Chapter 411: Fallout
Ever since the idea of messing with Jiang Hanhang via food had popped into Xia Yu’s head, she had been pondering how exactly to pull this off. Using the principle of food incompatibility might not work and could even lead to some uncontrollable dangers, like accidentally poisoning her—not cool.
Indeed, Xia Yu was eagerly looking forward to seeing Jiang Hanhang getting her just desserts without it being too dangerous for the other girl.
After much deliberation, Xia Yu finally decided to start by making dishes Jiang Hanhang didn’t like, followed up with a little something extra in her rice.
Having settled on her method, Xia Yu started daydreaming about the fun she’d have come lunchtime. Jiang Hanhang had been bullying her for ages, so it was high time she got a taste of her own medicine. The morning classes whizzed by, and before long, it was time for lunch break.
Like clockwork, without Xia Yu having to summon them, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang showed up to take her back to the dorm. Jing Keyi didn’t need to join them, as they wanted to make good use of their limited time.
Midway back, Jiang Hanhang started being shameless again: “Xiao Yu, I feel like eating sweet and sour spareribs later. Make sure you cook enough.” “Heh heh.”
Xia Yu chuckled but chose not to directly acknowledge Jiang Hanhang’s request. She couldn’t believe Jiang Hanhang had the nerve to ask—after all, they had messed with each other earlier that day. To Jiang Hanhang, though, Xia Yu’s laughter was seen as an agreement, albeit a shy one.
Feeling hungry, Jiang Hanhang refrained from teasing the cute Xia Yu any further during their walk back and instead clung onto Xia Ling, who seemed to return her affections. Having confessed and received a positive response from Xia Ling, Jiang Hanhang felt there was no better person to cling to than her.
Jing Keyi’s classroom was closer to the dorms, so by the time the three girls arrived, Jing Keyi was already lounging on the sofa, resting. Today’s delivery of ingredients had also been brought to the kitchen, awaiting Xia Yu’s culinary wizardry.
“Welcome back, Xiao Yu. Let me give you a hug!”
Xia Yu: “… What?”
There was no one around, so Jing Keyi let her guard down and pulled Xia Yu into a heartfelt embrace to ease her loneliness.
Oddly enough, being near Xia Yu made Jing Keyi feel content, but the moment Xia Yu left, she inevitably thought about her, almost affecting her work.
Jing Keyi knew this was unhealthy but saw no way out. With Xia Yu nearing graduation, she needed to find a permanent way to keep Xia Yu at her side.
“Yuck… Sister, that’s gross. Stop being shameless.”
As usual, Jiang Hanhang broke the mood by spouting nonsense and quickly dragged Xia Ling to their room, saying, “Xiao Ling and I are going to play in our room. Xia Yu, if you’re done with dinner, call us.”
Jing Keyi: “…”
Xia Yu: “…”
Curious, yet preoccupied with what would follow, Xia Yu’s anger dissipated somewhat.
Unaware of Xia Yu’s plan, Jing Keyi patted her head gently, thinking she was annoyed like herself: “I’ll catch her for you to spank, should the chance arrive.”
“Great!”
Xia Yu wasn’t opposed to her Little Ning Sister’s suggestion, hoping such an opportunity would arise.
Too bad, Xia Ling and Jiang Hanhang were as attached as Xia Yu with Jing Keyi, making the chances slim and retaliation something they’d have to carefully consider.
Once Jing Keyi was done hugging, Xia Yu went straight to the kitchen to cook.
Of the four, only Xia Yu cooked, a testament to her importance. Without her cooking, they’d either starve or eat out, avoiding a nap.
Unbeknownst to Xia Yu, Jiang Hanhang likely had given the food delivery person a heads-up. The first ingredient Xia Yu saw was pork ribs…
Sweet and sour spareribs? After recalling Jiang Hanhang’s earlier request, Xia Yu sneered deviously. Possible? No way. If Jiang Hanhang wanted to push her around, she’d face consequences.
In Xia Yu’s experience, Jing Keyi indulged in meat, preferring savory foods, save for the occasional bitter veggies.
Making Jiang Hanhang dislike her food was tough, given she ate everything in sight.
So, Xia Yu decided against meat and prepared a full vegetarian meal. Jiang Hanhang had turned a blind eye to her ab*se; now, Xia Yu would show them she had a temper.
Seize the moment. As Xia Yu added salt to boost the flavor, she added a bit more than necessary. Might as well salt them out.
If Chef Chen were here, he’d berate Xia Yu for wasting ingredients, even if they were just vegetables.
Using food as a weapon felt disrespectful; Xia Yu didn’t care.
Back in her room, Jiang Hanhang wore pajamas, sprawled across Xia Ling’s stomach, playing on her phone. Oddly, she felt a chill and sensed impending doom.
But she quickly dismissed those thoughts. With her sister nearby and Xia Ling protecting her, she feared nothing. On the contrary, her life felt blissful, with Xia Yu there for her to tease.
Thinking of the sweet and sour spareribs, Jiang Hanhang eagerly anticipated lunch and hoped Xia Yu would cook faster so she could devour two bowls of rice.
In the kitchen, Xia Yu prepared all the dishes and then cooked four bowls of rice. It was routine for her and offered a perfect chance to add a twist.
Jiang Hanhang had a designated bowl. Xia Yu filled half with rice, added three scoops of salt in the center, and covered it.
Salt-packed rice—Xia Yu might hesitate back home, but with Little Ning Sister’s backing, why not?
Xia Yu set all the dishes on the table and brought up the rice: “Alright, the two in the room can eat now.”
Jing Keyi had watched Xia Yu bring the food. Seeing only vegetables and no meat, she knew Xia Yu and Jiang Hanhang’s conflict had ensnared her…
