### Chapter 54: A Dream of Just One Person
Time slowly crept by.
It was bedtime.
The leader had also sent a message saying he was about to sleep and asked Night Lan to get ready.
“Mmm, time to sleep.”
Night Lan and Night Star were in bed, really close together.
Lately, when Night Lan slept, she hadn’t been hugging Night Star. Feeling this again was really touching.
Indeed, having a small loli as a pillow was better than anything else.
Night Star and Night Lan snuggled up to each other and quickly fell asleep.
All the Night Watchers started drifting off one by one.
Meanwhile, at some inn, Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao also went to sleep on time, ready to meet their audience performers in their dreams.
But time ticked away.
Those who had a purpose in sleeping didn’t enter their dreams.
In a certain room:
After half an hour, the leader abruptly opened his eyes and looked slightly puzzled.
“He didn’t enter? Why?”
Then he quickly contacted the other Night Watchers, checking if maybe he was the only exception.
But to his surprise, no Night Watchers successfully entered the dream.
Some had been sleeping early for hours and still couldn’t be drawn into that bizarre star eclipse dream.
“This… What’s the Dream Narrator up to now? Is he screening out the Night Watchers or the Star Holders?”
Realizing this, the leader frowned lightly, sensing trouble brewing.
Right now, he needed to confirm one thing— whether it was just the Star Holders unable to enter.
This needed an experiment.
And there were plenty of staff members at the Night Watcher headquarters who didn’t have stars too; they could try.
The leader swiftly gave the order to test this theory.
A bit later, several ordinary staff members were gathered.
Under the influence of Star tech, they quickly fell asleep.
The higher-ups surrounded them, wanting to know the results swiftly.
Meanwhile, other staff used advanced technology to check their states, verifying if they were dreaming.
Time ticked away, and the results came back.
They weren’t in a dream at all—they couldn’t enter the Dream Narrator’s constructed fantasy.
After learning this, the leader sank into thought.
“Maybe the Dream Narrator didn’t act today? Or did he leave the city? Or perhaps…some other reason?”
These questions swirled in everyone’s minds.
Unable to dream, the Night Watchers had plenty of free time at night.
Going out on patrol might be a good idea.
If the Dream Narrator hadn’t set up the dream, maybe now was awakening time.
And during awakening time, he might appear in reality as his true self.
But this was just a guess.
Still, even if it was a guess, the leader wouldn’t let it go unnoticed.
At the same time:
Inside the Rising Sun Theater.
Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao returned from the theater entrance, looking quite perplexed.
Seeing them return, Lian Hua eagerly moved over.
“Songstress, Playwright, why did you come back? Aren’t you going to dream with your audience performers?”
Kong Yu Bai shook her head.
“We never made it into the dream.”
Book Yao nodded softly.
“Today seems different. We couldn’t enter our dreams.”
“Is that so?”
Lian Hua looked confused.
Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao began to think.
“Without a doubt, this is probably the handiwork of that star eclipse. He must have denied everyone entry, or perhaps…he didn’t use his star eclipse powers tonight.”
“But why would he do that? What’s his aim?”
“Not sure.”
Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao weren’t worried at all.
After all, going into dreamland was just to accompany the audience performers; other matters didn’t concern them much.
If the star eclipse had any sinister plans, it was the Night Watchers’ problem to worry about.
Just then, Kong Yu Bai noticed something.
“What happened to the audience performer?”
“She said she’d stay with Night Lan.” Lian Hua replied.
“Ah, so she’s at the Night Watcher Headquarters.”
Kong Yu Bai smiled softly.
“If it’s her, probably she doesn’t realize she can’t enter the dream tonight.”
Book Yao thought the same.
“She will probably just keep sleeping until morning.”
“Since that’s the case, let’s rest well and prepare for tomorrow’s performance.”
Soon after, the theater quieted down.
Meanwhile:
In a rest area within the Night Watcher headquarters.
Two little Lolis embraced each other on the bed, creating a very cozy scene.
No one disturbed them, and they felt safe and sound.
Most Night Watchers remained awake because they couldn’t enter the star eclipse dream, assuming the Dream Narrator had stopped.
But was that really the case?
…
Within the dream.
The two Lolis opened their eyes, looking at the peculiar star eclipse sky.
“Hmm, we made it.”
However, once inside, Night Star Lan found a strange phenomenon.
There was no one in sight on the unfamiliar street, making it eerily empty.
Moreover, the area was deathly silent, giving off an ominous vibe.
“Hmm… weird. My sleep schedule should be normal. So many people should be sleeping… could everyone be staying up together!?”
Well, probably not that reason.
She likely missed something significant happening.
Now, they seemed forced to split up.
Night Star would wait at the entertainment district’s entrance, checking if Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao entered, or if they come looking for her.
Night Lan aimed straight for the Night Watcher headquarters.
Staying with the leaders might offer some security.
Night Star Lan acted swiftly, moving out right away.
Following the mental path to the entertainment district, while Night Lan headed directly to the headquarters.
Not long after, Night Star arrived at the entrance of the entertainment district and pondered.
“No one here…”
Indeed, she saw no one on the way.
Even the usually bustling entertainment district was deserted.
Did everyone fail to enter the dream?
Or…did only she make it in?
On the other side:
Night Lan reached the headquarters but saw no Night Watchers.
“There’s no one?”
Night Lan tilted her head, finally starting to feel uneasy.
She walked in and spedchecked the place, calling out, yet saw no one.
The place appeared empty.
Night Star waited ages without seeing Kong Yu Bai and Book Yao, so she joined Night Lan at headquarters.
Night Star Lan ran to the tallest building for a view but saw no one.
This dream city resembled a ghost town.
Now, the two girls sat closely on a bench, their faces filled with anxious worry.
“This is so strange…”
“It’s incredibly strange.”
“Why is this dream empty of people?”
“I’m alone…”
