Chapter 358

Chapter 369: Hanhang Gets Whacked

This time Xia Yu had been learning for quite some time. If not for Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang informing their parents in advance that Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai were going to Master Chen’s place to learn cooking, the parents would have probably already gone out looking for them.

Look at the current time. If calculated as usual, the family should have already finished their meal and be sitting together watching TV and chatting. Instead, here we are.

Fortunately, Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai finally made it back home around eight.

Compared to the anxiety of the adults, Jiang Hanhang was as carefree as ever. Upon seeing Jiang Kekai, she immediately complained, “Sis, you guys are back later than expected by over an hour. Do you know how hungry I am? Did you eat outside?”

As expected from her sister, Jiang Hanhang’s thought process gave Jiang Kekai a headache. “Eat your head, go play your games.” With that, she took Xia Yu back to their room, and soon after, the two came out wearing only towels.

The adults on the couch were used to this by now. These kids showering together at their age; pretty impressive stuff. Meanwhile, there was a knock on the door.

Xia Hong went to open it to find Master Chen with his two assistants, each carrying something in their hands.

Thinking it was for one of his cooking sessions like before, Xia Hong welcomed him, but Master Chen was quicker: “I have some urgent matters, can’t come down today. Here’s what I prepared earlier; please give my apologies to the Young Lady.”

Three minutes later, Master Chen and his team had arranged the food on the dining table and quickly left, making it clear how urgent it was.

Xia Hong didn’t bother asking what was happening; Master Chen clearly wanted to keep it under wraps.

“Ahh, it smells so good,” said Jiang Hanhang, the princess of rice-eaters. She rushed to set up the table, grab bowls, and add some rice.

Despite her impatience, she kept her manners and waited until everything was ready—except she couldn’t resist sitting on the couch again, feeling very hungry indeed.

Jiang Hanhang cuddled up to Xia Ling, pouting. Since sister Xia Yu had stopped paying attention to her, she had no choice but to rely on Xia Ling.

True to her nature, Xia Ling adjusted her position to make Hanhang more comfortable. Gurgle, gurgle, their stomachs were growling loudly.

Yet Xia Yu and Jiang Kekai were still nowhere to be found.

Finally, Jiang Hanhang lost it. She bravely approached the bathroom door and shouted, “Sis, are you pigs in there? Seriously, how long does it take to shower? The food is going to get cold!”

Click.

As if on cue, the bathroom door opened, revealing Jiang Kekai with an icy glare. “Hanhang, are you itching for a scolding?”

Despite her cheerful face, Jiang Hanhang sensed something sinister. Not good!

Hanhang’s sixth sense kicked in, prompting her to bolt back to Xia Ling, burying her face in Xia Ling’s arms and whining, “Xiao Ling, Sis is bullying me.”

Xia Ling: “…Seriously?”

Hanhang had sprinted and crashed onto Xia Ling with surprising force, which really startled her. Given Hanhang’s flat physique, this charge was like getting tackled by a linebacker; no way could it not hurt.

By the time Xia Ling recovered, Jiang Kekai arrived and scooped Hanhang away with a dark smile, “Go eat first. I’ll deal with this disobedient little sister.”

With that, she dragged Hanhang back into the room and closed the door behind her.

Soon, cries and pleas emerged from inside…

The adults silently observed, finding comfort in the chaos. “Okay, okay, let’s eat. The food will get cold.”

Given that Jiang Kekai was dealing with Hanhang, they wasted no time heading to the dining table. Click.

Jiang Kekai and Hanhang emerged from the room, Jiang Kekai with a bright, carefree smile, while Hanhang looked a bit worse for wear, tears in her eyes and hands covering her bottom.

Everyone saw this, but no one spoke, only smiling.

Next to Xia Ling, Jiang Hanhang continued her complaints: “Are we still good sisters? Why didn’t you help me earlier? Two against one, we could have won!”

“Sure?”

Xia Ling calmly picked up a piece of meat, enjoying her meal without a care. After all, this was routine for her troublemaker sister.

Seeing Jiang Kekai disciplining Jiang Hanhang, Jiang Hanhang warned Xia Yu, “Watch it, I’ll get you too, knowing how often my sis hangs around you.”

Xia Yu froze, her playful facade crumbling as she realized the implications. She cast a worried glance at Xiao Ning who was staring right back at her.

Their eyes met for a moment; Xia Yu quickly averted hers, feeling guilty and unsure of herself.

Just as Xiao Ning broke the eye contact, Wenjuan put an end to their banter: “Alright, let’s eat. No playing around until after dinner.” Gurgle, gurgle. Despite the words, Xia Yu already had no appetite.
