Chapter 368: Heart in Play
Stepping back into the bustling kitchen, Xia Yu swiftly located Master Chen and asked, “Master, what do I need to do today?”
“Keep practicing your kn*fe skills. See those carrots? You need to carve them all into different flower designs before you can leave. The earlier you finish, the earlier you can go.” “What if I don’t finish?”
“Then finish before leaving.” Xia Yu: “…..”
Master Chen seemed quite irritated, unlike his usual grumpy self. Xia Yu suspected someone had irked him earlier. Oh well, she guessed coming at this time wasn’t her best move.
But orders are orders. Xia Yu had no choice but to follow through.

Li Yang started feeling drowsy halfway through, and her efficiency dropped. It took her three hours to complete the task. Luckily, Jiang Kekai was also immersed in work and forgot about the time, or she would have stormed into the kitchen wondering what was going on.

Master Chen still looked displeased as he checked Li Yang’s work personally: “All good, you can go now. Be punctual tomorrow.”

Finally, they were free. Xia Yu was almost scared out of her wits. Finished this round, she could get some rest tonight. She washed her hands, pulled out her phone from her pocket, and noticed it was already three hours later.
Oh no, Sister Little Ning must be furious, right? With a mix of anxiety and trepidation, Xia Yu went to where Jiang Kekai was working.
She didn’t barge in immediately, poking her head in first to make sure Jiang Kekai was genuinely engrossed in her work and not upset. After confirming she was safe, Xia Yu entered confidently: “Little Ning Sister.”
“Hmm?”
Xia Yu’s voice brought Jiang Kekai back into the real world. She glanced at the time herself and realized it indeed was late.
Seeing Xia Yu looking like she just finished training, Jiang Kekai fetched a tissue and wiped Xia Yu’s face, asking, “Why did it take so long today?”
Jiang Kekai didn’t seem particularly surprised by whatever Xia Yu complained about next but patiently explained why Master Chen was crabby, saying something about being in an inappropriate place for such talk and that they should go home to discuss further.
Thus they left for the Xia family residence. On the way, Jiang Kekai pulled out her laptop once more, tapped a few keys, and showed Xia Yu a news page.
“There it is, the answer you sought. Just don’t say anything to him though, okay?”
Xia Yu curiously peered at the headline: _Sous Chef’s Fraud Uncovered…_
No wonder Master Chen was so disgruntled; staying calm after that kind of headline was impressive. That title practically spelled doom for him.
Jiang Kekai closed the laptop, handing it back: “You know what happens to people dragged under the bus. Let’s mind our own business. He’ll deal with it.”
“But how will he handle it?”
“I don’t know. They have their ways in cooking circles, and I’m not a chef myself.”
While Jiang Kekai acted indifferent, she was too tired to argue, only trying to keep up for Xia Yu’s sake. As the saying goes, pride comes before a fall.
“Terrified?” Xia Yu wasn’t shy in admitting her fear. After all, she was just trying to do something good, but money problems now threatened everything.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve got your back,” Jiang Kekai comfortingly pinched Xia Yu’s cheek. Helping Xia Yu mattered more to her than anything else she did.
