Chapter 28: Perfect Division of Labor
In the Leader’s Office.
After the Leader had checked all the details with Night Lan, he called a meeting for all the Sunlight Night Watchers.
Soon, the Leader arrived at the conference room.
A dozen Sunlight Watchers from headquarters were already present.
“Looks like everyone made it.”
The Leader took his seat, with his secretary, Ji Yun, standing nearby.
He glanced around at the Night Watchers and spoke softly, “Let’s talk about this Star Eclipse dream scenario. The information we can gather through observation is pretty much saturated. To obtain more crucial intel, we might need to find the one weaving this dream, the Dream Narrator.”
As soon as he said that, the conference room fell silent; everyone was deep in thought and didn’t offer any opinions.
Just then, a man with curly brown hair spoke up.
“I have a question.”
“Lewis, go ahead.”
The almost thirty-year-old Uncle Lewis adjusted his glasses.
“How do we find the Star Eclipse hiding in the dream?”
The Leader shook his head.
“I don’t know yet. That’s what we’ll be looking for the next time we enter the dream.”
With Lewis leading the way, others quickly followed with questions.
This time, it was a mature woman with deep pink hair, sporting a braid on one side of her chest.
“Setting aside the fact that we’re dealing with an eerie dream, from what I know about the Star Eclipse, even if you find its real form in the dream, there’s not much you can do. You all are battle gods in reality, but that doesn’t guarantee you’ll rock it in the dream.”
Gotta admit, this was quite real talk.
Even the few highly skilled Sunlight Night Watchers present couldn’t counter that.
To tap into extraordinary abilities, you need at least a somewhat normal environment.
But here’s the kicker: is that dream normal?
Even the power of the Stars has been banned.
Even if they regain power, it’s only the Star Eclipse’s feature—far from the real deal, and the limits are ridiculously low. It’s practically unplayable.
At that point, the combat gods from headquarters in the dream are pretty much the same as ordinary folks.
Because ordinary people can also leverage the power of dreams to that extent.
The Leader nodded.
“Garnet makes a valid point. Once we meet the Dream Narrator, how to handle them will be a serious issue. But we have to try, right? We can’t let fear of danger hold us back; that’s not our style as Night Watchers. Plus, this is the capital city; we need to resolve the Star Eclipse events at lightning speed without worrying about risks.”
At this moment, a young man with dark purple hair said, “So, we’re negotiating? Sure, high-ranking Star Eclipses are pretty smart, but I don’t think they’d be willing to negotiate with us. Our actions might even hinder them from fulfilling their obsessions, which means we can forget about having a harmonious chat.”
“Liu Ying Mo is spot on, but even so, I believe we should give it a shot. Practice makes perfect, after all,” the Leader replied with a smile.
“This means we can’t approach them with combat in mind. We should at least maintain a friendly attitude. After all, in the dream, we lack the capital to challenge them; we need more intel.”
“But the question is, who will take point in the negotiations?”
Once that question was raised, the room fell into quick silence.
Not many of these Sunlight Night Watchers were negotiation whizzes; even if they handled social relations well in everyday life, who could chat with a Star Eclipse that has a completely different worldview?
Their values clash, and the other side might not even have moral concepts. Using typical human negotiation tactics with a Star Eclipse is like playing the piano for a cow.
At that moment, the Leader piped up, “Let me handle it.”
At this statement, everyone in the room was taken aback.
“Uh… Leader, are you sure? What if something goes wrong? We should let an expert on Star Eclipses handle it. I remember there are a few negotiation specialists in headquarters who claim to understand the speaking patterns of Star Eclipses and their odd personalities. They’d be more reliable,” Liu Ying Mo hurriedly advised against it.
The Leader chuckled.
“Forget about those guys. I can handle their methods too. Understanding the personality and speech of high-ranking Star Eclipses isn’t an easy task. If we follow a template to communicate, we’ll only make things worse.”
“But…”
“No need to argue. My mind is made up. You don’t trust me? I’m the Leader, after all. I won’t make any bad decisions; I know my limits.”
Hearing this, the other Watchers ceased their opposition.
Thus, the next goal for the Night Watchers entering the dream was to find the Dream Narrator first and figure out how to connect with them to obtain the most vital information.
And that decision was set.
Meanwhile, at the Rising Sun Theater Group.
After a whole morning, the show for the weekend performance had been finalized.
Moreover, the practice speed of the theater members was incredibly fast; they quickly got near-perfect at the stage play and the songstress performance. Their coordination was shockingly high.
This was thanks to the playwright’s outstanding script, which required no extra modifications – just follow the script!
As for those lines and actions… the group leader and the others only needed a few minutes to memorize them. Their efficiency was off the charts compared to an ordinary theater group.
So by lunchtime, the theater started to quiet down.
Because they were already done.
They had a day or two to spare, and all they needed to do was familiarize themselves with Kong Yu Bai and Lianhua a bit more.
The afternoon was thus wide open.
Originally, Lianhua was thinking of continuing her puppet show for Night Star, but Night Star had another idea.
“Hmm~ How about I take you guys to explore the capital?” Night Star suggested.
Previously, she didn’t want Lianhua and the others to show in the capital because she worried a Night Watcher might sense their unusual aura, like the Star Eclipse aura.
But if they were just human, there shouldn’t be any issues.
Under normal circumstances, Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao were regular humans without any Star Eclipse aura—at most, they were Star Holders.
So, them appearing in the capital should be okay.
As for Lianhua and the Makeup Artist… they might just have to stay in the theater.
“The capital, huh~ Sounds fun! The last time I was here was just for a tour, and I didn’t get to explore. It would be great to have Night Lan with us,” Kong Yu Bai smiled and said.
Book Yao nodded in agreement.
“Then let’s go check it out! We should also decide on a meeting point in the dream; otherwise, we’ll be relying on luck again.”
“Hmmmm! That’s exactly why I planned to explore the capital with you!”
At that moment, Night Star felt someone tugging at her clothes. She looked over to see Lianhua sporting a pitiful expression.
“Audience Performer, what about me?”
“Ah, I’ll have Night Star stay with you.”
“That seems acceptable.”
So in the end, Night Star stayed in the theater while Night Lan took Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao to wander around the capital, achieving a perfect division of labor.
