk being found out by the big shots at headquarters.
The latter, however, are waiting for Night Lan to come back.
Recently, Night Lan had received calls from a few little lolis constantly asking when she was coming back, pleading softly like she could barely hold on herself.
It turned out little lolis can be pretty scary when they get emotional.
“Ugh, I don’t want to think about it anymore. I should just get some sleep as early as possible, wake up early, and then tomorrow I’ll take a plane back to Yun Chang City; after that, whatever happens in the capital won’t be my problem.”
Muttering under her breath, Night Lan hugged Night Star beside her, enjoying the soft touch, and soon drifted off to sleep.
Simultaneously…
An invisible vortex formed over the capital, unnoticed by anyone.
A mysterious figure stood high above, gradually fading away in the silent night.
The consciousness of those falling asleep was swept up in this unseen whirlwind, going unnoticed.
Except, of course, by [Zhi Xing] from the Night Watcher Headquarters.
“Alert! Unknown Star Eclipses, called the Dream Narrator, has appeared. Locating position… Attempt failed! Undetermined location and danger level, severe lack of information—exercise caution, Night Watchers!”
Inside the leader’s office…
Ling Feng wasn’t sleeping despite the late hour.
As the leader, he was always busy, likely getting only two to three hours of sleep daily, sometimes even going days without rest.
Tonight, he was sorting routine files, only to unexpectedly receive news of a star eclipse event.
Although star eclipses in the capital were commonplace, tonight’s seemed rather odd.
“‘Dream Narrator’? Even its location can’t be locked down? Everything is unknown—this is unusual.”
The leader quickly reached a conclusion.
In the capital, [Zhi Xing] is different from [Zhi Xing]s in other cities.
The ones elsewhere are mere copies—some abilities can’t be replicated, making them defective at best.
However, the capital’s [Zhi Xing] is the real deal, able to catch any star eclipse’s vibe and pinpoint its location, including its specifics like rank, effect, and weakness—almost like an “enhanced lens” for star eclipses. Even some Ultra Star Eclipses can’t escape its notice.
Yet this time, [Zhi Xing] could only detect its name and some fluctuations, a rare occurrence indeed.
Reflecting on the information provided by Mo Tu from Yun Chang City, the leader concluded.
“This must be the star eclipse Mo Tu mentioned. Indeed, something exceptional.”
His expression grew serious, and he stepped out of his office.
Arriving at the command room…
Several staff members were busy managing recent events.
There were also quite a few Sunlight Night Watchers present, awaiting new details.
The leader asked, “How’s it going?”
“Report, leader. We couldn’t detect any fluctuations of that star eclipse. It seems to have been just a fleeting moment, leaving no trace behind.”
Hearing this, the leader pondered, “Are there any anomalies in other areas?”
“No, our Night Watchers’ patrols cover the entire capital, but we haven’t detected any star eclipse activity.”
Now, people started speculating.
“Does this mean the star eclipse just came and went without a trace? Or is there another method at play? What does this star eclipse want?”
The heavyweight Night Watchers present began pondering heavily, their minds spinning wildly.
Outside, the world was still calm, but inside the Night Watcher Headquarters, things were bustling furiously.
…
Elsewhere,
Night Starlan slowly opened her eyes, her vision fuzzy. Fully awake, she realized something was off about the surroundings.
“Huh?! Where am I?!”
Night Lan and Night Star looked around in panic, unable to quickly adapt to the unfamiliar environment.
She remembered clearly being in the headquarters’ lounge, so how could she suddenly end up in this strange place?
“Hold on! Could it be…the ‘Star’ has activated again?!”
Night Starlan thought of this possibility, feeling quite certain.
Every time she appeared in a new place, it was often due to the Wish Machine.
However, there was a problem.
She hadn’t made a wish.
For the Wish Machine to work, a wish was essential. Yet recently, Night Starlan hadn’t made any wishes or had even strong thoughts; it made no sense for the machine to activate.
“Mmm…Could it be I said something in my sleep?”
Night Starlan mused, finding this unlikely.
If random mumblings in dreams could trigger the Wish Machine, without basic checks, the Extraordinary Star would be pretty useless.
So, this couldn’t be the Wish Machine’s doing.
Then, what was happening?
Night Starlan pondered calmly, thinking deeply. Suddenly, she had a light-bulb moment.
Seeing Night Lan and Night Star raise their hands and pinch each other’s cheeks, they found no pain.
“Hmm?”
“Oh wow?”
The two little lolis looked intrigued.
“Could I be dreaming?”
That was all she could think of.
But clear dreams like this were uncommon; usually, they were vague when waking up, barely remembering details.
Now, in this sharp dream, she found it oddly amusing.
Perhaps she could do whatever she wished!
