Chapter 35: A Splendid Misunderstanding
Leader’s Office
The Leader stared at the dossier sent by Night Lan, his face contorted in bewilderment.
“This… had there really been so much progress yesterday night? The possibility of daylight dreams and the weaknesses of dream narrators… this is almost breakthrough information.”
Once the Night Watchers returned to reality, they would forget all memories related to the dream.
Night Lan had neatly organized the documents without any special instructions.
And just like that, a splendid misunderstanding was born.
The Leader thought these insights were the results of the Night Watchers’ efforts, feeling quite impressed by their efficiency.
Since that was the case, they could move on to the next phase.
With that in mind, the Leader quickly called a meeting with the Sunlight Night Watchers.
A short while later, everyone assembled in the room, eagerly awaiting the Leader’s revelations.
They held a special meeting every day to process the information brought back from the dreams.
They didn’t need to know who brought back the message as long as they knew the information existed.
Sitting in his chair, the Leader calmly said, “This expedition into the dream world saw significant progress, though we no longer remember what transpired in it. Still, thank you for your hard work.”
“Young Liu Ying Mo” spoke up. “Leader, save the flattery, let’s get to the point. I really don’t want to go to bed early anymore.”
The Leader chuckled and gazed at her slightly irritable expression.
“Perhaps this doesn’t just apply to going to bed early; maybe during the day, you should try taking naps too.”
“Huh?” Young Liu Ying Mo froze.
Garnet, seemingly sensing something, adjusted his glasses on his nose.
“Leader, does this have anything to do with the information you brought back from the dream?”
The Leader nodded slightly.
“Yeah, according to the latest findings, the star eclipse dreams might not be limited to nighttime. They could also exist during the day.”
Hearing this, all the Sunlight Night Watchers were stunned.
A young girl with orange hair and blue eyes stood up, reacting strongly to this information.
“Oh no, Leader? Not only nights but now even daytime? Even if it’s good for skin, sleeping so much sounds awful!”
This bubbly little girl seemed out of place among the Sunlight Night Watchers; she indeed looked too young for such missions.
Beside her, Yu Xin patted her shoulder, urging her to sit down.
“Long Li, just listen to what Leader has to say first.”
All the Sunlight Night Watchers focused on the Leader, and he nodded solemnly.
“If we can enter that creepy dream realm during the day, it would be ideal. This way, we can solve this situation much quicker. Our duty as Night Watchers requires us to waste no time, especially here in the capital. You must understand that.”
Upon hearing this, other Sunlight Night Watchers quickly accepted the idea.
Even though most of their days would be spent sleeping, with no memories of the time lost, it felt like wasted effort, which was frustrating.
But whatever the Leader said was right; it’s all for protecting the capital’s order.
If they could find a solution to the star eclipse issue during the day, it would be ideal. No one knew how dangerous these star eclipse dreams were or what risks lurked within.
In such an information void, pretending everything was fine was impossible. Not just the Leader, but the rest of the Sunlight Night Watchers felt tremendous pressure.
Lewis sighed, looking utterly defeated.
“Well, no matter what, it’s better to end this quick. Sleeping at night is fine, but day sleep, that’s almost like overtime, isn’t it?”
The Leader chuckled.
“Speaking of which, Lewis, you didn’t seem to want overtime.”
“That’s okay; if I become a Sunlight, serving the capital, I prepared for extra hours. Of course, I’ll try my best not to overwork, so when do we start our daytime naps?”
Shaking his head, the Leader replied, “Daytime dreams are just a hypothesis, not confirmed. To avoid useless efforts, let’s have the Sunlight Night Watchers check it out first. Other Night Watchers aren’t necessary—have breakfast, then we can start.”
Other Sunlight Night Watchers nodded gently, without further objections.
The Leader moved on to the next topic.
Now came the heavy part.
“The next bit of information for sharing is… the weaknesses of the dream narrators.”
At this, the other Sunlight Night Watchers froze once more.
Young Liu Ying Mo was flabbergasted.
“No way, Leader. Did you figure this out so quickly? Did we fight the dream narrators in the dream?!”
The Leader remained silent. He didn’t know the specifics himself.
After receiving this information, he immediately called a meeting before verifying the details with Night Lan.
Shaking his head, he said, “Don’t worry about the specifics. I’ll start with the most important part.”
Gripped by suspense, the guards held their breaths.
After all, revealing these weaknesses of the star eclipse was critical.
The dream narrators’ magnitude might exceed normal Ultra Star Eclipses, with a complexity that couldn’t be overwhelmed just by increasing the number of Night Watchers.
So knowing their weakness was crucial.
The Leader proceeded to explain this plainly.
“It’s simple. It’s waking up from a dream.”
“Waking up from a dream?”
The Leader nodded, beginning his analysis.
“Based on collected information, my analysis is that making the dream narrator experience the awakening from a dream is similar to us coming out of the dream state upon hearing the sound of a flute.”
“So, dream narrators could use awakening as a means to leave the dream, thereby materializing in the real world?”
“Exactly. While unverified, it’s at least a breakthrough point worth exploring.”
Flashes of thoughts raced through the Leader’s mind, continuously analyzing the information.
The dream narrators’ weakness, as far as known, was simply awakening.
The precise methods to achieve this weren’t clear yet.
Looks like after this, I’ll have to ask Night Lan for more detailed information.
“For now, take in this information. It may come in handy soon. I sense that during our next dream journey, we might encounter the dream narrators. Whether we’ll be fighting or negotiating is yet to be seen.”
The group of Sunlight Night Watchers nodded.
“Dismissed,” the Leader said.
He went back to his office with Secretary Ji Yun, and the other Sunlight Night Watchers dispersed, presumably to prepare for their “daytime naps.”
Meanwhile…
Having finished breakfast with Night Star, Night Lan read the message from Ji Yun.
“Hmm? Going to the office again?”
