### Chapter 410: Back and Chatting with the Academy Head
When I used the Reverse Summoning Spell to get that sudden sense of direction, the biggest rock in my heart finally came to rest. It was like finding a “home.”
Isn’t it strange? Before I left the Main World, I declared I had no connection here, that my deepest connection lay in a past life. But as time went by, those memories faded.
Now, I’ve severed all ties with the Earth Pulse Shackles. It’s a really complicated feeling.
Perhaps that’s not a home, or maybe simply being there means I might see someone I want to see?
As these thoughts swirled in my head, the ceremony below began running, and the spell succeeded. A force enveloped me, and I felt that oppressive sensation of transitioning between worlds, but my not-so-weak body could barely handle it.
At this moment, Qiu Ruxin watched as Xiao Han sister, glowing in white light, vanished right before her eyes. She felt a void in her heart.
A hint of sadness flashed across her face. Without thinking, she grabbed the pendant around her neck.
She clearly understood her current situation.
That’s why she needed to avoid any mishaps. Even though she knew the so-called True Protection Association couldn’t be trusted since they were also Excavators, they respected Xiao Han sister’s power.
And now, returning through the Void, I felt unprecedented pressure and resisted the odd sensation of being summoned. During the trip over, we had an academy head shield to absorb the impact, but not anymore. It was all up to me until I reached the other side of the summoning circle.
“Done…”
I felt incredibly relaxed at that moment, emerging slowly from the summoning process.
Opening my eyes, I was stunned because the scene was eerily familiar. This wasn’t the academy head’s office?
I last visited this place with Teacher Ji leading the way.
“Seems you didn’t sustain any injuries.”
“Yeah, I broke that shield myself,” I responded as I turned towards the direct gaze of the academy head.
Seeing this familiar figure again, I wasn’t sure what expression to wear—challenge? Confusion? Neither seemed fitting since we were adults after all.
In the end, I settled for plain honesty. There was no point in re-questioning things I already knew, and besides, I couldn’t fight the academy head anyway.
“That sounds about right. I figured a small world wouldn’t have anything that could hurt you badly,” said the academy head, casually scanning my peculiar attire and noticing a broken area on my side where there wasn’t any apparent injury.
“Did you have fun? That world, was it the one you were telling me about—the small world merging with the main world?”
“Not exactly… Academy head, that world—is it the one that was going to merge with the main world?” I shook my head and voiced my question.
“Probably. The thing is, did you see any Abyss Demons? Yes, then that confirms it’s the same small world.”
Mei Linde clearly knew the “void” the main world was in. So, it was a safe bet that Xiao Han had gone somewhere correct and not some error.
“Oh. So no doubt, that world was invaded by Abyss Demons, but unfortunately, I didn’t witness it personally,” I replied, getting closer to understanding the situation.
Although I had no clue why the academy head thought seeing Abyss Demons meant it was the merging small world, this was similar to how Qiu Ruxin had no idea why you could go back and thus their world would collide with yours. The academy head must know something I don’t, and that’s why she concluded so.
Right then, the academy head didn’t just stand there. Instead, she invited me to sit in her office.
“Is that so? What a shame. But it seems those Abyss Demons faced quite a bit of resistance?”
“I guess so…” I wasn’t much informed; I just knew a bit from the war history Qiu Ruxin told me. The Abyss Demons were pretty much beaten back by a joint effort of this world’s people and Excavators.
Apart from what I heard from Qiu Ruxin, I did search a bit more on my own and found out each country was keeping the Excavators’ role hidden. They only mentioned the monsters were repelled thanks to the Excavators, implying they’re not small fry when it comes to power.
Especially those g*n-toting Excavators!
Who knows, maybe they play tactical nukes like grenades in large-scale battles?
So, those Excavators I met earlier likely don’t represent their overall strength accurately.
“So… Would you mind sharing your experiences there? Stories, history, or whatever you encountered.”
“Of course, no problem. Actually, before you ask, I do have a question,” I said happily, glad about the chance to discuss with the academy head. Even if she didn’t volunteer info, I was going to bring this up anyway, given how bizarre these Excavators were.
But, now she brought it up, so I won’t hold back.
“No worries, go ahead,” she said indifferently. It’s her plan after all, and since I saw through it, she’s somewhat in the wrong, but let’s face it, the academy head is tough-skinned. It’s a special kind of care from a valued student.
“You knew from Teacher Ji’s ‘Extraordinary Knowledge’ to that Rune, then to ‘Fortune,’ and the Reverse Summoning Spell. Were all these your planning?”
I looked up expectantly, like waiting for her answer.
If it was indeed her plan, then I didn’t understand Extraordinary Witches as well as I thought.
“You wanted to know? Xuan Lan, you’re giving me too much credit. Do you think these were my secret plans?”
“Didn’t you say so?”
“Well, fine. You’re making me sound omnipotent, even for an Extraordinary Witch. I have the time to explain. Want to hear it?”
“Yes, please.”
If everything was her plan, then I didn’t grasp Extraordinary Witches properly.
“Actually, curious about the Xuan Lan ‘Extraordinary Knowledge.’ I knew roughly what it’d entail, and yes, it involved me inviting her here. First-timers aren’t confident about exploring such knowledge alone.”
“Somehow, involving Xuan Lan and the research team worked in her favor. She spent quite some time gathering experience in other groups and labs. Plus, teaching part-time helped her confidence.”
“Also related to you. She found you were a special innate spirit vision user with data from the Inferior Demon Academy. She planned to take you under her wing.”
“While we’re at it, you copied that Rune and came straight to me after discovering good possibilities with divination.”
“When you managed to create a nearly self-contained Rune symbolizing your aura, it triggered something interesting. As for how that happened? Maybe due to your visit to the new Ninglan City. After all, you’re unique among non-extraordinary beings.”
“It was just coincidence?”
“What makes you think it’s a conspiracy theory?” she smiled.
“A bit. Feels like everything was scripted.”
“True, many in the academy are anxious about ‘scripted’ destinies since exposure to such concepts. Don’t worry—it’s both a blessing and a curse, right? At least, for now, the witch academy is your strongest support.”
“The rest, is that all planned out by you? Like that communication spell and the reverse summoning?”
“Close enough. A test? Back then, it was just a method for Xiao Han and that girl to communicate. No one expected this Reverse Summoning Spell could use fortune threads as markers.”
It’s amazing how unlikely events work out.
Even the academy head has to marvel, right?
“A test…”
“Exactly. A rare experience, isn’t it? Did you leave backup to revisit?”
“Backup? Naturally,” I nodded.
“Sounds great,” she smiled.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“What now? Cut off completely? Not possible—we’re expecting more Extraordinary Witches soon who could contact that world. If you forget, just wait a bit. We discussed this before, right?”
“Oh. That makes sense,” I replied awkwardly, relieved. “Oh, and by the way, you should be curious about the details of that world?”
“Sure… Although we can’t visit personally, tell me what you remember. I’m curious!”
“Not too complicated. Though, you should know that humans are in control?”
“Really? That’s a surprise. Is anything else there?”
“I doubt it. The setting makes it seem like any other human world,” I explained.
