Chapter 369

**Chapter 380: Choosing the Dorm**

As she saw Jiang Hanhan and her own sister discussing and leaving the room, and Xia Ling handing out all the snacks in her room, Xia Yu knew… she was no longer the coolest kid in school. Instead, she’d become one of the two coolest chicks…

But whatever, they were all family.

Thus armed with backpacks full of clothes and daily necessities, and carrying big bags of snacks, the three ladies set off.

With that many snacks, even a car’s trunk couldn’t fit them all. No problem, if one car couldn’t carry it, why not just get another one? Yes, Xia Yu was actually lugging around a huge bag loaded with snacks—which were mostly chips and took up a ton of space but contained a lot of air. Fortunately, their trip to school went smoothly.

By now, there were already a lot of buses parked inside the school. Since lower-grade students could go on field trips together, each grade had so many classes that the school needed to arrange many buses.

Ignored and carefree, the trio quickly reached their classroom.

At this moment, everyone wore broad, happy smiles. Their backpacks bulging, they probably prepared everything last night for this exciting field trip.

Carrying those massive snack bags was quite a hassle. As soon as Jiang Hanhan entered the classroom, she immediately divided the snacks with Xia Ling and then placed the rest on the teacher’s desk: “Take what you want, fellas.”

Truly, it was an impressive move. Instantly, Jiang Hanhan became the class’s coolest chick. All the kids who wanted freebies rushed in like a horde. High Xiaotian almost joined them until Xia Yu grabbed him, then promptly put the snack bag on the aisle: “Get what you want, fast, or I’ll start distributing these later too.”

“Wow, so many snacks. Are you guys seriously just giving these away?”

High Xiaotian wasted no time grabbing his share. Xia Yu also unpacked her own pack, filling it with snacks until it couldn’t hold more.

Even though they’d loaded everything, the snack bag still seemed untouched.

Then Xia Yu put away her backpack and carried the leftover snacks to the teacher’s desk: “Feel free to take what you like.”

Everyone thought this was all there would be, but now there was another round of snacks—more than before. They got excited, trying to avoid being bumped by snack-snatching classmates. However, Xia Yu was caught as soon as he left.

Turning around, he saw Jiang Hanhan: “What’s up?”

Jiang Hanhan didn’t hide anything, pointing at Class Monitor Huang Qiao’s seat: “Latest intel, we’re staying in a three-person room at the hotel, and each bed is for two people. What do you plan to do?”

“Well, uh… I’m not sure.”

Xia Yu was originally expecting individual rooms, but now he learned it was a three-person room with double beds. That meant six people per room. Fair enough; if everyone had an individual room, the 200 yuan dorm fee wouldn’t cover transportation or meals.

“I knew you’d say that.”

Then Jiang Hanhan pulled Xia Yu over to Xia Ling’s seat and asked, “The form?” She handed over a form with several spots.

Seeing that it was the dorm assignment list for the trip, Xia Yu noticed names already filled in: Jiang Hanhan, Xia Ling, Huang Qiao, Li Jia, Gao Yao. There was only one spot remaining. As if anticipating Li Yang’s thoughts, Huang Qiao assured, “This is for our rooms during the trip. Put your name down.”

Looking at Huang Qiao, Xia Yu recalled past unpleasantness with Jiang Hanhan and Xia Ling, unsure how they reconciled and agreed to share the same dorm. Regarding Li Jia and Gao Yao, Xia Yu knew little. It was surprising these poor-performing girls became friends with the class monitor.

Sensing Xia Yu’s hesitation, Jiang Hanhan wasn’t pleased: “Come on, Xia Yu? You don’t want to stay with us? Imagine my sister flying over to grab you if she found out I let you wander alone.”

“Is it really that serious?”

Grinning mischievously, Jiang Hanhan replied, “Try me sometime.”

Given Jiang Kekai’s concern for Xia Yu, he figured she might act on her worries if she heard he was sharing a dorm with so many guys. Avoiding trouble was probably best.

So, Xia Yu jotted down his name in the last spot: “Done.”

Nodding, Huang Qiao collected the list: “Others will have to fill this out. We’re set. To avoid mix-ups. And, Xia Yu, my apologies for my behavior last term. I had misunderstandings, please forgive me.”

“Mine?” Xia Yu gazed toward Jiang Kekai and Xia Ling, wondering about something. How did they expose his secrets?

Plowing through Xia Yu’s gaze, Jiang Hanhan was fearless and had no shame, “You’ll have a harder time keeping things secret eventually. Why not have another person know?”

Xia Yu conceded with a sigh.

Since she was unapologetic, Xia Yu didn’t fight back. He knew he would lose an argument with her. Also, fighting reminded him last night she and Xia Ling were at each other’s throats. Not worth it.

“Alright, alright,” Xia Ling said, pinching Xia Yu’s face playfully before hugging him closely. “We’ve been in discussions, Xia Yu. Next time, we’ll talk with you first before making decisions.”

Of course, Xia Yu was annoyed that these two shared his secrets without his input. One was his relative, the other was dating his crush.

Still, it somewhat comforted him hearing Xia Ling’s words. Xia Yu glared at Huang Qiao, warning:

“Keep it confidential.”

Huang Qiao gave a thumbs-up. She thought fixing things would be difficult, but it turned out easy with Jiang Kekai and Xia Ling’s help.

Nothing pressing, Xia Yu returned to his seat to continue his downtime, downtime, downtime.

Sure enough, not long after, Huang Qiao walked up to the front with some forms. Using a microphone, she announced, “Starting dorm assignments for the trip. Take a form and find someone to fill it if you want to be class leader.”

Hearing this, students became excited to get involved.

Regrettably, there weren’t many forms available, and they were taken within seconds.

In the back row, Gao Xiaotian knew he hadn’t gotten a form and wasn’t keen on being a class leader. Troublesome! So he’d wait for another volunteer.

Worst case, the teachers would handle it later.

Turning to Xia Yu next to him, Gao Xiaotian suggested, “Hey man, wanna room with me? No better way for a late-night gaming session.”

Xia Yu responded flatly, “Not into MOBA games.”

Gao Xiaotian realized Xia Yu wasn’t keen on much. He was uncertain how to interact with Xia Yu. But soon, a friend of Gao Xiaotian brought him the form: “Here, write your name.”

Finally! Gao Xiaotian wrote his name down without hesitation and handed the form to Xia Yu: “There are spaces left. Fill yours!”

“No need, I’ve done it.” Gao Xiaotian stared in disbelief.

Remembering Xia Yu’s popularity, and how disconnected he seemed since school started, Gao Xiaotian suspected something but was cautious: “You filled it earlier, didn’t you?”

Xia Yu confirmed, “Yeah, with the girls.”

Gao Xiaotian was stunned, “Aren’t you worried they’ll agree?”

Truthfully, when writing the form, Gao Xiaotian and his friend joked that if there was no room left, they might get moved to a female dorm. It was just a joke, though, as reality meant sharing with another class.

To their surprise, Xia Yu did it anyway and appeared hesitant about it too.

If they were in his shoes, they’d boast everywhere! Now, they were clueless about Xia Yu’s intentions—maybe he’s a girl!

Upon seeing Gao Xiaotian’s expression, Xia Yu returned the form with a reminder: “No more slots left. Wouldn’t want to mix with others from different classes, right?”

Picking up his phone, Xia Yu started playing. School allowed student smartphones, and they all brought them for easy contact and photos.

And the spring outing proceeded…
