Chapter 3: Tears Can Be Useful Sometimes
Mo Yu took Night Lan to a quiet corner and sat her down.
This was for better communication.
“Little one, since you know about the Stars, no need for roundabout talk. Who told you?”
“Mmm… they say I’m from the future Night Watcher. How come you don’t believe me…”
Night Lan’s brow furrowed with sadness, head bowing slowly, looking extremely wronged.
Though in a dire situation, she felt nervous and scared but couldn’t gain trust. The only hope now was the Night Watchers.
If even they wouldn’t help her, what would she do?
To this city, she felt like a nonentity.
As she pondered, water welled up in her eyes involuntarily.
“Guh…”
“Huh?”
Mo Yu froze.
Hang on, he made a little Loli cry?
No, wasn’t his tone that harsh?
Mo Yu panicked, clueless about how to handle this.
“Eh, stop crying, I’m sorry… ”
Lan Feng Su Yu glared at Mo Yu with disdain, narrowing his eyes slightly.
“Mo Yu… so lame, making girls cry? Unforgivable.”
“Hey, don’t make me sound like some player! Weren’t you watching the whole thing?”
“That’s also your fault.”
“Pssh!” Mo Yu spat out a mouthful of bl**d, “Hell d*mn it, did you hear that? Hell d*mn it…”
Lan Feng Su Yu ignored the flustered Mo Yu and walked over, gently patting Night Lan’s head to comfort her softly.
“Shhh, no crying, this guy here didn’t mean to be harsh…”
Night Lan originally didn’t want to cry, but now with the comfort, she wanted to cry even more.
“Wuhu… you guys don’t believe me…” She wiped away tears, feeling increasingly wronged.
“This…”
Lan Feng Su Yu looked helpless, retreating back to Mo Yu.
“Mo Yu, what now?”
“You brought this trouble, solve it yourself, no getting me tangled up.” Mo Yu closed his eyes to lower his bl**d pressure.
“You’re not being loyal!” Lan Feng Su Yu opened wide eyes, puffing up her cheeks.
“Heh~ who called me weak just now?” Mo Yu smirked, seeing through the world’s harshness.
Lan Feng Su Yu clenched her little fist, nearly punching him out of frustration.
“Wahah—”
Night Lan finally lost control and bawled loudly.
Lan Feng Su Yu and Mo Yu dropped their bickering and joined forces to placate her.
Otherwise, if word got out that the Night Watchers were crying small fry at their base, they’d lose face.
It took a while before Night Lan’s sobbing reduced to sniffling.
“I—I’m sorry, I couldn’t help getting carried away…”
After crying, Night Lan calmed down. And seeing their bewildered expressions earlier, her sense of being wronged lessened.
It seemed venting was quite effective.
But thinking back, crying in front of strangers was still somewhat embarrassing.
Her cheeks were still faintly pink.
Mo Yu threw his hands up, admitting defeat. “Alright, based on your claim you’re from the future Night Watcher, let’s have a proper chat now.”
“Mmm…”
Night Lan’s emotions were stable again.
“So when did you join Night Watchers?”
“Mmm… November 1st, 2101.”
Lan Feng Su Yu nodded thoughtfully, “A year later… seems not too far off.”
Mo Yu continued, “Which branch of Night Watchers?”
“Cloud Chang City’s.”
“Tell me some info about Cloud Chang City Night Watcher base.”
“Remember my boss named Xiao Jin.”
“Xiao Jin?”
Mo Yu frowned slightly.
He had heard of Xiao Jin, a Sunlight-grade Night Watcher, very powerful. But this didn’t confirm Night Lan’s origin.
Mo Yu rubbed his temples to clear his thoughts and asked again.
“So tell me some stuff about the future, something noteworthy.”
Upon hearing this, Night Lan pondered deeply.
How should she answer?
Not only hasn’t it happened yet, it must be significant.
She suddenly struck upon an idea.
“There’s a Star Eclipses event by Supernova scale — [Doll City], what about that?”
Even though she saw it briefly, Night Lan somewhat remembered it happening after this timeline.
“?!”
“What?” Lan Feng Su Yu also paused.
“Supernova… Star Eclipses?”
Listening to these terms, Mo Yu’s usual apathetic expression lit up with intensity.
Supernova eclipses have happened historically several times, each bringing terrifying calamities, worthy of historical records.
Big eclipses haven’t been seen in ages.
Mo Yu even believed such eclipses existed only in legends.
But right there, this little Loli mentioned “Supernova Star Eclipses.”
Just the words sent Mo Yu on edge.
If this Loli truly came from the future, a Supernova eclipse was inevitable.
[Doll City]… just the name gave Mo Yu chills.
It was instinctual.
“If what you say is true, specifically when and where will it happen?”
“Mmm… let me think.”
Since she previously believed no great connection to Supernova, she barely read it, just glanced over, not much memory left.
“Shang—he…”
“Shanghe City?” Mo Yu helped complete the word.
“Yesyes! Something like that city.” Night Lan froze, “Wait, isn’t it this city currently?”
“When exactly?” Mo Yu grabbed Night Lan’s shoulders, questioning seriously.
“Mmm… sometime around late September this year.”
Hearing this, Mo Yu pulled her hand dragging her toward the Night Watcher base internally.
Lan Feng Su Yu stopped, then followed.
“Wait for me!”
…
In minutes, Mo Yu had taken Night Lan deep inside.
“Boss! Boss! Major anomaly detected, come quick!”
The man called Boss by Mo Yu was in his thirties, Yao Can, notable for dead-fish eyes, appearing tough.
“What’s the commotion about? Didn’t I just tell you to stay calm first? If next time, sparring practice it’ll be between us.”
“Uh… I messed up, forgive me.”
Yao Can scratched his head impatiently, looking irritated.
“Speak fast, no wasting my time.”
“It’s about the Supernova Star Eclipses.”
“Hmm?”
As Mo Yu spoke, Yao Can’s eyes turned sharp as lightning, energy field changing instantly.
“Explain.”
Mo Yu pushed Night Lan to Yao Can, stating formally, “This girl says she’s a Night Watcher from the future, apparently Supernova Star Eclipses are about to burst soon.”
Yao Can’s gaze landed on Night Lan’s dark-haired silhouette, squinting his eyes.
“A Night Watcher from the future…?”
