Chapter 21: Cross-Dressing Shota?!
Inside the theater.
The announcer appeared in a corner, silent as a ninja, unnoticed by everyone.
Her entrances were always low-key, like a ghost that pops in and out of existence.
In fact, she probably excelled at being elusive even more than that embarrassing ghost girl.
But even if the announcer was as subtle as a shadow in the night, someone still took notice of her.
After all, the theater wasn’t that big, and the people inside weren’t exactly ordinary. It was pretty easy to sense a sudden presence.
“Ah, isn’t that the announcer? What brings you to the theater?”
Kong Yu Bai stood not far from the announcer, smiling at the cursed black-haired loli.
The announcer sighed softly.
“Playing dumb, huh?”
“Ha! So it’s the audience performer threatening you, right?”
“Nope. Even if she hadn’t approached me, I’d have joined sooner or later. This is just a head start.”
She tugged at her own short black hair, clearly trying to get used to this new body. Switching between two bodies was such a hassle!
Every time she made the switch, it took a while to adjust.
So annoying.
Kong Yu Bai strolled over, continuing, “You know, as a member of the theater group, you should be more proactive in helping the audience. It’s kind of lazy to make her come to you all the time.”
“Huh? The theater member is Mo Rabbit, not Mo Tu, and I’m just filling in for the former. Isn’t that girl always using this kind of talk to distinguish between the two identities?”
The announcer shrugged, showing no interest in chit-chatting with Kong Yu Bai any longer.
“I’ll go get ready. You guys take care.”
“Uh-huh, see you!”
Kong Yu Bai waved at the announcer’s back as she vanished into the theater.
Now she should find a spot to rest in the capital, getting ready for the dream realm.
After sensing the announcer’s presence fade, Kong Yu Bai pondered for a moment.
“Hmm… The announcer’s personality really isn’t obedient enough. How can I make her a bit more compliant?”
Night Lan seemed to have mentioned some plan.
Kong Yu Bai wasn’t expecting the announcer to bow to the audience performer completely, just that she’d step up when needed.
But alas, the announcer seemed more loyal to her own fun; she needed to find a way to correct that bad habit.
Sorry, announcer.
Kong Yu Bai felt a small pang of guilt, but thinking about the audience performer’s smile made it quickly vanish.
A shift in perspective.
The announcer’s figure appeared within the capital.
She looked up at the pitch-black night, pondering for a moment.
Once in the capital, she could accurately divine the happenings here.
Gotta love those regional bonuses.
Trying to divine things in the capital was way easier when you were actually here!
However, after attempting to divine for a while, she didn’t really come up with much.
The only thing she confirmed was that that guy’s true form only existed in that misty dream realm.
“Is that guy living in the dream? Kind of like a legendary nightmare, but weaving the dreams of millions? Even a nightmare wouldn’t stand a chance against that!”
It sounded stressful, but hey, that’s what made it fun!
“Guess it’s time to find a place to change identities.”
The announcer walked to a nearby public restroom, confidently stepping into the men’s room.
Just then, someone walked by and was left shocked, staring at the cute little girl who just entered the boys’ bathroom.
“Whoa! Could that adorable loli actually be a cross-dressing shota?! But I guess that could work…”
Before long, a figure emerged from the men’s room—it was the newly transformed black-haired youth.
He glanced at a strange guy squatting not far away, and the expression on that dude’s face suggested he was awaiting something.
“Uh… strange. Why hasn’t that cute black-haired loli come out? If it was a girl who realized she walked into the boys’ bathroom, she’d be out in a flash, but now… is she really a cross-dressing shota?! No way!”
“Heh.”
Mo Tu simply chuckled softly and turned to leave.
He didn’t plan to go to headquarters just yet; first, he needed to check into a hotel.
He didn’t want anyone noticing him back in the capital—too many pesky problems could arise, and he’d be forced to deal with them.
That kind of fun would just waste time.
Besides, just looking for a place to sleep? Anywhere would do.
The identity of the Sunlight Night Watcher was pretty universal; no matter how long he stayed in this city, no one would notice he was ever there.
Soon, Mo Tu found a decent inn and decided to stay there for a few days.
After using a fake identity to check in, he made his way to his room and flopped onto the bed.
Looking at the time… it was already late.
The city’s residents were gradually falling asleep, prepping to dive into their bizarre dream worlds.
Ordinary folks with low mental strength would think it was just a very real dream, never sensing anything amiss, and would naturally expose their true thoughts.
“If that’s really the case, what will my true thoughts manifest into in the dream? I can’t wait to find out.” A smile of anticipation played on Mo Tu’s lips.
Though he knew exactly what to expect from himself.
“Alright then, time to get some good sleep tonight.”
…
Meanwhile.
At the Night Watcher Headquarters, the staff was gearing up to step into the Star Eclipses dream realm.
In a certain lounge.
Night Lan lay in bed, waiting for drowsiness to hit.
“Mmm, Book Yao and Kong Yu Bai are ready. I wonder if it’ll work? And… is Mo Tu in the capital yet? I hope he’s not going to bail on me. I just want everything to go smoothly so I can get home soon!”
Night Lan mumbled to herself, beginning to split her consciousness in two.
The individual known as Night Lan quickly fell into a deep sleep.
In the theater, Night Star was still wide awake, sitting in one of the audience seats with Lianhua beside her.
Meanwhile, Book Yao and Kong Yu Bai were bunking in a hotel in the capital.
As for why they weren’t sleeping in the theater, it was mostly due to concerns that the Star Eclipses interference might not penetrate the theater’s defenses; sleeping within the capital’s confines seemed a lot safer.
As humans, they wouldn’t emit Star Eclipses energy, so they probably wouldn’t attract any bigwigs’ attention.
Even if some weirdos were eyeing them, Kong Yu Bai could easily use her remaining two-thirds of power to escape danger.
All in all, Night Star didn’t have to worry about them.
Now, they just needed to wait to be swept into the Star Eclipses dream realm.
“Ah… here it comes!”
At that moment, as Night Star spoke, Night Lan awakened in the dream, appearing in this fantastical dream world.
Here was the dream realm, a real dream where anything was possible.
And Night Lan’s mission was to explore and casually relay the information she’d discovered back to the leader.
“Let’s go, time to take action!”
