Chapter 419

Chapter 425: Communication Between Me and the Headmistress

The Witch Academy’s Void Exploration Team arrived sooner than I thought.

Thankfully, I had booked the entire guesthouse. Otherwise, with these dozen or so witches, there probably wouldn’t be enough rooms left over for the witch mentors!

Though, they said that as non-sleepers, they didn’t technically need to sleep. But hey, everyone needs some personal space, right?

After chatting briefly with Headmistress Beif Eilana, I got a decent understanding of what this team was up to.

Of course, Headmistress Eilana was leading the charge. As for Headmistress Mei Linde saying she was the only headmistress left in the academy, Eilana claimed not to know anything about it. But for now, she’s the only one here with this bunch of Extraordinary Witches.

They said they sensed the magic fluctuations as soon as they entered this small world. For someone like me, who’s not an Extraordinary witch yet, not having total control over my Magic Source means I can’t stop my Magic from leaking out. That’s why they spotted me as soon as they arrived.

But imagine their ability to pinpoint me in such a tiny world based on a mere Magic signal—it’s pretty creepy, really.

So, the idea of laughing at those witch mentors turned into laughing at me instead.

As we chatted, Headmistress Eilana seemed quite approachable, much like Headmistress Mei Linde. She even brought up my feat of self-generating Magic, which she knew best because Headmistress Mei published it through a study in the Academy’s Academic Section.

Soon, more mentors joined us, especially those I’d met before who had messed with my face when I was a student. It was a bit awkward, but whatever—it’s all in the past now.

When more witches gathered, Headmistress Eilana started bombarding them with questions about how I came to be. No secrets between us, so I spilled the beans on the Reverse Summoning Spell.

Naturally, it led to the topic of Qi Ruxin, the luckiest kid alive. Most mentors weren’t surprised about her being the ‘fortune child,’ but that didn’t change the gravity of it.

Eilana didn’t hold back from chewing out Mei Linde for not stopping the witches from exploring the Void. They quickly changed the subject to learning about this small world, as that was why they were here anyway.

With nothing else to do in the Main World and nothing else around the Void, coming here to explore was a no-brainer, really.

I joked that even an ordinary student like me could cause chaos, while bringing up Qi Ruxin as someone who deeply understands this realm. Other details about excavators were just background for the conversation.

As I delved into the information about this small world, night fell outside.

These Extraordinary witches were quite intrigued when they heard about Plant Technology.

“Alright, Qi Ruxin, go shower! You mentioned earlier that you were sweating? Get moving!” I said lightly, giving her a gentle tap on the shoulder.

“Now?” Qi Ruxin responded instinctively, then snapped out of it, “Oh, yeah! Actually, I’ve been wanting to shower.”

After sending Qi Ruxin off, I looked back at Headmistress Eilana. Anyone would see that I was trying to make a point.

I knew these Extraordinary witches wouldn’t be impressed by Plant Technology alone. Their expressions hinted at deeper speculation.

They were most likely guessing about the Extraordinary Item Qi Ruxin possesses—or perhaps the Extraordinary Knowledge.

Despite Headmistress Mei’s assurance that the Witch Academy wouldn’t force her to hand it over, I still wanted to secure some leverage for Qi Ruxin. Even if I couldn’t bargain with the headmistress, I wanted to get something to protect her against misfortune caused by breaking the Earth Pulse Shackles.

“No other matters, Xiao Han?” Eilana sent Qi Ruxin off before turning to me.

“Yes, it’s about Plant Technology. We’re talking about excavators and so much more.”

“Go ahead. We have already received updates, so no hurry with more,” Eilana replied casually, referring to Mei Linde.

Eilana acted like she was enjoying the show of me struggling with the details.

“I want to discuss the Extraordinary Knowledge in this small world,” I said bluntly after gathering my thoughts, glancing at the witch mentors.

Surprisingly, they showed no signs of surprise, let alone any concern.

Were they not supposed to value Extraordinary Knowledge that highly?

“Haha, Eilana, stop scaring her! She’s starting to doubt everything,” one witch joked.

“Of course, we noticed the big Extraordinary Knowledge pendant on Qi Ruxin’s chest. Did you think we’d snatch it?”

“Well, I…” I stood there stunned, watching their laughter, feeling slightly embarrassed.

Okay, okay… You guys are Extraordinary Witches, or maybe the headmistress, and you’re all playing me?

“Even if Qi Ruxin had become a reserve witch by your side, any witch wanting the Extraordinary Knowledge would have asked openly. And… that knowledge comes with its own set of troubles.” A witch who once gave Qi Ruxin a knee pillow added with a smile, seemingly hinting that her interest earlier might have been purely due to the Extraordinary Knowledge.

“Troubles? Related to luck, or the Item itself?” I asked.

“Both. So I’ll leave it alone. Since it’s tied to miracles, who am I to take it?”

“Impressive, you think luck is troublesome too?” I asked, quite surprised.

“Of course. Even if we don’t force her, she eventually has to decide.”

I asked, “What do you mean?”

“The Extraordinary Knowledge is attached to that Item. Once this small world merges with the Main World, the world’s will changes, and the bonds formed by fortune break apart. That Item becomes a regular piece of Unrooted Extraordinary Knowledge. So, she’ll need to decide whether she keeps it or uses it.”

“Got it…” I replied, a bit taken aback. She understood a lot just from her short interaction with Qi Ruxin. I shouldn’t try showing off my own deductions; they’re probably close anyway.

After the explanation, Headmistress Eilana tried to reassure me—they had similar attitudes as Headmistress Mei Linde. Knowing this, I felt a bit relieved.

The next subject would be on excavators.

Those back civilization remained hidden. Though I didn’t know why this civilization suddenly planned an evacuation, I definitely wasn’t letting them off easily.

“Headmistress, you know. I ended up here at Mei’s request, and I struggled against those reckless excavators. They were truly bizarre.”

“They seem to treat worlds like games, manipulating ordinary folk through luck to ravage the indigenous people, and they’re fearless. d*ath means nothing to them—they keep reviving.”

“That’s too far…”

The headmistress cut in. “Just say what you want.”

“Well, they certainly don’t respect life, which shows a corrupt nature. Rumors suggest they have thousands of smaller worlds. Do you find those civilizations interesting?”

“One, two, thousand small worlds? That’s huge!” another witch chimed in.

“Yes, we found some intriguing beings when we first arrived. They were the excavators, apparently. Their inventions were fascinating, but I don’t see how they can dominate over thousands of small worlds.”

“Did you meet them when you arrived? Can you map their location?” I wondered aloud.

“We tried, but they use this world’s plotline as a launchpad, avoiding detection. Unfortunately, we failed.”

“Oh, even the headmistress couldn’t track them?” I asked Eilana.

“Eilana did mention that abyssal demons pushed this world toward our Main World, likely due to these beings. Oh, Mei must’ve told you about that?”

“Yes, I heard they’re not just handing over benefits freely.”

“Well, anything troubling enough for the abyssal demons suggests they have unique power.”

“Moreover, their capabilities suggest Extraordinary Knowledge influence,” a witch added, holding a four-sided object adorned with runes. I guessed it was some kind of sealing device.

“I captured some of their power. This is quite magical—a kind of pixel magic perhaps. I’ll keep it as a collectible.”

I looked at the witch’s pixel block that continuously changed size. I tried to grab it, but to no avail. The witch showed remarkable ease handling it.

It amazed me how powerful these witches were despite their inability to locate the excavators’ coordinates. Yet…

Perhaps things aren’t as simple as I imagined.

“Why are you so angry at them? Did they provoke you?”

“I… well, I don’t like them. Even though I haven’t directly interacted with them, I get annoyed whenever I bring them up.”

“In that case, good on you! Just don’t stress over this chaotic group. Besides, we’ve seen they’re wrapping up this small world’s storyline and luck threads. Looks like they’re making a run.”

“That’s good! At least they’re leaving. Now we’re freed from their troubles.”

“Right. Anyway, the headmistresses clearly aren’t interested beyond curiosity.”

If that’s the case, I shouldn’t waste more breath.

Maybe I’ll create some hype about the excavators on the Plant Network.

Who knows? Maybe the target will come knocking soon.

When the admissions office of Witch Academy called, I was stunned—I had been accepted into a school I never imagined I could touch. Yes, I am a boy and it is an all-girls’ academy, but they did not mind, so I saw no reason to object. I had applied secretly, without telling my family, just to take a chance. But as soon as those striking seniors greeted us newcomers—pressing every boy against the wall with a knowing smile—I realized things were about to spin out of control. “Oh, come now, you sweet little freshman,” one of them said smoothly, her voice full of mischief. “Don’t make this difficult for me, your big sis. Swallow this core and transform into a witch like me, alright?” She held the glowing orb before us, half-threatening, half-teasing, almost inviting the new boys to react. It was clear she enjoyed it—the blend of fear and resistance in their expressions. Our unease seemed to be her personal amusement. After all, they only had this opportunity once a year.
