Chapter 388: I’m Out of the Circle, 2022.1.11
Having a pot is great, and there are plenty of ingredients here. After assembling everything, Xia Yu could finally get to cooking. Too bad… no rice.
But no rice? No problem! If you’re tired of barbecues, frying up some stir-fry will do. A change of flavor is sometimes necessary!
After frying up six plates of meat, Xia Yu figured that was enough. She was worried that if she kept going, there wouldn’t be any meat left for the barbecue fans. So, she started boiling soup instead…
Honestly, she hadn’t planned on doing all this when she arrived, but her cravings got the better of her, and since she had the skills, why not? Out of those six plates of meat, five were snatched away by the boys and girls in the class, leaving just one plate for Xia Yu out of courtesy.
So unfortunate~
Sharing the last plate of stir-fried meat with Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling, Xia Yu felt like she was really hard done by. She promised herself to slack off more in the future to make up for this.
After finishing her stir-fried meat, Jiang Hanhang glanced at the bubbling pot of soup and quietly approached Xia Yu, acting all buddy-buddy: “Little Yu, when can we drink the soup?”
Actually, it wasn’t just Jiang Hanhang curious about this. Everyone in Class 15 was dying to know since they had paid so much for this trip, and having soup was a special treat they didn’t want to miss!
But… the pot was so small! What if everyone didn’t even get a small bowl?
Xia Yu noticed their eager eyes and decided to spill the beans: “The best time for the soup is about one to one and a half hours. We can drink it then, and it can be reboiled a few times after.”
No matter what happened, Xia Yu knew she was in charge of that soup, so she was definitely going to get the first bowl. Otherwise, it just wouldn’t be fair!
Sure enough, when the time came, no one dared to grab any soup. They all just kept their eyes glued to Xia Yu, waiting to see how she would handle the pot of broth.
Xia Yu stood up and ladled a bit of soup into a bowl to taste. After confirming it was good, she dished out three bowls right away and then called Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling over with two big bowls to share.
Finally, she added more water, seasonings, and new bones to continue the simmering…
“Alright, I’ve done my part; you guys can divide it up from here. The rest is up to you.”
After exchanging looks, Xia Yu, Xia Ling, and Jiang Hanhang, the three little geniuses, quickly grabbed their bowls and left, not wanting to battle anyone for the soup. “Slurp, slurp, slurp! Little Yu, your cooking is amazing! When you marry my sister, you have to cook soup for me every day!”
Xia Yu had developed a bit of immunity to Jiang Hanhang’s shamelessness, but she still didn’t get it: “Why would I cook soup for you every day if I married your sister?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’d be your little brother-in-law. It’s only right for you to take care of me!” Jiang Hanhang took on a look that clearly said, “Why act surprised?” She continued sipping her soup. Too bad, one bowl disappeared quickly, and it was the first batch—the tastiest one.
With Jiang Hanhang being so cheeky, Xia Yu could hardly be bothered to retort. After all, she couldn’t fight back, and a nobleman’s revenge is best served cold, right?
After finishing the soup, Xia Yu was done putting in any more effort today, so she headed straight over to the class leader, Huang Qiao: “Class leader, can I have the room key? I’m going back to rest.”
As soon as Huang Qiao saw Xia Yu, she didn’t hesitate at all and happily handed over the room key: “There’s only one key, so don’t lose it!” “Don’t worry; I won’t.”
With the key in hand, Xia Yu returned to Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling. “Hey, do you want to go back together?” “No way. It’s so lively out here; why go back? Plus, we’ve got food!”
Xia Ling was lying on the grass playing a game, while Jiang Hanhang was using Xia Ling’s belly as a pillow. The two silly lolis cuddling up together didn’t seem to find it dull at all. “Hmm, I’m planning to stay here a bit longer with Hanhang; you go back first,” Xia Ling chimed in with Jiang Hanhang.
“Then… fine.”
Honestly, Xia Yu wanted them to come back with her. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have asked. But now that they had made their stance clear, she could only head back alone.
Ding—
Opening the door, Xia Yu returned to the somewhat chilly hotel room. She didn’t even bother changing out of her clothes and just flopped onto the bed to play on her phone. Honestly, she preferred the quiet alone time; it made her feel so much more at peace.
Feeling sleepy, she tossed her phone aside and immediately got comfy on the bed and fell asleep…
Time passed, and Xia Yu suddenly felt like something was wrong—her nose was stuffy, and her mouth wasn’t cooperating either, which forced her to wake up. “…What are you two doing here?”
Yep, it was none other than Jiang Hanhang and Xia Ling being their usual annoying selves. “What’s with the attitude?”
Unfazed, Jiang Hanhang, the shameless one, plopped down next to Xia Yu and scolded her: “I called you and Little Ling earlier, and you didn’t answer! We thought something happened, but you were just sleeping like a log.”
“What’s wrong with sleeping? Can’t I sleep in peace?”
Xia Yu shot a glare at that silly loli. If it weren’t for the fact that she couldn’t win over her, she would’ve punched Jiang Hanhang to oblivion! Jiang Hanhang wasn’t put off. She kept teasing: “Sure, you can sleep, but guess how Little Ling and I got in?”
“How did you get in?”
“We came in through the front door.” “Oh~”
Xia Yu’s reaction was painfully dull, making Jiang Hanhang unable to resist pinching her cheek to bully her, helping her sister teach Xia Yu a lesson: “Oh, big head! Don’t you know it’s dangerous to sleep with the door unlocked? What if some bad people came in?”
Xia Yu’s mind worked quickly, and she figured out what Jiang Hanhang was worried about. But she just wouldn’t back down and turned her little face away: “So what? I used to be a guy.”
Xia Ling: “.……”
Jiang Hanhang: “…Oh no, we better let my sister handle this. I can’t teach you anything.”
After saying that, Jiang Hanhang truly stopped her antics, seemingly giving up on Xia Yu for real this time. Xia Yu felt incredibly wronged; waking up from her nap was one thing, but then getting pinched? Life was hard for her.
Sitting up, Xia Yu rubbed her pinched cheek and asked Xia Ling, “What do you two want with me? I didn’t hear you because my phone was off.” “The barbecue ends in an hour. By the way, sis, you really can sleep! Are you hungry?” Xia Ling said with a smile that made no sense.
“I got filled up with your nonsense, and you’re still calling me sister? You didn’t even help me earlier!”
Annoyed, Xia Yu got up. Being bullied by these two silly lolis was making her miss her Sister Little Ning. If only Sister Little Ning was here, she wouldn’t be suffering like this!
