Chapter 383: Who Lost?
Sitting on the grass, guarding the home, and playing with the phone; this was simply an incredibly easy task.
However, just as Xia Yu was thoroughly engrossed in her game, a short-haired girl noticed her: “Hey.” Xia Yu: “??”
Curiosity piqued, Xia Yu lifted her head and discovered that this girl wasn’t from her own class: “Excuse me… do you need something?”
The girl nervously looked around and seeing there were no other people close by, quickly fished out a square pink envelope from her pocket and threw it to Xia Yu.
Before Xia Yu could even ask anything, she had already dashed off like a frightened rabbit, ignoring all of Xia Yu’s calls. Xia Yu: “.…”
Fixing her eyes on the pink envelope tossed at her, although she hadn’t opened it yet, Xia Yu seemed to have guessed what it contained. She carefully opened the envelope, just a glance at the first two sentences confirmed her suspicions.
Surely enough… she had received a love letter.
Isn’t being given a love letter and a public confession something only supposed to happen on TV? Xia Yu never thought she would ever experience this; it was worth it.
Taking another look, Xia Yu was curious about what the girl liked about her. Also, for her to be from a different class, it was quite unexpected.
But it made sense. Sister Little Ning had once openly declared herself within Class 15. Only a class that is clueless would do such a thing.
Excitement and anticipation, but after reading, Xia Yu found herself confused. The letter wasn’t long, so there wasn’t much content.
In essence, the girl liked Xia Yu for her good looks, her gentle behavior, and didn’t care that Xia Yu’s grades weren’t great. She expressed the desire to date Xia Yu, and provided her QQ number at the end.
Considering both were elementary school students, this small amount was understandable, after all, their knowledge was limited. As for whether or not she’d respond, it was clearly a no. After all, since she had Sister Little Ning, why go for someone else?
Besides, even though she was a boy on paper, in reality she was already a girl. If she really went on to date this girl, it would be mocking her, right?
Although the note said if she agreed she should add the QQ, it didn’t provide an alternative. Xia Yu was perplexed.
Unbeknownst to Xia Yu, Jiang Hanhan and Xia Ling had returned. They seemed to be planning to scare Xia Yu as they approached quietly from behind, making almost no noise.
Thus… Xia Yu, engrossed in reading her letter, didn’t notice their return.
Jiang Hanhan aimed to frighten Xia Yu, but then her eyes were drawn to the pink envelope: “Oh, Xiao Yu, did I see someone’s sister not being loyal to her?”
This hit its mark, scaring Xia Yu so badly that if her heart were a character, it might’ve jumped out. But before Xia Yu could complain, Jiang Hanhan, the naive loli, didn’t mind stirring more trouble; she lunged at Xia Yu, trying to grab the envelope. “Don’t you know that men and women aren’t supposed to touch?”
Xia Yu was truly baffled. Before she could react, Jiang Hanhan was already pinning her down and had grabbed the letter from her hand. “Cut the act — pretend modesty? Xia Ling, help!”
Xia Ling hadn’t expected Xia Yu to get a love letter in such a short time, even she was curious about its contents.
However, unlike Jiang Hanhan, Xia Ling wasn’t violent. Family was family.
With a smile, Xia Ling squatted beside Xia Yu: “What does it say? Could I see?”
These two troublesome lolis were too much for Xia Yu. Seeing there wasn’t any compromising information, Xia Yu decided to comply.
But before doing that, she proposed a condition: “If you don’t spread it, I’ll let you read it.”
“Well, Xiao Yu, would I do something like that?”
Xia Yu was surprisingly compliant, attractive, and perhaps Xia Yu’s sister also enjoyed her. If Xia Ling had fallen for Xia Yu earlier, she might’ve also been smitten.
But now, Xia Yu hadn’t married her sister yet. So Xia Hanhan pinched Xia Yu’s cheek again, finding her skin too soft. “First, make the promise.”
It was fine to be teased — Xia Yu couldn’t let her bottom line slip. She’d get back at Jiang Hanhan later. “Alright. We won’t spread it loudly. Should we see it now?”
Relenting, Xia Yu handed over the crumpled letter to Xia Ling. Xia Yu also complained, “You’re too rough. No one will want you in the future.”
Jiang Hanhan: “Are you asking for a world of pain?”
Xia Ling: “The sister’s things do not concern her little sister.”
The letter was taken away, with a smile, Xia Ling was looking through it. But Jiang Hanhan didn’t get up.
They were still on the grass — staying pinned like this was embarrassing. Xia Yu started getting anxious. “I’ve given you what you wanted. Let me go?”
“Quiet.”
Jiang Hanhan pinched Xia Yu’s face playfully: “Rarely does someone allow me to bully them. I want to keep pressing here.” Xia Yu: “So shameless.”
At this point, Xia Ling finished reading and, with a smile, handed the letter back to Jiang Hanhan: “That’s all?”
After Xia Ling squatted down and looked at Xia Yu again, she asked, “How’s it going, sis? Ready to reject her? You seem like you can’t agree with her.”
“Can you let me go first?”
Exhausted, Xia Yu let Jiang Hanhan sit on her, unable to move.
Xia Ling gave Jiang Hanhan a look that meant ‘let go,’ and Jiang Hanhan complied. Rising up, she walked away and read the note, clicking her tongue: “No one has sent me a love letter. Xiao Yu, you’re really something. I need to take a picture of this for my sister.”
So Jiang Hanhan took a photo of the note and sent it to Jiang Kekai. Xia Yu had nothing to do but watch the silly loli toy around. She couldn’t fight, and Xia Ling wouldn’t help her either.
Soon, Jiang Hanhan returned the note: “Ready for the rejection? Don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.”
Xia Yu: “How can I? Could you handle it?”
“Sure, why not?”
Jiang Hanhan had an idea—she crouched behind Xia Yu and dusted off some grass: “Do you know barbecue?”
Xia Yu suddenly got goosebumps; she suspected Jiang Hanhan was up to something again. Making jokes always needed limits.
Still, Xia Yu answered the question. “Yes.”
“If that’s the case, then after Xia Ling and I enjoy our barbecue, you’ll do the grilling. We eat, you cook. And then we’ll help you reject her,” said Jiang Hanhan.
“Is that all?”
Xia Yu had planned to deal with some pranks, not just this simple request. Knowing they wanted to barbecue, Xia Yu felt a bit awkward. This felt like not doing anything at all now.
Xia Yu responded: “Sure, you can help me reject her, but keep it a secret.”
“You can trust me, Xiao Yu.”
Jiang Hanhan tapped Xia Yu’s head playfully and whispered in her ear before leaving with Xia Ling: “My sister has seen the photo. Guess how she’ll react? Think about how you’ll handle her when you’re back.”
Xia Yu: “…”
Jiang Hanhan was just too much; first, Sister Little Ning and Xia Ling teasing her, now adding Jiang Hanhan too? Xia Yu wondered where she got the confidence to tease her, considering even Xia Ling dominated her at home.
Ironically, Xia Yu’s giving in encouraged Jiang Hanhan further.
She believed bullying Xia Yu more could give her an edge against Xia Ling.
After watching the two depart, Xia Yu lay down again, feeling frustrated. How come she couldn’t win against Jiang Hanhan? She needed to learn from Sister Little Ning.
Their peaceful moment was disrupted by He Gongxing and his team of boys bringing boxes of ingredients and equipment. “Set up the grill, no littering, food in one place…”
Xia Yu barely had the chance to enjoy the tranquil moment when Zhou Duoming interrupted her thoughts.
“Xia Yu, the guys have brought everything over. It’s your girls’ turn to take over the next parts.”
Xia Yu wasn’t sure if he disliked her for her laid-back attitude or her company with girls, so his tone seemed odd, as if mocking her.
Nonetheless, Xia Yu felt she needed some activity, so she didn’t argue. Checking her messages, she found they had located a water source.
“Okay. The ingredients are yours to manage, clean them well.”
This time, Xia Yu couldn’t stand the strange vibe. “…What do you mean ‘girls’? I strongly suspect you’re deliberately isolating me. If you have a problem with me, get involved instead.”
“Don’t bother pretending you win; who behaves like you?”
“Sure, it’s me who doesn’t behave properly, but are you afraid? Do you think you lost?”
Xia Yu didn’t want to fight over it anymore; she rolled up her sleeves and started handling the ingredients.
