Chapter 433: Being Too Good at Grades is Also a Sin
As the exam papers were handed out, the class bell rang. Class monitor Huang Qiao posted the grades on the classroom wall, just as Xia Yu was planning to see how well she did compared to her classmates.
But just as Xia Yu got up from her seat, she was suddenly snagged by the rushing Jiang Hanhang. “Little Yu, you did really well! You haven’t wasted my sister’s training at all!”

She tugged at her hand, which Jiang Hanhang was holding onto tightly, showing no signs of letting go. Xia Yu was close to shedding tears. “Miss Hanhang, can we talk nicely? No need to be so handsy!”
“No way!”
Jiang Hanhang glared at Xia Yu. She used to be the top of the class, and now Xia Yu had snatched that title away! Talk about unfair! “So, what are you planning to do?”
While questioning Jiang Hanhang, Xia Yu glanced at her sister, Xia Ling, only to find that Xia Ling had no intention of stepping in. What was going on?
Unbeknownst to her, Xia Ling was also feeling a bit shaken that Xia Yu had overtaken her; she was now lower in rankings as well, feeling equally sour. Perfect! Jiang Hanhang was confronting Xia Yu! An entertaining show, for sure!
Since there was no escaping, Xia Yu thought about not leaving her spot. Jiang Hanhang couldn’t be that shameless, could she? She wasn’t about to go whacking her across some boy! With that thought in mind, Xia Yu began to retreat to her seat, hoping to hide like a coward, with Gao Xiaotian acting as her shield.
“Move, you!”
“Sure!”
With Xia Yu’s grades skyrocketing, Gao Xiaotian felt like she was no longer a slacker like him. He felt uneasy too. So he stood up with gusto, even moving his chair to help Jiang Hanhang get a better shot at Xia Yu.
“Wow, you’re really gonna get it, huh…”
Before Xia Yu could finish her sentence, Jiang Hanhang was already on her, raining down punches on her. Xia Yu was like a deer caught in the headlights. “Remember what Sister Little Ning said? I’m telling her about this when I get home!”
“Pfft, let’s see if you can make it back in one piece!”
Giving Xia Yu a disdainful glance, Jiang Hanhang continued to pinch Xia Yu’s cheeks in a fit of rage.
To everyone watching, if Xia Yu was a girl, it might not seem like that big of a deal, but wasn’t Xia Yu a boy? Why was she so close with Jiang Hanhang? They couldn’t possibly have that kind of relationship, could they? Everyone’s imagination began to run wild.
Only a few who knew the real reason behind Xia Yu’s condition watched Jiang Hanhang hammering Xia Yu with an air of calm, including monitor Huang Qiao.
Thanks to Xia Yu’s new top ranking, Huang Qiao had dropped a spot herself; she was not feeling too good about it, okay?
“Alright! Enough! Are you done playing?”
After being pounded on for most of the class, Xia Yu was getting a little impatient. If this kept up, they were going to head to class, and she wanted a look at the grades. Jiang Hanhang, sensing the time was right, stopped and haughtily snorted before walking away.

Adjusting her ruffled clothes, Xia Yu finally made it to the grades board to check her score.
There were quite a few students, so the grades were in two sheets. Xia Yu hoped she would be on the second sheet, but now… no need! She had made it to the first sheet!
Based on Jiang Hanhang’s earlier comments, Xia Yu confirmed her suspicions: she really was the top of the class, having taken Jiang Hanhang’s old throne! No wonder Jiang Hanhang was so furious.
So, Xia Yu squeezed her way to the crowd gathered around the first sheet and looked at the top line.
Hmm… not bad at all! Right next to the number one was her name, and behind it was the school ranking… also number one!
As for Jiang Hanhang, her total score was two hundred ninety-eight, just one point behind, coming in second in the class and fourth in the school.
From this data, Xia Yu realized there were two more students in the school who also scored two hundred ninety-nine, so they were jointly ranked first. Talk about some serious competitors! As for not giving out three hundred points, it was probably because the school feared students would get too cocky. Any writing assignments that could warrant thirty points definitely must have some points deducted elsewhere—otherwise, they’d just take points off the essays. This was something everyone was used to at this point.
After finally catching sight of her results, Xia Yu felt completely satisfied—this is fantastic! Never did she think she would score first in class and in the school in her lifetime. “Oh c’mon! This is just elementary school! You think you can get first in middle school too?”
Unbeknownst to her, Jiang Hanhang had snuck back behind Xia Yu to trash-talk this little cutie who had trod over her. She wasn’t done yet and was back to bother Xia Yu again. Xia Ling let Jiang Hanhang have her fun; today was Xia Yu’s day as the number one in class, and someone needed to take her down a peg.
Jiang Hanhang had already discussed the future with her sister, so she was confident she’d dominate in middle school as well, but Xia Yu was a whole different case.
Both Xia Yu and Xia Ling had only brushed up on the basics from elementary school; getting these high scores only required a bit of attention! Still, when it came to middle school, aiming for just the top twenty wasn’t all that hopeful. As for being number one? Well, that was a stretch!

In no time, Xia Yu found herself caught up in Xia Ling’s embrace: “Gotcha! Hanhang, I caught her! Now let’s get some revenge!”

What she thought was a joyous occasion for getting first place turned out to be quite the disaster. She never expected these two to so readily accept her changes.
In hindsight, Xia Yu felt a pang of regret for having achieved first place. After all, she now knew there was a limit to her own success, no wonder Sister Little Ning encouraged her to have more confidence.
Jiang Hanhang soon moved back in front of Xia Yu, surveying the terrified Xia Yu with a wicked grin. “If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for scoring so well. You’ve made more than just me angry!”
